Help & Tutorials / Help / Fixing Eye Textures on Brawl Characters

Hi there. I've completely finished a custom model for Sheik, however whenever I test the model in game the eyes show up extremely glitchy and pixellated. I don't know what to do to fix the eyes. Is there a specific workflow for making sure all of the textures, shaders and other parameters needed for the eyes are correct?
I've literally searched Google for the past 4 hours and have found nothing but indirect results. Please help!!!

Please, if you do fix anything let me know what you did. I'm mainly trying to learn how to make models and port them successfully. Also, if you know how eyes work, I can't seem to get them working at all. Just a bunch of texture glitches or this mysterious 'Brawl' texture that shows up in the MDL0. (In the Textures folder under MDL0)
The help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks JK. I was uncertain of which texture type I should use, but if CMPR works the best then I'll go with that.
Also, I'm counting 6,113 polys (tri's) with a total of 3401 vertices on the original Sheik model. Now, after the tweaks and modifications I made to the model (breasts, face, and hair models).... I managed to actually reduce the poly count... to about 5756 triangles and 3046 vertices. So I know the geometry is much smaller now, though I think that the original MDL0 was compressed differently than how 3ds Max tends to handle DAE files.
Nonetheless I'll try CMPR for the textures I've got. Thanks for that tip!

Indeed I didn't. /facepalm *smacks head Lol. I noticed my exported mdl0 model is about 50% bigger than the original game mdl0. Might have lots to do with untriangulated polys. If you want, here are the files I've worked on thus far. I only have the PACs saved, as I can easily convert them to PCS in BrawlBox. ZeldaS.Sheik.rar (6.9 MB) https://mega.co.nz/#!LhIgWZyK!EQeYwj5MdHs6kDvtaUATnFs87Mh_89yBLEg5dTd1uSo
Edit: No... no, I did check Triangulate in the dialog. My mistake. The model is in fact triangulated.

You may have a point. Though I'm not entirely sure if Sheik's files are over-limit, whatever limit that should be, it does seem to work without error in Project M. I sent Nanobuds a copy of my project files, but if you think you can find out what's wrong with it I'll send you the files as well. Now, call this intuition, but I think there may be something in relation to the codes loaded from RSBE01.gct. I managed to install several Minus characters, including my modded Sheik, under the Project M engine and everything seems to work fine. Also, the only major difference in my files is that I added a texture for Zelda's face, in addition to the already-existing textures that Sheik has. This could very well be the problem. Overall, the model I made has fewer polygons than Sheik's original model, even with the new ponytail and body (I'm the master of low polys, ). Thus the model's size should be smaller. I'll do a direct MDL0 comparison (Old ➙ New) soon to verify this. Edit: The original mdl0 is 264 KB (271,244 B). The modified mdl0 is 409 KB (419,352 B). Difference of 145 KB (148,108 KB), or a 54.6% increase in file size.

Working on a Sheik model that has her face revealed. Still uncertain about the current hairstyle. I may model a more conventional kunoichi style with frontal bangs and a higher positioned ponytail. But not yet. Besides that, completely reworked the body. Has a more feminine shape. Also, it's fully rigged and articulated alongside the original Sheik model. However I'm having two issues... First, her eyes will not show properly (in game) and I'm unsure how to get them back. If I do add Zelda's eye shapes w/textures, it causes problems, and sometimes makes the game freeze. Even though I added the textures. In Brawl minus, the entire game freezes at stage select. Project M, however, has no major problems loading up thus far. <- This indicates a serious problem in the model itself, and I have no idea how to fix it! (I make models, not code games! :3) (No screenshots yet)
