I thought I would mention it here, because this is where Fighter Kirby was born. I'm looking for someone to take over this project, because apparently there is still a want for this to be completed and I'm way out of the brawl hacking limelight now. Send an AIM at MrUpsideDownMan if you think you are qualified to finish this, and we'll talk about you being charge. Please be well-versed in PSA and BrawlBox, at least.

DANGIT THANYOU I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS .-.
Good job getting to this before me..I was just searching for this thread X)

Now if we could just get a sign that hes seen it.......

...

To be honest, I haven't played Brawl in about a month. My interest is pretty low, but I'll try to get to it sometime this weekend. I was thinking of using BrawlBox to fix some other things, like giving him his Lucario copy ability charging animations instead of item throw animation for his hadouken. Hopefully I can find a better animation for the dive kick, too.

Don't get discouraged, if its this hard, then that just means it'll be even more worth it to finish it (If that makes sense)

And now from Kamina: "Believe in yourself. Not in the me that believes in you. Not in the you that believes in me. believe in the you that believes in yourself."

Quoting dead dudes for the mother f*cking win

Kamina dies? OMG SPOILERSASDGFJASDHGLEHRGIUFBNNB

He is not overpowered.

He is unbelievably overpowered. If you honestly think this is a balanced character, I'm going to blunt and say you need to learn to play better.

I just got done fully testing lightning, and it's almost as bad as wind, I think. The jab was really good, maybe not broken good, but still very useful. Utilt and dtilt were, again, pretty much useless. Ftilt was a bit too good, the range was beyond necessary, and didn't hit right next to you. Fsmash was reasonably balanced, maybe even a little too weak. Usmash was weird, the first hitbox appears before the lightning does, and the damage was a bit too high for such a quick hit, but the range was good. I suggest putting the first hit right when the lightning strikes, and use the second lightning strike as a sourspot (PSA characters need more sourspots, this doesn't just apply to you). Dsmash was nice, I wouldn't complain if you didn't change it, but a little more knockback wouldn't hurt. The aerials weren't as bad as winds, but they could still use a little changing. I don't know what the heck is going on with nair, but it's range is too big and it's gfx are even bigger. The knockback doesn't serve any purpose until around 200%; you should increase the BKB to fix that. You should keep fair the way it is, but get rid of the multihit effect. Bair has too much range, it's way too easy to wop with it, even with the ending lag, which isn't even a problem if you land because of the lack of landing lag. Uair and dair were really good, but the direction they send the opponent seems a bit weird. The specials were wacky. Neutral B was weird, overall I'd say it's a somewhat balanced move, but there's no need for the final hit to hit someone on the other side of freaking New Pork City. Tone that down, it isn't Bolting. Side B was probably the most broken move in his entire moveset, the other two elements included. The range on it, the almost instant hit, and the ability to cancel it right after any hit besides the first into anything else, including another side-b, made it pretty much impossible for anyone to get close. You need to add more start-up lag to that move. It's hard to hit with down B, but it really pays off if you do, so it's reasonably balanced. Up B, once again would be much better off with control stick input, imo. As for what it does, I think you should get rid of a good portion of the buildup, and make going forward or backwards a little more useful for recovery. On the ground, he seems to get a boost to those two directions, which can often send him shooting off the stage.

Overall, he's really overpowered. The main move you need to fix is side b. That has incredible range and hits almost instantly. I found myself using pretty much just that, and there was almost no way to get around it. Even though it can only be used on the ground, if they tried to approach over top of the range it gets I just simply ran from where I was and controlled the area they landed with it. It got to the point where I was only using that, and occasionally ftilt and bair. A bunch of the other moves should get buffs, too, to prevent people from only using three attacks out of the entire moveset you built.

Now, I know you're going to say that to balance this out, he has no kill moves, but there really is no way out of his offense. Don't even try that excuse.

As a final note, this time the graphics weren't bad, but just too large in some obvious cases. I know he's supposed to be "the greatest magician ever" and all, but could you make them a suitable size for brawl? Also, the SFX were just plain bad. You need to add more subtle sounds, such as the rustling of clothes or the swoosh of arm swings. He moves as quiet as a ninja half the time. Not only that, most of the hits were slashes instead of electricity.

