Better hair If possible.

and the sword shouldn't change back to the normal one when you do the up B move.

Continuing on from the previous topic

I can't say about Lucario. As far as I see, I'm not having any problems with him at all. o_o

DK and ZSS are still a problem though. It might be a good idea to alter or get rid of the sword glow too, since the shape of Ike's sword appears in the middle of the sword whenever you swing. XD

Scratch that. Lucario still has minor problems. Oh well, at least the game won't freeze for those who go into SSE, Boss Battles, or play Classic and fight Master/Crazy Hand now. :3

The pcs and the pac should never be exactly the same size. If they are, something is wrong. That's what I've learned anyways.

This is part of the PSA, which hasn't been attached yet. Just a good size of the animations have been added so far.

I tried the redownload and the characters still slowed down. ZSS even caused the dreaded beep once loaded on the stage instead of just slowing down.

As far as critiquing (mind you this is really nitpicking), I recall part of his pant legs to be a tad poofier instead of all the same. And from certain angles his hair looks a bit odd. Then again from others its gorgeous.

Again this is being really persnickety, while playing you don't even notice. Just my two cents.

I love just fighting cloud ike with squall ike. No matter who wins I still get to here the ff7 fanfare

...*points back to his post* I said I edited it, didn't I? Seriously. T_T;

It fixes the file size so the game won't freeze in certain modes. That and it gives you another outfit XD

mine still slows WAY DOWN with lucario, zero suit COMPLETELY BUGS OUT and donkey kong has a giant object that smears to the edge of the screen....

all three are unplayable against them... no freezing yet, it just feels like your playing a very horrible online match, and at times while playing against said chars the bottom of the screen where the percentage is displayed randomly dissapears...

i would say major flaws, but still awesome with everyone else :) its sad cause lucario is my second main :(

Sorry wave I see the edit now  :>.>: <-- me taking a closer look... and trying to keep my eyes open, me so tired. Also I'm new to the whole forum involvement.. I've mostly just browsed and lurked. Way to bring me out of my shell Jack  :P

I feel like I'm pestering, but as far as the PSA, I'm curious if cloud's standing animation is changed in the later builds to more represent his stance and less ike.

Thanks!

Suggestion : posting Wave Kusanagi's "almost-fixed" Cloud on the blog's entry. The one without the arranged texture.

I will edit it myself, if no one sees an objection.

Great work with cloud i must say. There's a few small details you missed in the model/texture i noticed, but i hope that those can be fixed in the v2.0

those are:

-Buster Sword without the 2 Materia Holes (can be added in texture)
-the 2 brown-belt-like stripes that are covers cloud's vest isn't present in the body,
-Mirrored Hair (a few retouches on it, but mainly, the hair it's just mirrored, XDD)
-The Metal wrist in the left arm isn't acurrate at all, same with the belt (in the FFVII/Dissidia version, he doesn't have those details in the belt)
-the belt itself needs to be more bigger
-Cloud isn't supposed to have a zip in his vest, just in the AC version.
-The best it's too dark in my opinion, a bit brighter and a bit more purple would be great.
-The eyes are awesome, but they can use a bit more of saturation/contrast to make the Mako-infusion more noticeable.

There's a HQ Cloud Renders for reference of what i am talking about:
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/4/49/Cloud_Dissidia_CG_render.jpg (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/4/49/Cloud_Dissidia_CG_render.jpg)
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/3/36/Cloud_Dissidia_CG_render.png (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/3/36/Cloud_Dissidia_CG_render.png)

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/8/8a/Dissidia_Cloud_ex.png (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/8/8a/Dissidia_Cloud_ex.png)- In-game Cloud, less detailed, but i think it match better with the "Brawl" style of the game, :)

And those are all my notes. I am not trying to troll or anything like that, i am just giving you my suggestions for the next version...hope that you can take it in count :D

I agree with Dhragen. GREEEEEEEEAT Work but pay C-L-O-S-E attention to clouds design. Though we may be asking too much for what brawl box can do without any side effects. Anyway, you guys are legendary and thanks for good work! :)

So...

I have a common5.pac with Cloud, 3 recolors of Cloud and Zack Fair, all with CSP's.

I also completely edited Ike's icon and name and portrait and everything, and now Ike is completely Cloud. (GrrrAnnouncervoice...)

I would post a DL, but the common5 also has all my other CSP's for other characters. If you can deal with that, then just ask for a DL.

I made some things as well on page 1, dont know if anyone saw that, this is what it was:

(http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/SqLeon123555/MenSelchrFaceB.png)(http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/SqLeon123555/MenSelchrChrNmSIke.png)(http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/SqLeon123555/MenSelchrChrNmIke.png)(http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/SqLeon123555/MenSelchrChrFaceIke.png) All four are required. The locations are,
MenSelchrFaceB-->char_bust_tex_lz77-->MiscData[33]
MenSelchrChrNmIke-->MiscData[30]-->MenSelchrNm.331
MenSelchrChrFaceIke-->MiscData[70]-->MenSelchrChrFace.034
MenSelchrChrNmSIke-->MiscData[70]-->MenSelchrChrNmS.034

(The portrait I used was originally something else, but the above picture was better)
(Right click and press "save as" or "save image as" to dl.)
(If you use cupash(I think that's what it's called), rename the file to the last name, so MenSelchrChrNmIke would be MenSelchrNm.331.)

