Title: Paper Characters
Post by: UltIMa647 on September 18, 2015, 04:07:40 PM
I was thinking of trying to remake the characters (roy and mewtwo included) with a style similar paper Mario. All I need to know is how to
A: Make characters flat (similar to G&W)
B: Make characters have outlines.
Like the usual black dots for eyes, simplified textures, etc.
I still need help with the 2 things, but I hope to make this a really cool hack.
If you want to help, just PM.
PS: I want this to go over Project M, since I don't know how to hack vbrawl.

How to make characters have outlines; this is what you do:

In a modeling program, import the polygons that you want to have the outline. Copy the polygons, then make the copies bigger, until if you look at them, the original polygons are just fully inside the copied polygons. Have the copies' normals flipped, so that they're inside out. Have them textured to be a solid black color, and then import it in BrawlBox onto the character with "Import New Object".

How to do this + the 2D bit: I have no clue, but I do know this. Game&Watch's colors are in the form of palettes instead of textures, and so I don't believe the above technique will work in combination with the 2D effect.

Well the outline part may be hard, but I was thinking making the characters similar to KTH's Paper Mario over Mario.
