I have installed many stage hacks months ago, but now I can't seem to install most new ones so maybe I am forgetting something obvious.

Whenever I install a stage hack, and I load the stage, the game freezes at the stage select screen. Sometimes it seems like it is just taking a long time to load, other times it makes a horrid noise. The console must be unplugged and will not turn off. I have gotten one stage to work, but I did the same thing for the others so I am confused. It may have to do with rel files.

I install stages to the folder pf/stage/melee. I tried to install a stage over rainbow cruise. I placed the downloaded file "STGDXRCRUISE.pac" in the melee folder. It also came with an rel file, so I put that in the pf/module folder. The name was "st_dxrcruise.rel" I load using Gecko OS and an SD card. When trying to play the stage, the select screen froze and it did not load.

The readme said nothing about obtaining models; I did read it. Sorry, I am new to all this stuff so I just assumed pac files had models and textures in them. I got it to work finally! It was the pcs that i needed. Thanks everyone for the help!

I dont think we are on the same page here. I downloaded from the vault the new character, and put the .pac files where they are supposed to go. Those were the only files in the download. It makes no sense that there would be separate places to download the models that go with the completed character, so I must be doing something wrong.

I installed 4 .pac files that came with the download. FitMarth, FitMarthBroken, FitMarthFreeFall, and FitMarthMotionEtc (all pac files). Do I rename them to anything so the models/textures will show up? Thanks.

So its not in the Pac file? I am not sure where I can download the models and where to put them.

When I download a PSA, I get the new moveset, but the actual character is the same. For example, I downloaded SEPHIROTH by Hollow, and he still looked like marth but had the new moveset. What am I doing wrong? I use the file patch code method, riivolution, and I have the US version. Thanks.

When vertex modding, is it possible to alter the number of vertices (by deleting them or creating new objects) or would that cause errors? If you cannot add/delete vertices the direct way, are there ways around doing so (like deleting faces instead and leaving isolated vertices)? Thanks.

If i were to leave it as it is the stage would crash so i have to change it to this:

Why do you change it to those values? Would they be the same for every stage? Thanks.

One last question: is it possible to alter the number of vertices a model uses? For example, say I want to delete the head of a model, or add another head. Could this be done through the model, or would that not work? I am guessing no because the UV map would get messed up/the 3ds script wont read it correctly.

I don't think you have any other options; as far as I know Mediafire is the only site that contains all of Brawl's files. But I would like to know if there is another way to bulk download as well.

Ok, thanks. I've also noticed that some of the files seem corrupted and cant be downloaded, such as the dededemotion file.

Is there another download link for the "Data Partition (NTSC-U)" files? Mediafire does not allow free bulk downloading, and I would have to download each file one at a time.

So it really is possible to create an entirely new character from scratch? I must say that is pretty amazing.

I'm new here so I am looking for (in general) how far one can go when hacking brawl. For example, is it possible to create a character with a completely different animations? Can new special effects be created? Say you wanted to have pikachu's lightning bolt look like a laser, or have a character that can use both lightning bolt and warlock punch. Is any of that remotely doable? I have modded for PC before and I know there must be limitations, and I would like to be aware of them. Thanks!

I have never downloaded a new stage before, so I am not sure how it all works. I think I basically understand what needs to be done though. My only concern is that it will mess up the original stage. I read that using the .rel files can make the original stage unplayable when you no longer want the mod. Is this true? Thanks.
