Title: Lower file size?
Post by: StarStack on September 13, 2014, 12:24:10 PM
After a lot of research on why stage hacks are not working. I may have discovered why they don't work. The filesize! The Feel Good Inc stage is 6045kb and Warioware Inc is 1309kb. Is there any way to the lower file size?

When you import textures, use CMPR. Try lowering the vertex count, however you do that.

You can also make the dimensions more low-res, like turning a 256x256 into a 128x128 or 64x64 picture, for example, if stages function like characters, and it doesn't bug it because the dimensions are off. I know that with at least some animation file textures, they have to remain a specific size.

Actually it doesn't mean jack. It still doesn't work. I've installed files exactly how they do in the videos. It doesn't work. It is really pissing me off >:(.

Are they not working as in not loading? Or are they freezing the Wii? Because if it is related to filesize, the Wii will freeze!

They load then they freeze before the stage comes on. But, I lowered the size to 1308kb, I tried it out and it crashed.

"Download includes Feel Good Inc. .brstm and module files so it can be used over Wario Ware Inc. or Pirate Ship." Did you put the .rel(s) in the "module" folder? Also, judging by how these two other versions of it got reported for freezing( http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=4863, (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=4863,) http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=4864 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=4864) ), it may not have to do with the filesize, but the stage itself might be the problem.

I did put the rel in the module folder. It still doesn't work. Instead of the "Now Loading" text appearing it just freezes with no text except the "READY TO FIGHT!" text.

Doesn't "Ready to Fight" appear after character select and not selecting the map? Because maybe it's actually a character hack of yours that's causing freezing; to test that, you should select the character(s) you did before, and not press +/Start, leaving you at the character select screen; if it still beeps, then it's not the stage.

No. When you pick a stage. Some text comes up saying ready to fight. Also, I was testing it with Normal Mario.

Then it's probably the stage itself(Not the filesize) that's glitching; you should tell the uploader and tell him, and maybe even use the report function on the mod, specifying that it freezes. Another possibility is that it isn't compatible with your setup, because didn't you say a while back that you were a PAL user? And I'm not entirely 100% sure that normal stages can work with PAL users.

I am a PAL user and this has happened to me on multiple stage hacks.

Then it's probably that some stages aren't compatible with PAL users; I'll ask on the forum for you, and hopefully, someone will know.

Get a US Brawl disk. There's really hardly any mods that support Pal.

Thank you for answering, DTST! :)

Thanks for the advice. But, a US disc wouldn't work on a PAL Console, will it?

through homebrew you can get it to work, another option is USB loading a US disc...