(By the way, I'm pretty sure what Kenji meant was to give Soren a way to go from lightning to wind or whatever in the air)

sonys mascot should still b crash...he was awesome!

its becuz crash has been milked too much. soooo many games, spinoffs, cross-overs, and cameos. for some reason... mario is the only one that can be milk yet not die...

It's because Mario has very little personality. You don't view it as one guy doing too many things without ever changing (which is why I get fed up with animes that go on and on, like Naruto and Bleach), because you either don't really view him as a person, just a generic hero, or you fill in his personality yourself, and that way he can grow character-wise, according to you.

Last argument to defend me:
Wind should not have any killing power.
For that you have the other two movesets.
Why do you think have I made the changing so fast?
He has no three movesets. He has one big.
(I know it's the hardest thing to learn that you must switch attacks.
Thank you for analysing Soren and giving a honest answer.

I realized that, and it's actually a very good idea. The problem I have is you don't have a reason to switch out of wind. Even though you're killing at well over 200% with his low-knockback moves, he never gets hit because some of his attacks leave no opening and have huge, disjointed hitboxes.

I tested him out, and I got to say, I didn't really like it all that much. There's a lot of potential, though. You just really need to fix some things.

I found every move for wind to be either useless or broken. Overall though, it's omega broken, even with having less killing power than anything I've ever seen. It's literally impossible to get hit because the moves have such crazy range and almost zero lag. Not only that, I did a 16 hit fair combo with him in training mode. IN VBRAWL. I don't know how you managed to make a move with that much combo ability, but it needs to get fixed. Bair is just as bad, if not worse when you wall of pain it. 3 bairs in one sh, with range like that? Even if it is only 5 damage, it's crazy, after taking into account it has just as much combo ability as fair. Also, none of your aerials have landing lag. You might have done that by accident, if so, the way to fix that is by setting RA-Bit[30]. If you land and that bit is set, you get landing lag. Uair, dair, and nair all seemed unusable, especially with fair and bair as alternatives. As for the ground moves, the jab was too good, the tilts were pretty much useless, and the smashes had way too many IASA frames. As for the specials, neutral B and side B were crazy, and not in a good way. Down B was alright, but if you're not playing 1v1, it just invites someone else to attack you if you hit someone. Up b was okay, but a bit hard to control. If I got used to it, it might be good, but I'd just as soon want it to respond to the control stick instead.

As a final note, it seems like the GFX were a bit weird looking, you might want to put something in the random offsets and rotations for the graphic effects.

I'll get to the lightning and fire later.

Well, those don't have any meaning to me, and I've been working with the hex of the pac files, so I think I have a little better understanding of how the files work than other people do.

(btw, if you make a 80008000 event in PSA, it has 128 parameters, lol)

I know for certain that the sound carries into the second to last hex digit, too. I thought that the first two first digits were priority.

Can you give me some sample "Brawl Language"?

shikamaru is cooler then naruto just putting it out there >.>

So true

preech it brother. hes like the best person in existence.

leave garaa to the sandbox foo

Actually, I think most characters from the show are better than Naruto. What makes that even worse is that I think only Shikamaru and Rock Lee are actually good characters. I never got to Shippoden though, and I heard Naruto actually matures or something, but as I know him he's just annoying as all hell.

I'll probably tweak it, but I'm not changing it entirely.

From what I know, Dantarion is making a super PSA called OSA (for Open Smash Attack). The way PSA works right now, each sub-action and action event list fits snugly into place in the file, but if you add to it, it has to move it to the end where there is room. This leaves holes in the code where the event lists were originally that are just wasting space. I can only guess that OSA will smush all of the event lists together if that happens, getting rid of those holes. Now, I'm no expert on this, but I'm fairly sure that's how it works.

No problem. I have no way of stopping you, and even if I did, there's no benefit from keeping my work to myself. If people can learn from my work, so much the better (:
