46  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: WIP Workshop on: August 26, 2013, 11:41:32 PM
Took me a while to rig a model a while back now it takes me a few hours to a day or two depending how focused I am. Mario and Luigi are the easiest characters for me to rig, bowser and a few others are real pain due to the way Nintendo made their backs bend. Tongue also I never use the auto rig, I'm a perfectionist so it'll bug me when fingers or other parts aren't lined up to the bones and thus make the rig a little of, plus the auto rig usually destroys fingers in the animations because they're so close together. It works on things like legs and arms, but for better rigs, do the fingers and mouth yourself. You'll start getting familiar on how to rig them properly.Wink
I went back and did some modifications to the whole head/face and feet. Those were the only parts that did not get rigged correctly.

My model doesn't have a physical mouth, so I don't need to worry about that.
As for the hands, I used the exact same hands as the brawl luigi model, so those were rigged perfectly Wink

The only thing I need to do now is figure out how to get a hit face in. I can't seem to figure it out.
I got it to work, nevermind.

Ok guys, my very first full character hack is done! Propeller Luigi looks awesome. Just submitted it to the vault.

Thanks to all that helped me through my first hack. Everything should be way easier from now on.

Except for some obvious deformations in the head/propeller, it's basically done!

Thanks to agent-s for directing me to the perfect auto-rig guide. I din't know about it before and basically sped up the process from 2 weeks to 20 minutes.

Thanks guys. I'm glad to see that it'll get easier over time.

That being said, I won't have very much time to do this kind of stuff once school starts in a week. Sad

So far so...good? I guess?

I'm starting to dislike how long it takes to rig models. And how hard it is to get it just right. That's not going to stop me from doing it, however.

I've only done his waist and below so far. It has some deformations still.

Who's it going over?

Just export Brawl Luigi as a .dae from BrawlBox, import him into 3ds max. Delete all but his hands, then merge your model with the bones and hand model. BAM. Fingers are rigged perfectly AND you have perfectly modeled hands.

Kind of like this?

I extended his left arm to connect to his hand, but left his right arm untouched. Should I do the arm expansion? Or somehow move his hand to connect to his arm?

Also, how do I get the texture to work correctly?

On a different note, that Anubis looks freaking awesome.

u cant with that hand model since it dosent look like its made to do that. your going to have to find a hand that isnt in a fist

I tried replacing his hands with the ones from Luigi's original brawl model, but I couldn't get the body texture to look right on his new hands. His new hands got covered with green on some parts; when I tried editing the body texture, it made other parts of his body white.

I'm very new to actually making hacks, so sorry if I don't know very much at the moment.

Working on Propeller Luigi at the moment. Having trouble with hands, though.

I'm in the middle of trying to get his left hand to actually look like a hand...
Is there an easier way to turn his fist into a regular hand? I'm doing it by moving vertices at the moment.

Yeah, I managed to finish it and submit it a couple hours after I posted in this thread. I think it turned out pretty awesome, I would say.

Right now I'm working on replacing Kind Dedede's Waddle Doo with the Super Waddle Doo from Kirby's Return to Dreamland. I'm just putting some final touches on it at the moment.

I seem to be having trouble with Project M. I'm able to load the character, but it always just plays as mario. I've tried duplicating the slot for other characters also, and it still always makes you play mario. I've gotten this to work with basic brawl, so why is Project M giving me difficulties?

I foolishly endeavored to combine the expansion pack and cBliss today myself. I can tell you with confidence that as it stands it doesn't work and has terrible, terrible consequences.

I have Project M, Stage Expansion, and cBliss working flawlessly! If you're having issues with cBliss, use Mewtwo2000's cBliss program to put the code into your gct: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/i6jo89480via4/cBliss_Tool

All of the filler characters from the cBliss thread work, too.

EDIT: Export char_bust_tex-lz77 and MiscData[90] from sc_selcharacter in cBliss's menu2 folder, and MiscData[40] from sc_selmap in cBliss's menu2 folder. After that, replace them accordingly in your common5.pac for Project M.

This is really quite fantastic! I have a request, though: could you upload a version for Project: M 2.6 that has no stages included like your previous version?
59  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Programming / Re: Extra Character Slot on: July 21, 2013, 02:21:21 PM
Ok, so I downloaded the extra character slot kit and Thany's Roy. It all works fine in Gecko (except that the extra slot has a Marth icon, even though I changed it to Roy?)

When I try to use this with Riivolution, It just sits and hangs when I select a stage.
I'm using the stability codeset (no file patch code because Riivo) with the cBliss xml.

Can anyone help me fix this? I have a lot of extra sounds, so I would much prefer to use Riivo.

I am using the brawl- set for everything, but found that there are some cool movesets for specific characters I want to use (i.e. Skyward Sword link moveset).

Can I put the Skyward Sword Link moveset on just the default costume and have all of the other costumes the brawl- moveset?
