Title: How many character outfits/textures
Post by: spinksy on November 23, 2015, 10:27:54 AM
This is a question from a complete noob at this kind of thing
(I only just got project M hack to work on my PAL wii lol :kdance:)

I have read a thread on the smashmods forum on how to import more character textures
http://www.smashmods.com/forum/threads/a-simple-guide-to-replacing-character-textures.3932/ (http://www.smashmods.com/forum/threads/a-simple-guide-to-replacing-character-textures.3932/)

The main question I have with this is - does it matter how many duplicates of a character you have - as in I downloaded a few custom models to try and import but some of the characters they are for already have multiple skins anyway, like snake who has upto fitsnake09 - can I simply add more and more (fitsnake10, fitsnake11 etc) or is there a limit?

I understand this maybe a really stupid question but I'm just trying to learn and its pretty hard to find easy to understand noob friendly guides on this kind of thing.

The max amount of costumes a character can have is 10. Some exceptions allow 12 though.

But you have to code in the additional slots. You can't just re-name files.

It can be easily done in Brawl with BrawlEx (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=65113.0). Not sure what to do for Project M though, as I believe the additional slots are coded in via assembly.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

As a new comer to all this - when you approach this site (and others) and start downloading new skins it looks as though simply replacing files is enough lol.

I tried that method and managed to get a Luffy skin over ike - but after 10 seconds the game just crashes - now I know why lol.

I'll take a look at doing it as you said :-)