1. I noticed of that will be adde
2. That can be done via texture, but I dont know how looks like, I ll try
3. I know, I tried to mirror the hair but, just I cant, the 3dsmax havent an option to mirrir vertex.
4. the belt will be bigger
5. Ill try for more brigtess, if looks strange Ill kep the original
6. The Zip will be removed.
7. I like the eyes ^^

bueno como pueden ver, tiene bastantes fallos, pero bueno, ustedes eran los que presionaban con que lo querian pronto, nos hicieron trabajar algo a la carrera

If anybody wants it, I made a logo or mark for cloud.

Replace MenSelchrMark.15 from your info.pac so it will show up during battle and replace MenSelchrMark.15 from your common5.pac so it will show up in your character select screen.

Also, a CSB,

and finally this displays Cloud's name instead of Ike's during battle.
Replace MenSelcherChrNmS.331 in your info.pac located under MiscData [30]

 • Character Compatibility with Lucario, DK, and Zero Suit Samus
I believe that you could fix these incompatibilities re-adding Ike´s cape to the model and deleting it with the normal methods on the textures

Shadow is wrong. I hexed off the cape along with his scarf. Akari morphed his chest so it would crawl up his neck more (since there was a slight hole before). Akari most likely re-added the cape, and removed it via simpler methods. Well found.

I asked for it as well, however, just so we're all on the same page here, take a look at what else he's working on before v2 is released:

"Jack: Akari
Jack: Did you fix Cloud?
Akari: yep
Jack: Zephron said you fixed him.
Jack: Do you have a download link?
Jack: I want to change the blog download link and the forum download link.
Akari: I want to fix anothers things first (materia holes, hair, etc)
Jack: ok, awesome."

the only problem i see with cloud is that his mohawk mess up hair whatever thingy magigy is too static it is supposed to slowly rise up to it like this:
and since you made him wear his ff7ac costume you might as well give him tsurugi that was just extra i felt like saying don't take it seriously.
(http://www.finalfantasycosplay.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Cloud_strife_full_by_Wen_JR.jpg) cloud from the side.
and too sign off i would like to say that No cloud or squall shall hinder me from downloading v2

@smashmaniac

You fail. They used his FF7 outfit, not his AC. -_-

Wii's Cloud is AC, and he's going to put up a revised version of it tomorrow. You didn't read the Q&A in the first thread, did you? >_>

So much for doing KH Cloud... T_T

I'm guessing you guys also hexed out the part of his cape that goes around his neck, because it doesn't show up even with the texture there. I just got the cape in there too, and while previewing it, it just stops at his shoulders and leaves empty space.

The KH outfit is my favorite one too... DX

@Wave Kusanagi

I have come to your rescue good sir!...I'm quite good at hex-editing..and hexed it back in for you. Here it is......I ported Ike's original texture over it..so I have a sort of Cloud as Ike thing going on here...but I plan on probably reinserting other parts of Ike's model to make it completely fixed up..or I plan on disappearing again! Lols.

So I wonder if someone would start to make an easy vertex hack for Peach.
Like making her the short hair Shadow Queen Peach has and the collar.

My avatar is Mystique @person who asked.

And looking at the pictures, i see a couple of things that could be improved on ff7 cloud, mostly the shoulder and back. The straps could easily be  added. Any pictures of AC cloud's back? i didnt add the straps because the front mirrors and the straps go diagonally. Not sure how they go on his back.

Awesome that the fix the ZSS, DK, and Lucario came so quick.

Also, is there a guide somewhere on how to hex things off and do vertex editing? As of now, it has to be done in a program like 3ds max? I'm guessing Maya could work too, right? After googling a bit I found I just get the .mdl0 file from the .brres, then I can edit it?

Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII - Cloud Strife Specs, Discussion, and Progress
Post by: Kaye Cruiser on February 08, 2010, 10:55:31 AM
For whoever asked, since this is just an model edit and outfit, it should work for PAL too. It's the moveset that'll need changing because the sounds are in a different place in PAL Brawl.

Speaking of which, how for along has the moveset come now? Will we be seeing a release of it soon? Because I was planning on trying to see if I could try and change all the sounds to work for PAL in it. Though Shadow said she would try to as well and she's officially on the project team so...Maybe I won't need to. o.o'

...And now that I think about it, where would I find a PAL FitIke.pac at? -.o'

But anyway, nice to see that actually somebody cares for properly working PAL movesets on a project like this. It almost makes up for being totally neglected on movesets like Onslaught Falcon or Hyper Sonic and pretty much every stage hack.

Well excuse me then. I only just recently found out the difference between the two thank you very much. -_-

Plus it doesn't help that I really just made those two to give myself something harder to fight against or more fun to play with. I just thought other people might like to use them too. I want to help out for Cloud since everyone likes it, but if you want those two for PAL, you'll have to do it yourself. I'm not going to spend what would take a couple of weeks to try and figure which sounds in PAL are what and then add them accordingly since the sounds for those two aren't the same as their original counterparts.

Damn.

I'm coordinating with Canon and Shukaku this afternoon so I can get an accurate (and extremely detailed) list (with images) that shows and explains each individual move/animation that Cloud will have. We'll open it up for discussion within this thread after it's posted.

Okay, this honestly isn't much. It's Cloud with a red cape, bandaged Buster Sword and the gold claws on his hands. I wanted to add in the belts at the bottom of his pants' legs but I couldn't figure out where the texture wold be cause of the new model. The point of a texture is to look good from a distance though, and this does just that...Though I think it looks okay close up too :3

That's normal. That happens when you're using an outfit that has the cape missing using transparency. It's not a problem at all, okay? :3

Also guys? Would there be any possible way to use Emerald textures on Cloud? O_o I'm just curious because I want to make a crystallized version of him using it, though I've never edited an Emerald texture before. o.o

You guessed it right. It'd look perfect if we could use the emerald textures with the Cloud model. Though if not, we could just recolor Cloud into a monotone of light blue with red eyes as a backup, like I already have...But that would be so bland and boring. -_-;;

So, any ideas? o.o

As Shadow said, it shouldn't be an issue. Just export the model from the pac you have now and import it into FitIkeDark.pac.

