Hey All,

I just wanted to say that this really blew my mind  Awesome Face ... me not beeing the pro at brawl hacking that i want to be, I had no idea that stuff like that was even possible  Azn , rigging the complete model to new bones and such.

Id really like to help you out as much as i can or even merge the 2 volnutt projects. The only problem here is that i kinda lack the time atm to add much to this. but if you don't mind me probably not beeing avaible here for a week or two from time to time you can add me as an animator and PSAer.

didn't had the time yet to read through this topic in its entirety (dunno what aproach you're plannung on the moveset and such) just wanna say that this gets me totally pumped up ^^

Oh, I'm really sorry if that isn't ok with you :/. If you really want i can take it down and switch it out - (though its been floating around since beta 1.0). I took your jigglypuff mod and put it over kirby simply because i thought it looked totally awsome ^^ - since i gave proper credit to you I hope you can just see it as a respectfull appreciation.

Yeah me to Tongue ... but I dunno how to fix that yet (i think it's somehow related to the bones but that part looks fine to me :S ). Anyway as i said before the next update will take a long time because most stuff that is already there will get revamped as well. I Hope it will be worth the extra waiting time. So yeah, better deal with it or search for an alternative hack that goes over rob until then Tongue

unfortunately there is not much to tell, sorry folks.

still animating, last time i counted there were ~60 animations left that need to be done  Undecided. Seems like the whole animation-stuff is taking even longer than i expected ... so if someone wants to help out  Angel ...
also i was a little distracted the last 2 weeks so i didn't really do much for the project. dunno about the other teammembers though.

so, precise status-report:
Animation: probably around 40-50 % done

PSA: 1% (just a little bugfixing, nothing really revampt so far)

I just want to say, I'm really glad someone with talent managed to pick up the project. I just wasn't skilled enough to finish. I'd offer to share resources... but you've done everything I have and more.

I kinda dropped off the Brawl hacking circuit for a while, sorry I didn't respond to your asking permission. Feel free to continue, I can't wait until this is complete.

Thats really great to hear - it always bothered me and i really didn't want to steal your work or anything. Also big thx again, if you wouldn't have done such a nice job back then i probably would've never continued it. I just saw your work with many difficult stuff already cleared and it feld like a total waist to let this die at this point.

if you're really that out of practice and all it's probably no use to ask, but if you wanna join the staff you'd be welcome ^^

anyway gotta go back to animating now Tongue

PS: @pervy: thx you took the request, looks cool ... im pretty sure ill include it in the next release Wink

Hi there folks, just in case anyone hasn't noticed yet: ssbbtailsfan released his soundmod the other day - using this will give volnutt his original voice from TvsC instead of just R.O.Bs random beepings. Also this release will be supported in the future realeses so it will be compatible - so no need to wait, get it now! Wink

also notice that ssbbtailsfan worked with the outdated rockman, so this DL does NOT contain any of the other changes we made since the first beta release ... sry Wink

btw: added the release to the first post as well

If you feel like it or think that some people out there might enjoy it just go ahead - if not im ok with that as well. that's really your decision

as for the weapons: if you look at the picture you see that volnutts right arm looks exactly like it should - no unneeded accesories ^^ (the left arm still has the shieldweapon just because i think it looks cool  Cool ). If it comes to useing the other weapons im at my limit here and bound to the knowledge of my teammates. With the solution you see in the picture it's possible to make the weapons appear/dissappear during certain animations (just like the drill before only showed up during certain animations like the down-smash) but anything beyond that get's tricky (though not completely impossible either). unfortunately my fellow hackers seem to be a bit busy right now so i don't expect any weapon-related progresses within the next few days or weeks :/

Those are some awesome CSP's! Also posting because it's been 2 weeks since the last post (I've seen too many good ideas die, I don't want this one to die as well), has there been any progress in the PSA?

