^lol well the hip bones doesnt(hasnt) mess(ed) up for me yet. But yeh i used to use x,y for rotation but i just use x for height and just forget about y. Its better to have one bone doing certain rotations instead of multiple bones doing the same rotation. - o yea i dont really use too many keyframes(or at all) to fix the hip bone cuz it usually never messed up unless i did something wrong.
sdoom - yeh it takss a few hours to make some animations. But i never thought about that. I dun wnna use 4.2 cuz i used it to make s4s but then i had to clean it up manually in 3.2...basically remaking each keyframe >.>. But ill try your idea, sounds good thnx.
@kit-...thats a bit general...but i guess your talking about the whole model soo i use the hip bone.
sdoom - i create the gifs using a exe that i dl off the internet and edited a tiny bit. It(now) takes all the images from a folder and converts them all into one gif.
the other program(also from internet and edited) takes a screenshot of a specific area that i want(like aim->take screenshot) so i can take multiple pics of the same spot and it autosaves with a generic filename(so its quicker).
for the first animation(s4s) i didnt have the exes so thats why its a bit shaky(i had to manually make the gif with gimp). The others ones are done with the dl-ed exes
Me, I want Visual Cues of where a hit box is going to affect my animation, like how brawlbox (modset4.0+) shows clickable bones. If I can see exactly how a Hit box looks, I'd be more inclinded in building a psa since I can tell how big the the hi box is, where it's at, when it goes away, and when it shows up. That's been my biggest complaint cause it's suchs a HUGE time waister with trial and error.
-hitboxes are spheres -it goes away/shows up as soon as you want.
^yep thats wut im doing now. Except i use gimp and make a spritesheet on paint with the 'keyframes' that i see. but sometimes, i have to change the animation a bit to make it smoother.
also i saw that animation, looked great... but it seemed a bit stiff to me. And the flip was too slow(but still nice and smooth).
edit:
for those who think i waste/take alot of time making the animation gifs, it takes me less than a few mins.. I dl 2 exes off the internet, edited em a bit so they work the way i need em to. So yeh its pretty simple for me to gif-ify them.
i think there should be something that would allow you to do certain coding quicker and easier...
ex. you wnna make every attack add a charge(+1) to a variable. So instead of going to every subaction and pasting the variable, you could just choose which subactions to put the variable, where to put it, and then done - it puts that code where its needed.
ex2. you wnna make a hitbox which grows(size increases). Instead of making every hitbox and changing the sizes, psa would have something where it would increase the sizes.
Well lets see...DO updated psa a bit, SD made a thread about why there arnt many psers(good thread btw)...so now theres this thread. What do you think should be updated or added to psa to make it easier, less time consuming, less tedious,etc...maybe"noob-ify" it.
So DISCUSS! What or how do you think PSA should be updated to make it easier and more convenient?
*Note some of your ideas might be taken into consideration...what i mean is that maybe black jax or some other programmer who understands the psa source code could add your ideas to it.
OP: (if you arnt doing this) if you wnna port the animations, then on the keyframes, just delete the translations on all the bones(just by using the paste without translation for the frame itself) and done, there wont be any stretching or problems with the way it looks.
tcll..- wuts up man, c you still working on the converter...neways... no offence tcll but I'm not looking forward to your ble just because I dunno wut you can offer(not trying 2 insult). Buuut I kno a bit of c# and would like to help out in a way to just improve psa to make tedious work easier and quicker.
there's no point in making a psa tut...actually no. There's no point in making a beginner tut., only an advanced tut. Showing how to do some tricks, ideas, and how to do some cool things. If you wnna learn psa, theb you have to try, it aint easy. Imo you have to test and mess with psa, if that doesn't work, then you search(kcmm) for the answer, still nothing?,then ask a question. That's how I learned psa-test,search,ask.
^did you try to make a chargeable attack...did you search the forums for the answer? No? Well I bet if you searched for how to make a chargeable attack, you wouldve known/figured out months ago. (ithink)there's a tut by hollow on how to make a chargeable attack...srry if I seemed to troll, only trying to help
psaing is tedious...when doing tedious coding...butwith simple coding, like hitboxes, it becomes redundant. Psa is something that seems hard and complicated at first, but no, it's just very simple(with practice, and getting used to it). It's coding and the 'solution' is commonly simple. When you code in psa or or any language(i do c#), your not going to know everything about it. And may never know everything about it, but it doesnt matter. You'll find a way to do what you want either though help or 'cheating'. It's not hard to start psa, it's hard to stick with it because, as I said, it becomes redundant sometimes.
Also, the lack of models to use is a 'small' problem, the big issue (2 me when I started psa) is realizing that psa isn't magic, it can't do everything you can imagine. What I mean is that I had some great ideas that died because I realized that psa is very limited.
uhh I said that from the top of my head sooo yeh... And for the poll, I like the 'past psaers set the bar too high' only because back then there were many great quality psas out there that (as far as I can remember) had great feedback that wasn't kiss up bs - real feed back...(ranting)i got tired of seeing bad or oped(not pointing out ne1) or just plain bad psas get good 'fake' feedback and hype. To me it showed how low the bar for quality psas had become and decreased my want to psa..
.i could keep going but I'm done ranting... So yeh psa is easy once you get used to it, the problem is sticking with it. We need 'real' feed back...blah blah rant..blah..
edit you need real feedback to achieve and become successful. You tell someone who is failing that they're doing a great and wonderful job, then they will never be great. You tell someone who is doing good the issues you see and what needs improvement, then they will become great. You don't create quality entertainment from being babied, you need to be told the truth to improve.