Ah, that annoying code? Yeah, I got it to work...in vBrawl. >_> The second I tried to activate the snapshot codes, the alt file code deactivated. Thus I can't play Brawl+ with it on.

At any rate, the emerald textures wouldn't work so I made do with what I could do. It may not be impressive, but I think it looks alright. If you don't like it, you can edit it or make a better one. Go for it. XD

And trust me, it looks much better ingame.

Original texture for the Manakin was made by DarkRobin.

so i placed the file in as fitike01.pac and fitike01.pcs but they dont appear when i select the right costume....any idea why?
its FitIke01.pac
i think you have to capitalize the F and the I
no the case of the letters doesn't matter.

I got it to work as FiTiKe00.pac

ESH was working on a pretty sweet looking Sephiroth texture around the same time the cloud project was well under way. It's a shame they're notorious for starting, teasing, and then quitting. No offense, but if you tally up the last 25 updates, it's sadly extremely true.

Yeah, Z was working on it, but then he decided to do other stuff. He has a thing for ranting about hating everything that's either KH or FF. XD

Oh well. Hopefully someone else will finish it. Sephiroth is probably the only thing that would make me get rid of Roy. XD

On top of all the textures coming out would there be a sword pack with his different weapons by any chance?

It would be awesome if ESH finished Sephiroth. Put a Marth hack on equal grounds with an Ike hack.

wave.... you took other people's altered textures and threw them together, my zack has a bunch changed compared to catgoowoof's....darker sword, retextured cyborg arm, straps, mako eyes, highlighted hair, glove tone, retextured shirt, recolored cloths, less tan skin tone, facial shading.

And the original texture was nowhere close to ff7 ingame, just concept art with quite a bit of dissidia like miacis said.

People should be able to pick which one they wan t anyway...  :>.>palm:

i am SO CLOSE to creating midgar its not even funny... its on the tip of my tounge...

there are two methods i tried and both have failed for me...

both methods are using New Pork City with all of the polygons for the platforms removed...

1. i tried importing the model and collision data from the online waiting stage, didnt work.. but then again im not good at it, if someone wants a whack at it be my guest :)

2. i tried scooting the model up a bit so that it looks like your playing on the very bottom of the background,
which wouldve been cool as [censored] if it worked, it does it in brawlbox, but when i export it it compresses twice...
i open it back up in brawlbox and it didnt change back, however when i use it in game, it reverts back to X0,Y0,Z0. any pointers?

ill try and post the file on my media fire if anyone wants to help...

The locations are,

(The portrait I used was originally something else, but the above picture was better)
(Right click and press "save as" or "save image as" to dl.)
(If you use cupash(I think that's what it's called), rename the file to the last name, so MenSelchrChrNmIke would be MenSelchrNm.331.)

This is great :) Now if just somebody could make a TGA for using with Cupash I will be more than served :P

Just a suggestion, if anyone is willing, we could make THIS (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/8/8a/Dissidia_Cloud_ex.png) cloud by simply hexing the sword back to it's original shape, or a bit larger.

Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII - Cloud Strife Specs, Discussion, and Progress

Hmm... His hair has to be a bit changed. Like you said more hair on his biggest spike and also his front lock could be changed.

Maybe his sword could be a little longer.

Edit: And it could be nice to make a Zack model too... If that's not too much work of course. Yes... I think I ask too much :-\

Here's version 2 in comparison to version 1. You'll appreciate the differences (can you name them all?)

Also, for those concerned that his sword isn't true to it's actual length, alright, alright, we hear you. We'll pump out a v2L (L meaning long, speaking for the sword).

Yeah, kinda went the dissidia route. But hey, Cloud is Cloud. Heh.

Nice V2! All the hair spikes are the save for the big one atop his head. Other than that, the color changes, the placement and direction of the spikes are rather spot on!

How's the moveset coming along?

btw, wave, you posted a pic of what looked like a ganon texture slapped on cloud. If it's not too much trouble could you provide a dl or point me in the direction where I can get me summa that? Looked mighty awesome!

Great work! New Hair and Materia holes for everyone :D. Now onto an AC Cloud v2.0? :P

About the long sword, mmm I think its a gret idea, but wouldnt it be kind of unbalanced in a normal Brawl. Maybe a long sword could be a great addition, once the PSA is done.

Just thinking. :)

Of course. The point of v2L is so that those complaining can have their precious long sword, even if the hitbox is completely... well, wrong.

The best combination will be v3L - where almost all the nit-picks will be fixed, and the moveset will be streamlined into it as well.

...To be honest, from the screenshot, the V2 hair looks...weird and off to me. I honestly don't like it. It lacks the spiky nature of his original look that I know and love. I guess it's making me think of his AC hairstyle, and I completely hate that hairstyle. It takes away from the "Spiky Haired Badass" theme Cloud has. Though other people love to overhype it, including Square themselves. >_>

But now I sound like I'm hating and whining...I'll try it out ingame first. -.o

Edit: SH*T! It's not done and hasn't been released yet! Disregard this comment, I suck big furry [censored]s. >_>

Edit2: Thinking about what I said, that means that hair would look pretty good with the AC Outfit... o_o

Wow now his hair looks perfect! (sorry Wave but I prefer his hairstyle in AC  :P)
Now as Wii said his skinny arm could be fixed. If that was changed then it would be REALLY perfect.