Not gonna happen anytime soon bro. I have a lot of spare time on my hand for at least ... another two months T.T - for the better or worse that time will mostly go for volnutts benefits Cheesy

It's just a little quiet on my side because currently there is not much going on besides animating volnutts lego-body ^^ - and i have nothing of interest to post here except for the usual "yay i got animation x done today  Awesome Face "

the PSA hasen't met any significant changes just a few tweaks - it's a little smaller in filesize now, the code's been cleaned up and ssbbtailsfan provided a sound-hack so volnutt will have his original TvsC voice instead - i haven't really tested it yet but seems as if it's complete for the most part.

@pervy: speaking of colors - your ava kinda gives me ideas  Angel

so here are some minor infos just to keep you on track what we did the last few days:
we decided to stick with a pure volnutt PSA - so expect his sideB and upB to be revamped completly.
Also we successfully reattached the weapons to seperated bones - so Volnutt will have switchable weapons in the final version in one way or another.
for now we mainly focus on refining and completing Rocks animations - though Smashhackers and IWasAPerson helped me out and are fixin' alot of different issues as well. big THX to you guys again  Happy Face

sry dude never had him freeze for me Sad. though i never used the "1 player only code" either so it might be that ... just sayin'. thx for the hint though, definatley will look into it before the next release. when does it freeze for you?

What I meant was just make them external graphics. Rob has like 24 slots for external graphics and most of which you aren't using for megaman or anything. All you have to do is delete all of the extra polygons off of megamans model and just leave the weapons. Then make them appear on Megamans arms when you need em to as external graphics.
yep external graphics would be my prefered solution as well ... and though i never tried that before either deleting everything but the desired weapon and then put the model in as external gfx sounds easy enough.  only problem here so far is that we tried deleting polygons recently twice (with polygon deleter and manual hexing) and it always seems to screw up the model in brawl :/ ... most likely the same thing will happen if they're used as external gfx

@Difegue: Did you have similar problems as well at some point with volnutt?

About Volnutt's weapons:
The drill arm is the only one who's attached to a bone, as you saw.
The other weapons cannot be moved and have to be removed through polygon editing.

Actually, is there a kind of animation which allows polygons to be visible/invisible? BEcause that's the only way you could pull off using all the weapons.

If you want, I have a model of Volnutt with some polys deleted so he has his normal arm on the left hand and the buster on the right one. I used it as a stage prop for my Gesellschaft so it's in there, along with the polygon indexes in a MiscData(too lazy to get them back and post here) :3


Thats the point where I'm not sure, because all the other weapons are seperated polygon-groups on there own and not just ... some kind of giant-polygon-blob or something like i initially imagined. The only problem is that all these seperated polygons/groups are all attached to the same bone, so they can just be moved/animated/manipulated all together or not at all. but if it would be possible to reattach the Polygons to one of Rocks many (MANY!) unused bones they could be animated.

to make bodyparts invisible via animation is pretty easy. You can just change the scale of the attached Bone to 0x,0y,0z ... that way the rockman from this project still got all his bodyparts in his modelfile. Only downside is that this increases the motion.pac's filesize

yeah as said before id prefere a solution where his other weapons are usable, but if it turns out to be impossible that would at least save me/us some work. so you know ... sharing is caring  AWESOME 2.0! Im srs here

Id really like this PSA to make sense with as many different megamans as possible, thats why i put the dash there. For the neutral B it should be pretty easy to replace the laserbeam with something that looks more like bullets, so yeah - mashinegun is not very unlikely in a future release. But the more important thing would be to attach this article to another bone so it actually comes out of his blaster and not just ... out of nowhere in front of his head. unfortunatly i dont really know how to do that (pretty sure this has to be done in hex though)

for now it's just an idea but I was thinking about making his neutral B switch between mashinegun, shield and drill everytime it's used ... together with his neutral B getting stronger over time if not used this could add a lot of depht ^^



I would switch the forward-air and the down-air attacks, the forward air brings him downwards at an angle while the down-air makes him point his drill forward.

The Max Shining Laser final smash looks pretty awesome though, I randomly get it instead of the ROB final, but then ROB's kicks in after the initial blast.

For a beta, this is pretty amazing.

Neutral B is kinda too powerful though.

Also, 4 jumps is kind of pushing it, since his Up-B is already practically Pit flight.
i see where youre coming from, the downAir needs some serious makeover and is basically another placeholder right now. I think this will be changed to something like Links downAir though. Id rather not switch them cause that would screw up the concept for his attacks i had in mind beeing:
side Smashs/Airs = Blaster
up down Smashs/Airs = Drill

Also id like to make clear one more time: this PSA is balanced for Brawl Minus If you play regular Brawl, Brawl+ or BB Rock is way overpowered and i'm well aware of that. There will be a more balanced version for you normal kittens out there at some point. but for now it would only slow down the development process, so be patient.


I was wondering if it would be possible to implement the Blade Arm in some form in the PSA?
I hope so ... from what i know about vertex-hacking it should be pretty easy (for someone else who is not me Azn) to deform his drill into a flat beam sword trail and paint it all green. The question is more if this would make sense for an all Volnutt-PSA (does Volnutt have a Beam Sword? i really dont know ^^)



as some of you guys don't seem to realise: I haven't really decided yet in which direction Rock's PSA will go form here on. Thats why this moveset is somewhere in between elements from Volnutt and other stuff that comes from totally different Rockmans and probably don't fit Volnutt all that well.

Where this will go now likely depends if i can recrute a talented vertex(and maybe texture)-hacker. If so i would really like to make a PSA that works with every Rockman more or less (Volnutt just as well as X or Battlenetwork or whatnot) but if the alternate outfits are limited by my knowledge about all this stuff this will most likely turn out as the most true depiction of megaman volnutt i can come up with. Id Prefer it to be the first scenario though since i think that would please more people.


also RoB has around 20 different articles and external graphic effects (thats quite a lot!) of which only his neutral B Laser thingy is used in this PSA ... So there is a Lot of room for future graphic improvements. Adding a sword, a huge ~ Final shining Laser graphic, shildeffects, Robotic Mashines for him to ride or even his signature megaman-helmet should be a peace of cake if someone can help providing fitting resources ^^

but for now i know just as much as you in which direction this hack will go. We'll just have to wait and see

@All: Just wanna say again, Im overwhelmed how positiv your impressions are. to be honest, I wasn't really that satisfied with the outcome and I do think my current project (which i will keep a secret for now, don't bother asking) looks way better so far, but your reactions make me want to continue this project even more  Awesome Face


Wow, this is really fun to play. Seeing how well this works so far as a TvC import is extremely impressive, remembering how much of a pain TvC Zero is to work with. Great job so far, can't wait to see what else you can do with Volnutt.

And I can help you out with the shield glitch and grab glitch, both of them are related to Volnutt's bone structure. Come to think of it, I'd be more than happy to help you out with animations as well if you want the help. Again, I've worked on the TvC Zero model, and while it's a pain in the ass I know my way around it. Anyways, great job on this, it's really fun.
Yeah sure. I mean animation is not really a thing where I "need" help in the way that i could just do this all on my own, but off course, the more poeple help, the faster the progress ^^ and especially working with the haveN (item) Bone is really disturbing  Im srs here

afaik the glitches somewhat relate to rocks throwN bone but the problem here is maybe that ROB has a ridiculous amount of bones on his own. therefor its pretty much impossible for the last bone to not be an added one. or maybe there is a way around that i don't know about. just wanted to say it's MAYBE not as easy to fix as it should, since RoB is a B*tch  Grin


Oh, the project's picked back up?

Well no not really, since I'm not at all related to Digiholics original Team and noone of the old team works on this one. I did ask Digiholic for permission but since he seems not to be active anymore i got no answer so i ... just have to guess it's ok with him  not impressed . We're just talking about the model injection anyway (still big THX - it wouldn't have been possible without them)

@All: thx im always gratefull for any kind of feedback. As I said i would really like to continue working on this project, but i kinda hit a roadblock. For now none of the problems mentioned could be fixed by me ... since it requires advanced knowledge of Vertex Hacking, Tabuu and probably hex ... all things i cant really pull of.

just as a sidenote: so long dont expect any balanced version or something till the first complete release.

Thats kinda true but doesn't that count for every megaman  Grin but still one more reason i'd like his alt. outfits to be X and Battle network ^^

sry I thought that was clear. He is over RoB. which is probably the main appeal about this hack since everythings better than rob
