That would require an SD card that's at least 4GB, which means SDHC. I don't have any idea if it's doable or not, but I know SDHC cards cause a problem in a lot of Wii homebrew apps...
I found some references to a tool by Dantarion to compile the latest information from his wiki (http://opensa.dantarion.com/wiki/Wiki2PSA), but the download from that page gives me a 404. Where should I look for the most up-to-date text files for PSA?
I'm a little confused by the wording in both the OP and the video, so let me make sure I understand this correctly.
EXAMPLE: I want to port a Marth hack that has already been ported to another character (Diddy) over, say, Olimar.
I open an original ft_marth.rel and the hack's ft_diddy.rel in HxD and compare the two (Ctrl+K).
I change the 4 bytes in the hack's ft_diddy.rel that the compare operation comes up with to represent the module number and instance slot of the character I'm erasing (Olimar) according to the OP and the wiki pages.
I save the modified ft_diddy.rel as ft_pikmin.rel and add that to my sd card, along with the Marth hack that I've renamed to FitPikmin.pac and so forth.
I just want to say a HUGE thank you for this pack. I've been out of the Brawl scene for almost two years now...what a great surprise it was to find this as soon as I got back in! I did some finagling and was able to incorporate it into my existing Riivolution setup, so I can confirm that it works there.
Could you make it Guardian instead of Guardian Field? If damage reduction is possible, do that. If not, could it you make it so he has super armor frames instead? (it would be a useful move to dodge final smashes or as a nice panic move to avoid getting smashed)
I agree...but on DSmash? That would be a really odd place for it, but that's where I'd been thinking of GF.
@Reiner - At the moment I'm thinking of implementing SLB for Kratos in much the same way as I implemented LB for Asch - a thrust and a lightning strike. Casting Lightning would feel to me like exactly the same thing, sans the thrust. I can play with graphics and try to make it feel different (and of course the damage/KB would be different too) but ultimately it would feel kind of redundant to me. I like Lightning better as well, though, so I'm still thinking about it. What kinds of stuff could I do to make the two moves more different?
So here's an updated moveset (also updated in the OP): FTilt: Sonic Thrust UTilt: Light Spear? DTilt: Grave Blade FSmash: Super Lightning Blade USmash: Light Spear Cannon DSmash: Guardian Field?
B: Fire Ball / Eruption ^B: Victory Light Spear? >B: Wind Blade / Air Thrust vB: Judgment
Final: Shining Bind
I'm currently looking for some good GFX for Judgment.
Ah, so Kratos does get Guardian Field in the PS2 version? I've only played the GC one, but I know Guardian Field from Luke/Asch (obviously ). Maybe I will do it, but the mechanics will have to be different from Asch's to keep things interesting. I want to keep the possibility of a Kratos/Asch battle actually being fun.
Today is my junior recital, so by this weekend I should be majorly back in the swing of things. Thanks for your patience, guys - I'm gonna get this done.
@PrideToBeMe - it's not out yet, but I'm working on it. I'd say it's about 20% done at the moment.
@Reiner - thanks for the comments! A few thoughts:
* I'd love Kratos to have Thunder Blade; I just have no idea how to code it. Also, it seems to conflict with giving him Super Lightning Blade.
* I agree that Demon Fang doesn't feel like an FTilt, but I feel like he should have it somewhere and I don't know where else. Sonic Thrust could work, though...it would probably feel almost exactly like SLB except without the lightning, though (and less damage, ofc).
* Asch's B-Air is a false projectile and is limited by the mechanics of false projectiles. You'll find that it stays roughly level with his feet, so if he's still ascending then so will the projectile. I don't know how else to code it. I could go for a little farther and faster, but when I tried giving it knockback it became way too spammable.
* Slag Assault is still really poor, I know. Part of that is that it's gotta be a custom animation and I'm really lousy at those, but it's still on my to-do list.
* It wasn't my intention to make OL a once-per-match thing, just once every so many hits; I'll take a look.
I apologize for the delay, guys. I've had some Real Life issues come up (next Wednesday I'm giving a recital and I'm kind of freaked out about that) but I'm starting to get back into my Brawl mindset and preparing to work some more on Kratos.
I'd kind of hate to give him Guardian Field since it isn't really his tech (or even in ToS), but I suppose for lack of anything better it would be okay.
@Mr.N - Yeah, Soren is still my absolute favorite Marth hack (other than my own, and I still think you did a better job ).
I love comments! Seriously, I'm happy to hear what people think, whether good or bad. All I ask is that if you tell me that something sucks, tell me why it sucks so I can improve it.
ASCH THE BLOODY (v2.0)
Quite possibly the cruelest of the Six God-Generals of the Order of Lorelei, and he has a strange hatred for Luke...
I released this several months ago, but it's long since faded into the depths and I've since completely re-created the PSA from scratch. I've also tried very hard to make him balanced.
So here we go! Without further ado, the moveset:
A combo - 3 sword swings. The last one can combo into Havoc Strike (A+B), Fang Blade (A+X), or Rending Thrust (A+Z).
FTilt: Rending Thrust - A low forward thrust that sends shockwaves upwards. Can be comboed into Havoc Strike (A+B), Fang Blade (A+X), or Raging Blast (A+Z). Otherwise, one final hit will give a significant amount of knockback with fair killing potential.
UTilt: Havoc Strike - Asch jumps slightly forward, then descends with energy in a downward kick. Trips the enemy.
DTilt: Slag Assault - Asch does a flip and drives his blade into the ground. (This move is still heavily a WIP - the custom animation is hanging me up. Suggestions welcome.)
FSmash: Devil's Inferno - A slightly modified version of Marth's typical FSmash. A fireball deals a little bit of burn damage to the enemy before Asch swings his sword. The actual sword hit's knockback has been increased slightly as well, and the move now does fire damage for obvious reasons.
USmash: Light Spear - A slightly modified version of Marth's typical USmash. Waves of energy knock enemies up and into Marth's blade as he thrusts upward. Kills around 150%. If I can ever figure out how to do custom animations, I'll probably try one on this.
DSmash: Guardian Field - Asch surrounds himself with a field of energy that knocks back foes and reflects projectiles. Its primary use is as a defensive skill, and it's got a fair amount of ending lag.
Neutral B: Demon Fist - A small shockwave of energy. It travels about half of FD. There is NO knockback whatsoever to this move to prevent spamming.
Up B: Fang Blade - Asch slashes forward, then straight up. It's not a bad killing move, but like most Up-B's, it sends him into special fall. Holding A+B will combo into Havoc Strike and send Asch back down to the ground quickly (that part is still a little funny looking).
Side B (ground): Lightning Blade - A forward thrust followed by a bolt of lightning. This is one of Asch's best moves if you can get the distance right - you have to be right up in their face to hit with both the sword and the lightning.
Side B (air): Swallow Fury - Asch delivers two aerial hits that lead into two more if the second one connects. The last hit has good killing potential.
Down B: Counter - Unchanged for now. I'd like to move Guardian Field to the Down-B, actually, but then I'd have to think of a suitable DSmash...
Aerials are unchanged for now.
Just like in TotA, combos are everything with Asch. To use one, you need to hold A and the button of the arte (move) to follow as you perform an arte. For example, the 3rd hit of his A combo will go directly into Fang Blade (Up-B) with no lag if you hold A and X. There is one additional move that is ONLY accessible by comboing from Rending Thrust (FTilt):
Combo only: Raging Blast - A burst of energy in front of Asch. There is a series of weak hits that lead into a single strong one with a lot of knockback.
One final bit of information on Asch: I have included the Over Limit mechanic from TotA as well. As Asch takes hits, his OL meter will charge (of course, it's invisible in Brawl). When fully charged, you will notice a subtle shadow effect surrounding Marth during his idle animation. When this happens, trigger your UTaunt and Marth will go into OL mode. Basically, this means he's invincible for a short time, though I have plans to implement much more...

When OL is activated, you shine so it's obvious what's going on.

Moveset (comments welcome!):
FTilt: Sonic Thrust UTilt: Light Spear? DTilt: Grave Blade FSmash: Super Lightning Blade USmash: Light Spear Cannon DSmash: Guardian Field?
B: Fire Ball / Eruption ^B: Victory Light Spear? >B: Wind Blade / Air Thrust vB: Judgment

Spells will depend on how long the player charges the move.
Look, this is what you need to do. Just copy and paste all of the stuff from your PAC into the new one while using Smash Attacks 0.2.1, okay? I had to do the same thing with Hyper Sonic when I worked on him. It'll work just fine, though it may take awhile depending on how much you changed.
Plus make sure that if there are any "Goto" commands, make sure you go back and edit them to fit the right offsets after you paste them, okay?
yeah thats a problem. #1, theres no copy and paste between 2 diff files. #2, there is SO MUCH that has been changed sense then. id rather just resize the inflated one. its really close kb wise to working
You're right, there is no copy/paste between two files. So you've got to open the old file and copy an action/subaction, then open the new one and paste it in. It's really tedious, but it beats entering everything again manually.
I hope I don't come off as snobbish...I'm actually really excited for this moveset, so I'm trying to help. >.>