Edit: very good idea for the two versions of the sword. Just hope you will manage to keep him balanced ;)
Btw... What will you do for a v3? I don't see what could be changed now.

Akari was a little pissed at all the whining, so he says he'll be taking the modifications phase at his own pace. I suppose that makes sense.

While he's correcting that, I'm getting started with a few team members on the next project. Not going to talk about it, since it would derail the topic in this thread - but just know that it's in the works.

@Feanor

That would be nice since they may already have a starting point from ESH and I posted earlier Marth needs to compete with Ike but jumping the gun may lead to hectic threads. Look at all the criticism from Cloud being shown earlier then full release.

Not saying I don't agree with you but this thread may be spammed by Sephiroth fans.

Jack had to be a little tease about it. Lets not assume and just be amazed by what the team does this time.

Seriously, guys, calm down a bit about the hair criticism. I know you arez djust givin yar opinion, but ... really. Have you at least noticed how fast Akari_Un managed to change his model so well ? o_o

(Besides, quite some authors simply don't like criticism. It's not that they are dumb and overproud. They just do not have this urge some have to improve, improve and improve, and they are creating in order to make people happy. So take that into account before criticizing, and try to show your happy side, at least. :) )

[These things I just said were not necessarily directed toward the latest persons to have posted, but to the thread as a whole.]

I can't wait for the moveset. This is going to be SOOO epic, believe me.  ;)

Edit: SH*T! It's not done and hasn't been released yet! Disregard this comment, I suck big furry [censored]s. >_>

@ValTrox

*FACEPALM*...

Movesets are FitName.pac. Outfits are FitNameNumber.pcs/.pac

Example of what you want:

Oufits - FitIke00.pac/FitIke00.pcs
Moveset - FitIke.pac

There. It's basically already done for you.

Found a bug in Brawl + for Cloud. If you play four player (or in my case, one human player and four cpu players) on Flat Zone 2, it sort of speeds up and the hud is flashing. If you try to go back to the results screen, the screen stays black forever. To avoid this bug do not play Brawl + with Cloud!!

Try this same scenario but on a different level. Do you achieve the same issues?

Anyway, I was wondering, someday I saw an Advent Children Tifa Texture, (dont know if it was for ZSS or Peach), but I cant find it again. Does anybody happen to have the link ? I will really appreciated :).

Btw CLoud is working very well in Tourneys and Texturized Stages with PW and Dantarion´s code. Maybe be usefull to someone.

His chest stands out and Marth doesn't have the parted bangs so the excessive skin by his neck makes him look like a girl.

I hope Mastaklo adds the bangs for future pics.

Do you think he will change the sword? Maybe he could use the sword of the samurai help trophy as a base.

The problem with Marth is the form of his face : it's too round (like a girl ;D) whereas Sephiroth's face is thin.
Is it possible to change it?

If anybody wants it, I made a logo or mark for cloud.

Replace MenSelchrMark.15 from your info.pac so it will show up during battle and replace MenSelchrMark.15 from your common5.pac so it will show up in your character select screen.

Also, a CSB,

and finally this displays Cloud's name instead of Ike's during battle.
Replace MenSelcherChrNmS.331 in your info.pac located under MiscData [30]

can someone add this to the Common5.pac file that "joem3693"posted because i want to see clouds face and name during battle instead of ikes. please can someone do that? thanks

that v2 looks awesome, but, could you fix his skinny hand <_< it kinda creeps me out seeing it so skinny.

This.  I argued the point over at Smashboards a while back.  I know they looked at the Dissidia model a lot in their design of this Ike hack, but even in the Dissidia model, his physical arm definitely does not get smaller.  That's just the way Nomura's art looks.  That, and the bangles themselves start out larger at the edges and get thinner as they go in (which is creating the illusion that was perceived as "he has a tiny arm").  The arm under all of that is the same (it's not like he's got some gimp arm or a robot arm or something), and accordingly should be no smaller than his right arm.

Liking some of the other stuff seen in the V2 though, like the updated sword and shirt (although when I watch some footage, it seems these changes have already been implemented in v1?  I'm referring to the lack of a zipper on the shirt, and the holes in the sword).  I still wish his shoulder pad was edited to be shorter to more resemble the FFVII design (and not the Dissidia design).  I don't think the limitations of vertex hacking allow for a very accurate recreation of his Dissidia shoulder pad.  As far as the hair goes I'll reserve judgment until V2 is finished and there are some better pictures.

Also, they're making the sword longer?  I'm fine with it how it is, especially if the hitboxes still appear correctly...  I hope they still keep a version with the shorter sword D:

And of course, great job overall on the whole thing still.  I've been wishing more hacks would come out like this (vertex hacks to create new characters, there's tons of potential!). You guys have released a great first version and it looks like future revisions are certainly coming along.

I realised something.........why you guys are so impatient to get 6 alt costume for that cloud model??? there isn't any wrong to keep some ike textures in it, some really worth it, SPECIALLY my Squall texture, considering that he:

1. is a REAL MEN!!
2. He has the most worked alpha layered, beautiful Hair and.......
3. IT'S BROWN!!!!

And what are you doing with Cloud it's just changing his appearance to be more manly then have to go back to the shop because the costume didn't fit and then they refused to give him a refund so you wasted 40 million gil with two coupons from red less..................................... STUPID COSTUME!!!!

Post by: Jack H. on February 17, 2010, 08:20:26 AM
It's a matter of loading a specific .PAC file moveset via holding down a specific direction on the d-pad while selecting your character. In theory, it'd be quite simple to load FitChar.pac by default, and FitChar1.pac instead if left on the d-pad is held.

