Ok well thanks for the responses everyone. I'll try that and see what happens.

That's the problem though. Some of them I did download anyway, and I did run a scan on the file with antivirus, and it did come up as infected in every instance. There are some files I can download here without issue, but quite a few of them turn up badly.

I bet you're using Norton or McAfee, aren't you.

Yeah, but in some cases even the dumbass router software is saying the uploader's adress behind mediafire is dangerous. I've downloaded mods for SEVERAL other games before, and this is the only site where issues have really came up consistently. I've also been able to download several mods from brawl vault in the past without problems. Somehow I don't think these are false positives, if that is what you are suggesting. Do you know anyone else who has these issues if they are false positives?

Also many of the files that are flagged as "infected" appear to be fairly old (like at least 2 years old since being modified). Is it possible that something could have corrupted the files which were hosted on mediafire for a long time? Sorry I don't know too much about this and just want to know what exactly is going on, or if there is a way to fix this.

Help / Several download links containing viruses
June 01, 2013, 04:39:53 PM
I'm sorry but this is getting frustrating. I've pretty much had to stop downloading from brawlbox, because several of the files or the mirrors had a virus or were flagged as dangerous. The worst example of this happened when I tried to download around 8 different mods in one day, and all of them were stopped because the mirrors were dangerous. In all cases where I decided to download the file anyway, it was flagged for a virus and had to be deleted.

I want to know is it just me, or is the amount of viruses in the released content increasing dramatically?
When I first started using brawlvault, everything was fine, but now it seems like almost every mod I try to download (from this site only) has some sort of malware in it. Again I must emphasize that all of the web threats are coming from links posted on this site to user created mods on mediafire. Luckily, the links to the default brawl files have not been affected yet. Any help would be really appreciated.

I know that, and I have a plan for that, I am working on a touhou boss PSA for toon link which will be compatible with zelda models (meant to be used with all my zelda touhou imports) and one touhou boss PSA for peach models

Yeah a boss Psa would be great. Right now I'm using an older version of goddess Zelda for Yuyuko though.

Also it's a shame about the whole hitbox problem with Youmu, but at least you're aware of it. I'm really sorry to ask you this while you're already working on a bunch of other projects at once, but is there any chance that the bone problems for Youmu's sword will be fixed sometime in the future? Sorry again, but I had to ask.

I tried Youmu, the hitboxes on her sword seem to be all wonky. I'll redownload just in case it was something on my end, but I just wanted to bring that to your attention since about 1/4 of her moves don't seem to connect for me.

I just learned how to mod the wii two days ago purely because I wanted to use the Deadpool you made. Holy crap it's the best thing ever in brawl.

For some reason when I try to download this, it says there's a virus in it. Any chance you could re-upload it somewhere without one?

update: I'm not sure what's going on with mediafire, but it seems like they have some files that randomly get hacked. Somehow I tried downloading it again and this time the file was safe.
