1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: The Waluigi PSA. Last ALT shown. on: September 03, 2014, 10:42:11 AM
So, I'd like to ask something in terms of design and playstyle.

As the creators of the PSA, what kind of playstyle do you think really works best with Waluigi, in both P:M and Brawl? I would imagine he's a lot about spacing since from what I can tell, a lot of his long reach moves have sweet and sourspots, but I'd like to know a bit more in this regard. Is his stuff laggy, fast, etc? Is he someone who relies on the punish game or is he someone who presses offense with his long range and can also go on the defensive? Just curious.

Wow, that release date goal sounds absolutely perfect! Would give me enough time to develop my own P:M Waluigi metagame and stuff. Also I'll likely be streaming Day 1 impressions of Waluigi when he comes out so that's a thing too.

I swear you keep upgrading this model to look better and it works every time. The pants now look even better, for instance! Can't wait for more progress, hoo~

Lol.
Seriously? You think annoying us with spam is going to make us want to add this Waluigi?

Good luck.
I....really don't think anybody in this thread would seriously do that, and I don't know how this kind of impression would be left Sad.  With how versatile this character mod is(BrawlEX, standard Pit replacement, etc.), I don't even think it's all that necessary. Being a part of the P:M clone engine would mean that he'd probably be included in official builds given that the clone engine is designed specifically around P:M, right?(If I may ask, anyways Tongue) BrawlEX has me too paranoid however, I don't wanna bring in any conflicts with the P:M Clone engine since they are two different things I'd imagine. I also hope "this Waluigi" isn't worded the way it is because you think it is not of good quality, although I doubt that's the case at all Tongue.

I know the limits of Waluigi's influence and I think the P:M team would find him too...controversial, if that's the word? I mean, he's got a dedicated cult following, it's semi-medium sized from my recollection, but at the same time he's already an AT and he's also got a bunch of people that could care less about him OR think his role as an AT is good enough.

Either way it's not bad that community members are rallying to support him getting in, I just can't really get behind it since I see the reasoning from the other side as well. Geez, this was a long post!

Also Project M has a Smashboards area for customized content for it in particular, so you could put the Project M version of Waluigi up there with some info and stuff, show off the hard work, and get feedback that will allow him to flourish in a more Melee oriented environment in case anything is off with the Project M version(I'm sure he'll be very good but it always helps to have other opinions).

I'll just restate that I'd love to test the Project M build over Pit, anyways.

So that screenshot of Waluigi and Pit together, is that implying that he can replace other characters, or that he has been "cloned" in? I'd advise for the sake of not messing with the clone engine(at least in Project M) that there will still be a version that just replaces Pit, to give people options and just in case they want to play it safe(like me)

I'd love to test but I'd likely also be good at any promotional work, although I have a small spectrum of friends, at least I'd get the word out. I'll throw myself out there for both vBrawl and Project M. I have a relative understanding of mid-level play in Project M and can hopefully contribute valuable feedback in terms of his power in there.

Will his Project M incarnation have slightly faster attacks with extra knockback compared to the Brawl version? I say this as the KB in Project M seems more intense than Brawl's on a relative scale with some attacks so you might need to make adjustments to keep his kill power up to snuff. Also when this is released, I'm going into the WAH lab on Week One.

Only thing I think isn't done is the effect on his Side-B but you can just rotate that about 90 degrees and make it look like it's a dark purple effect that comes from him flapping his arms for the first few frames. Beyond that, he looks about done to me sans Final Smash.

I'm not saying to set a low standard, but reasonability is also pretty darn important. Sorry if I wasn't as clear as I could've been.

Lemme just say a little thing here... people are perfectionists because they expect Project M to be the essence of perfection. That's not to say it won't be improved upon, given it's still in the demo stages... but you'd think it'd come out a little more polished since "perfection" is what supposedly drives the engine of the backroom.

Of course, "perfection" is in the eye of the beholder.
I think there's a limit you can expect, especially from a community based project. What I see right now looks very nice and I'm satisfied with it myself.

funny enough it did, if people did really take offence to that... just wow
Well you are in a very volatile community, unfortunately. I'm part of one too, and it's an open source engine that emulates 2D fighting games. Not a hard guess but it is extremely volatile.

Did this group of 5 people start after the rolling video lol, you did kinda play with fire(in the best way possible I might add.)

Darn right. As uh, nice I guess as Roy is, and as good as it is that they are refining him(he had so much potential) I feel like Waluigi would be such an out-of-nowhere update and a cool EXTRA add-on. Like, you know, optional and stuff. Plus Clone Engine(that's the real cool thing)