It can happen.

@Jack Can't that already be done with Almas "Alternate File Loader/Clone Engine" on Smash Boards? Unless you meant loading more then one on the same person at the same time.

I love your Squall texture D:
And beating up a helpless child.

I use the squall texture as well. My friends and I use it a lot. I don't plan on ditching ike necessarily, but i would like to have a selection of cloud costumes to put in to play as.

Has the metal cape on cloud been fixed yet?

Could have sworn I answered this somewhere, but I couldn't find a direct quote.

No. Surgically removing his cape causes graphical malfunctions. You'll end up having to deal with the "invisible cape" that we've prepared for you. :D

Hi, I like this project, is the best I have seen in a long time.

I was wondering, is there a way to have everything from v2 but having the v1 hair, I really prefer the FFVII Cloud, I didn't liked the Advent Childrent one, so if there is a posibility would be great.

Title: Re: Final Fantasy VII - Cloud Strife Specs, Discussion, and Progress

Is v2's hair still even going to look like AC? or was that just cause of a preview and it'll actually be FF7's hair? Not to hassle, but I agree with Felix on that. Don't like AC's hairstyle. Outfit is cool, just not the hair. >_>

I think they mean in v2, not in the release version that fixed the DK, Lucario, and ZSS glitch....unless you beta tested it....?

I say, if they are like that in yours, then there are 2 versions, which means people will have both versions, which means make 2 versions of the texture, so people can choose the one appropriate to their game. it's not that hard to remove anyway right?

Basically, like this. :3

And a message to the Cloud Team...if I'm needed to make the Emerald model of Cloud v2 I suppose I can do that if you'd like.

Having the actual hair, plus the buster sword is really cool. Since this seems like its based on Cloud's Dissidia appearance (attack wise) i was thinking someone should make one for Tidus too.

Well f*** you too Canon.

I was only making a statement. I wasn't saying you guys should hurry up or anything of the sort, or that I was ungrateful. What, a I not allowed to say what's on my mind now? I don't recall you having any control over what I think.

I'm very grateful that this will be released soon and never said anything insinuating the opposite, so get off your high horse and check yourself before acting like a 50 year old angry mom on 3 months late PMS.

Also, I find it funny how you left out the part where I wished you guys good luck on the project. What to pick and choose what you want to read and let others see, huh?

Fine, let me rephrase this so that even you can understand it.

"I'm a little disappointed that it won't be completely finished, but I'm still very much looking forward to this early release. I'm sure I'll enjoy it and will have even more fun when the full version is finally complete. It'll probably take awhile and we'll all be waiting for it, be it patiently or impatiently, but at least it'll be worth it."

There, is that enough brown-nosing for you?

I wasn't being that serious, though I do have a feeling it'll take awhile if there is stuff to be done since you guys seems to want it done right the first time. Me and Fade have been working very hard and working a lot of our time to get everything perfect and balanced for Cloud. And when we give you guys the chance to test it out, and people still complain, it makes me sad. Then angry.

And I'll say it again, I'm not complaining. Making a statement from a quick thought is different from whining without thinking at all. I'm well aware of how hard you're working on this. There's no need for you to be so on guard, okay?

Though I will say just as another statement, complaining and whiners are inevitable. Just wait, 5 posts from now we'll be seeing it. I'll bet my football sex nachos on it. >_>

Ah, but just so we can tie up loose ends, sorry if I came across like I was unhappy with the current developments. It's quite the opposite, I can't wait to see what you've done. It may give me some good ideas for a little personal project I'm planning to start soon. :3

I just hope that nobody complains about the new model's hair... after doing some vertice hacks on my own, I know how painful it is to edit hair.

Another reported glitch: More than one Cloud at a time causes a soft-freeze (however, not the buzz of death). Most likely due to the incredibly massive FitMotionEtc file-size.

Lol, the PSA is an average size. The motion pac is above average tho.

Wait, homebrew works on Dolphin now?
Man, I need to get a new laptop.

Aside from emulators, I have my two cents to point out now. I know you're asking for glitches, but not many casual hackers are good at finding them, so i'll focus on gameplay. The only 'glitch' I found, per say, was that his winning-waiting animations are completely frozen. Not that it freezes the game, but rather the animation is frozen.

MASSIVE GAMEPLAY REVIEW TEXT WALL. DO NOT READ IF IRRELEVANT.

All in all, Cloud has no obvious weakness to be exploited. His worst point is getting back on stage, and it's mediocre at worst. His Side-B and Up-B are fine for recovery. His Up-B moves are also bad at hitting people.

You want to really beat Cloud? Get a character with projectiles.

There's no way to approach him without them, and when you do, it can only get worse.

From above? His Uair will juggle you, no matter how long the dodge is. For variation, try Nair instead and laugh when opponents can't get away from it's huge hitbox.

From below? Expect a Dair, Toon Link style and less lag. Or a Down-B. Slower, but great for off-stage spiking.

From the side? Cloud has two projectiles (Neutral-B and Down B) that can be predicted and dodged, but off-stage they become scary edge-guarders. His Foward Smash is fine for dealing with people that are good at spacing.

His F-tilt is mediocre, his D-tilt is better than Ike's, and his U-Tilt is magical. Compare the Utilt to Sheik's Ftilt.

Is Cloud on the ledge? His Side-Aerial move will hit anyone waiting for him, with it's massive reach.

It's so satisfying to land a full Aerial Neutral B on someone.

And there's my gameplay review on Cloud. Balanced? Nope. Legit? Yes. It's Cloud Strife, he's supposed to kick everyone's a**.

I just have a question though : I saw in the gameplay video that he still had Ike's voice, didn't you say you would change it? Or will you had it in the final version of the PSA?

Forgive me if you already told it somewhere.

Sound effects do NOT get replaced though PSA. It's through the smashbros_sound.brsar.

And that's a VERY tedious and annoying task. I'd be surprised if they're still doing it, though if they are, more power to em. I sure as hell wouldn't have the patience. >_>

I have a glitch to report, however reading the previous posts, im assuming you already know.

- NTSC
- Wii, the latest one. (the one before glitchy 4.0)
- i havent truely tested this one like i should have, but since i played with fox against him.
- from what ive seen, everytime he goes into his collapsed animation (ie someone hits him, he falls, hits ground, then stays there in a collapsed look..) when he tries to get back up, the game still plays music, but everyone is frozen. i assume that is a soft freeze you mentioned earlier?

as for some input about the moveset, to me, it seems it doesnt blend well.. the smashes give him a sense that he is heavy like Ike, but for his up B and such, he feels soo much lighter as it happens really quickly.
i guess after playing him with ikes moveset for so long, it made the changes seem more apparent.
not to mention, the down b on the ground goes WAY too far, idk if this is reflectable/absorbable like a projectile, but it DEFINATELY should be, otherwize that thing is way too strong.
and with the exception of his side smash, everything else makes it seem like his range is very limited (with the exception of fira)

just my two sense, but please do, enjoy your juice and lawn chairs XD

-Wolf is considered Heavy and he has fast moves (Like side spam smash, though he does fall like a rock  :P )

-I agree with the whole absorb/reflect, though we CAN nerf it's damage and knockback. But I say keep the range.

and with the exception of his side smash, everything else makes it seem like his range is very limited (with the exception of fira)

-He's a sword character after all, so yes he will be limited to some close-range fighting.

just my two sense, but please do, enjoy your juice and lawn chairs XD

Not a glitch. it just happens. They can't hex those off or it'll cause problems with other characters. It doesn't hurt anything do get used to it.

And since I'm here and surprisingly no one else has said this. (Slow people ¦D)

1. Cross-Slash. Second attack lasts too long and lets enemies escape before the third hit can connect. Change the Synchronous Timer for Attack12 to either 4 frames.

2. Climhazard. ...Well it just doesn't look like it's working right. It's either the attack or the animation, but it just looks weird O_o'

3. Braver. Only a suggestion this time, but how about changing the trajectory so it's a spike? It kind makes more sense with the move, especially since it's similar to the Dissidia one. :3

And the main and most annoying thing, Finishing Touch. I'm sure you're already working on it, but I'm annoyed that no one else has pointed this out. -~-'

It's cool that he actually launches off the ground now and even goes higher into the air, thanks for that. Unfortunately, he teleports back down tot he ground if you use it grounded, and he'll teleport down and back up really fast if you use it in the air. The real problem though is that the hitboxes don't work correctly with it now. Not sure how you would fix that though.

Another tidbit of info, the hitboxes from SpecialHi2 seem to be overriding the ones for SpecialHi3. It's like no matter what changes you make to SpecialHi3, the settings for the hits in Hi2 will always be the ones to hit. Of course I can only tell this because I gave him back the Up-B animations he had from the previous version. Again, no clue how you would fix this. (Nevermind, that's not even the problem. I don't get this one at all XD;; But the enemy will always be sent up I guess.)

That's about all though. Doing a great job so far you guys. :3 And I guess sorry for taking a peek inside the moveset, but I was really curious of how some things were done. Helps me learn more, ya know? ¦D

Edit: One more thing, you've already talked about nerfing the Fire moves, but how about increasing the charge time a bit? They do kinda charge too fast with you think about it. o_o'

Edit2: Okay...There's also a glitch to where Cloud will sometimes get stuck in a loop of Climhazard's dashing animation. It rarely happens though, and I haven't a clue how it happens either. O.o

OK, I might as well give some feedback on the moveset. Personally, I think he's a bit overpowered. Neutral B in the air does 28 damage instantly, so that should be nerfed to, say, 15, because of combo potential. I agree with the braver spike from Wave, and the charging time. All together, just give him a little less power and knockback, and he'll be great.

RockXero has the right ideas. Though don't try to balance him so much that he's underpowered and can't KO at all. Underpowered is way more annoying than overpowered. x_x

And just in case anyone wants it, and to keep this topic on the first page, I'll post Cloud's alt colors here. :3

I'll keep this one short and sweet. I made some recolors for the new Cloud release, along with CSPs, battle portraits and a new icon to go along with them. There's Red, Blue, Green, Yellow/Gold, and Black.

http://www.mediafire.com/?tiddgjkyojg

Everything is already put together for you. The only things you need to add yourself are the CSPs for the actual CSS and the icon. Rather than replacing the pictures one by one, use the MiscData[33].brres in the rar and replace the original in your common5.pac or sc_character.pac that has Ike's CSPs. (For those who don't know for whatever reason, it's in the char_tex_bust_lz77)

With the icon, just replace Ike's in MiscData[70] (No, it's not in the char_tex_bust_lz77). It'll be MenSelchrChrFace.034.

That's all, have fun. :3

Can someone just make one of these with all the stuff? For the mac people? Because really, I want Ike to be fully replaced.

3 questions:
1) Does the model replace 1 Ike, or all?
2) If 1 Ike, Could somebody please make the KH1 and  Advent Children Costumes?
3) will somebody be changing the FE Victory theme to suit Cloud? mainly because it feels strange that A final Fantasy Character's Victory is celebrated with music OTHER than the Classic FF Victory theme...

@cannon 98 and Jack.H, i mustve downloaded the older one JUST before you posted the newer one XD, lol it was all a matter of bad luck i guess..

@cannon 98, i guess i can think about it like that, like i said, im so used to ike's moveset over the model. either way, i think you should make him move forward a bit when he uses his side smash, like wolf does XD

either way, this is still just the first alpha, im sure you guys will make many improvements along the way to perfection :D

Post by: Miacis on March 16, 2010, 11:22:37 AM
Well, I'm quite stnned by how good this release is.

Only glitches I found involved the side-B. I'm pretty sure I've managed a few times to land two Aerial Side-Bs in a row, without colliding with everything (not even a dodging opponent).
And when I tried to spam it and see if I could reproduce it, I stumbled upon the same glitch as Wave Kusanagi : infinite sword trust pose.
PAL version. File Patch Code v3.5.1A. Four characters match (Cloud, Samus, Yoshi and Marth). Happenned near the end of the match. At 5 or 6 minutes, I guess.

My review and opinions :

This character feels really great to play as a whole. A lot of moves that are really interesting and easy to pull off. I also really like the model, and all the shiny pretty green effets. They are really epic. However, I see some issues of unbalance on a few moves, so I'll do it in detail.

Note : No, I'm not a big [censored]bag for complaining about all and everything. No, I didn't hate this moveset because of all these things below. I found it as one on the most accurate, original, pretty and flexible movesets I've ever tested. So all these are basically nitpicks based on what I've felt when playing it, and little modifications that I think would make it the best Hack ever.  ;D

Now, if you'll excuse me, here's the huge blabbering:

AAA Combo : Kinda hard to land. I don't use it anymore, because it is really hard to pull off, and not rewarding enough ... Maybe extending a bit the hitbox of the last hit would help a lot, I think.

Side-Tilt : It's okay.

Down-Tilt : Hey, nice animation. Am I seeing things, or is he spinning a little when using this move ? Problem is, neither this move or his D-Smash can hit something right at his feet. Try it on some of the switches of SSE ...  ;) I think adding a slight hitbox near the feet would be better. Even if not powerful.

Up-Tilt : It's a really quick move, and quite powerful. I'd suggest nerfing it down just a little bit. A very slight nerf ...

Dash attack : A bit hard to land and not that powerful. But Cloud barely uses this move at all, so ... well.

Side-Smash : Uh ... at first I thought it had a bit too much range considering its power. Now, I'm not so sure anymore, since I don't remember landing it a lot in standart matches.

Up-Smash : This thing has a long delay, and is alright in power. But that's tolerable. The animation looks a bit weird, though. But I can't figure out how it could look better.  :-\

Down-Smash : Good lord, this move is sooooo slow. |-D I don't even remember if it's powerful. I've landed it like ... what ? 2 times in ten matches ? >_< Please, give it less starting lag, and a bit less ending lag. It's barely useable, right now.

Neutral-Aerial : Very good. Great animation, great move. Nothing else to add.  ;D

Forward-Aerial : Ugh ... this is a really strong KO move, with very good reach and few lag. I really suggest you slow it up a bit. This is just overkill, right now.

Back-Aerial : (Just out of curiosity, was this one changed in some way ?  ;D). Good, very good. Another quick and powerful KO move. Since he has this, I already suggested to nerf his AFA a bit.

Up-Aerial : Umh ... an okay move. Don't change anything.  :)

Down-Aerial : Too powerful considering its speed. It's like Ike's D-Air only faster and with a bigger area of effect. You should either add some starting/ending lag, or reduce its power.

Neutral-B (Ground) : This shouldn't hit this many times ... It slows the enemy down so much. I wouldn't have thought of Fire as a "get away from me move", but I found myself using it as one really fast. Besides, a quick charge time is okay, as well as a longer reach with the charge. Keeping it like this lets Cloud maintain his smooth gameplay ... But please, don't make the fully-charged Fire that deadly.
You should either tone down the power, or add more charge time. I'd prefer the first option, as it is a better idea for Cloud's flexible gameplay.
I'd say the attack should have a very slight increase of power when charging (less than 30% more at full charge), and keep the fast-charged, long range fireballs.  ;)

Neutral-B (Aerial) : Definitely too powerful. It's like the close-range spam attack from hell. Landing the four hits is really easy, it has almost no starting or ending lag, and it both damages and kills quickly. I really like the idea of the aerial combo. But as an "easy to pull off" finisher ? Bleh.  :P
I think you should tone down the damage/knockback a bit, and add a little more starting OR ending lag.

Side-B (Ground) : Good. The second hit looks a little weird though (and does almost nothing to the opponent except slow you down).

Side-B (Aerial) : Very good. I'm just a little disappointed it doesn't spike if it did. But it would be a bit too powerful ... Maybe giving it lower knockback in both power and degree ?  :)
But if you don't, it's really okay, I guess.

Up-B (Ground) : This is kinda useless as a ground move. :P Maybe a little wind push back effect to spice it up a little bit ? ^^

Up-B (Aerial) : Nice recovery. It just lacks a voice/sound effect, I think. I don't really manage to use it consistently as an attack, though.

Down-B (Ground) : Range is much too wide. o_Ô Seriously. How do you avoid that ? Please shorten it to something more adequate for its power and knockback.

Down-B (Aerial) : I never managed to pull it off in any regular match. Is it supposed to spike ? I don't even know.  I say you should fasten the spinning animation. It's certainly THE most "not-flexible-at-all" move in Cloud's flexible moveset. (With the D-Smash just behind.)

