Post by: Chi_be_me_mavrick on July 12, 2009, 12:14:12 PM
Hi new to the forms and txt hacking for that matter...i would like to make my own textures and i believe i can do tis right but one of my computers (my pc) says it doesn't have enough virtual memory to complete step 2 in re packaging the texture ...Is there a way to do this completely on my Mac ...? im stumped any thoughts

Not at all possible on a mac.

Umm... what are your computer's specs? It shouldn't take up THAT much memory to cause an error unless it is 1) a really old pc or 2) something wrong with that file.

We are talking about step2 for ASH right? I could understand CUPASH giving this sort of problem, but not ASH.

Well just asking because...

ASH: Characters (Usually ~2MB or less output file)
CUPASH: Character select portraits (~11MB or less output file, with lots of sub files)

Anyway, tried increasing the amount?
http://www.delete-computer-history.com/increase-virtual-memory.html

It essentially reserves a portion of your harddrive (usually in ratio to your RAM, anywhere from .5x to 2x) for memory usage. But for a more technical explanation...

1. You need the .pac file as well.

2. Yes, either run it through ASH, or run it through NTcompress (the code to compress it is in my item guide).

Open it with ASH, touch nothing, run step2, say no for every file you're asked about. The _new.pcs you get upon completion will be what you want.

Though... on a Mac... Dunno if that'll work.

Lz77ex = PCS > PAC
NTcompress (or ASH) = PAC > PCS