Final Smash : Oooh, nice ... I like the attacks a lot. I think you already know what should disappear in a future version ... all the remaining fire effect in the beginning, and at the end.  :)

Taunts : Very good. And why does Cloud taunt people by dying ? XD

Grabs : Unchanged, I suppose ?

Fiu, alright. Hope it helped.   :)

1) The texture itself with the hair and sword is all 1 Ike texture model, so you don't have to worry about having a regular Ike Costume altered.
2) Wavekusanagi posted a Kingdom Hearts costume earlier in this thread (page 7 for those who want to see the screenshot), http://www.mediafire.com/?oxddjejorgn (http://www.mediafire.com/?oxddjejorgn)
3) tjmsrubegoldberg made a song pack for that:
http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=818.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=818.0)
The first part of the FF7 fanfare is used for the Victory theme, which is included in the pack.

I must say that playing with the 2.0a2 is an absolute blast. The vertex/texture hack is now PERFECT. Many of the animation are just awesome. Although room for minor tweaks and adjustments (in due time), Cloud rocks and I thank you.

Just wondering, any chance of later builds incorporating the cloud waiting stance? That's the one thing I reeeally wanna see, just curious if its being considered or in the works.

Also voice and sound  effects. I've read they are rather hard to do, just curious if there's any update or slight morsel on the subject.

Great work, you guys are AMAZING.

I couldn't agree more. I never was a fan of his English voice, and I only like his Japanese one because it's the same person who does Haseo's Japanese voice from .hack//G.U.

I'm playing Brawl with Japanese voices and Cloud sounds great with Ike's voice there too. XD

Someone else has already done the name stuff, and I posted my CSP on the PREVIOUS PAGE.

And there hasn't been a new version for Zack and KH Cloud yet, so there's no point in making CSPs.

...You're f***ing stupid, you know that?

You don't see the CSPs in the download because I already put the files together for you! You're going to have to put the MiscData file and the icon into the common5 or sc_character yourself using BrawlBox. And if you want a name, someone else already did that and you'll find it in the CSP section of the forum.

Edit: Here, you lazy crybaby. >_>

Also, if you were smart, you could've just saved the CSPs in that very post and put them int here using BrawlBox that way. It's VERY easy, even a braindead monkey could do it. >_>

I did, it works fine. Don't judge me as this is just my opinion, I think the colors are too vibrant and don't really go well with Cloud. Also, the black costume is too much like his standard costume. If it was made more like Dark Link or something, I believe it would be a better costume. Other than that, everything works fine. You don't have to listen to me if you don't want to since all you wanted to know was if it was okay. My very last suggestion is that we actually use in-game pics of him for his CSP so he blends in better with the other characters and looks more natural. So yeah, that's all I really have to say on it.

Slow down his idle motion.. he looks like he's on crack, make his animations smoother, I think that's the most important thing to do at the moment because most of them are REALLY choppy (Climhazzard is a good example), personally I don't think that Fire/Fira/Firaga suits cloud, I mean it really has nothing to do Cloud himself, If you can find someway to change the blade beam attack blue then that would make it a lot more "Cloud" like... and you should have to charge that attack too because it's rather overpowered. Actually the entire attack hack is rather over powered, tone it done a little. Even though there are some obvious flaws I have to say this is one of my favorite attack hacks, just keep working on it and you'll have it perfect soon.

@apprentice, but thats funny :D
i agree with you partway.. i feel as though some attacks could use either some nerfing or slowed down, ike was a heavy character, i dont think cloud should stray too far from ike.

i think the biggest problem is that he has no recoil after moves... therefore making it easy to chain or spam. his side B is a good example, not that its easy to chain, but i could get away with doing it 3 times, then using fira to finish it off against a heavier character, which i see as being a little too op.

the only one that i feel has the correct timing is the down A on the ground. speaking of down A's, using his areial is suicide :D, though i have hit an opponent with it on the way down, it feels so good to win the match like that, its almost cheap but at the same time its hard as hell to hit anything that quickly with it XD

Hello Jack! Today I made an animation for Cloud's waiting, I wanted a new one.  ;D

It's only one frame and I don't know if you planed to change his waiting animation but if you like it I can give it to you.

PS : I did it only for fun, my intention was not to take credit or anything. I wanted to test brawl box, it's the first animation I have made.

PPS : while I made that I realised how long making all of these animation must have been, I want to thank again all the team that worked on the project. :)

Yeah animating is time consuming. And there are times where what you see in brawlbox doesn't actually happen in-game.

Well I can't test it, I don't have my wii and I won't have it before this summer... :(

@Jack H. If you want (and if you're interested) I can try to complete his wait1.

Ya Know, I just realized something...Why hasn't anyone attempted to make the Advent Children costume for Cloud yet?

secondly, I realized that the Moveset/animations need a little work...

1)Cloud's Sword goes through his head when using Fire/a/ga and his Death taunt
2)side taunt...My goodness...That hand must be a ghost or something...
3)Final Smash: Remove the Flame from the sword on the intro swing, but replace the Explosive slashes (Maybe tinted green or blue like in Dissidia). Also, Make the animation different. the "warping" makes the attack look sloppily done.
4) Meteorain needs to be reworked. it is nearly impossible to use! Extend the range and pop Cloud up a bit to make the move a bit more usable

Personally, I really like it. If you want to finish it, that's up to you. However, if we add a new Wait animation, the transition from every move to wait position will look a little twitchy, but I MIGHT be able to fix this. Not sure. Still, I approve of this. =D

Thank you Fade! :)

I have aleady finished it but not ported to the other animations yet. Jack has still not answered so I prefer to wait before doing that.
