1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / How do you feel about importing? on: May 03, 2012, 10:49:08 PM
I saw a lot of polls on other users' topics asking about importing, so I wanted to personally make a thread to directly ask everyone how they feel about it. Not every topic here has to be a "<insert username>'s importing universe!" topic, does it?

I personally think importing is the greatest thing that's happened to Brawl hacking since PSA's. I discovered Brawl hacking only a few months before the importing phenomenon, so I've been here long enough to know what it was like before importing. When I noticed the new import hacks, I thought this was a huge step forward. I look back at some of the vertex hacks that I had, and I'll think, "damn, I can't believe I actually downloaded this garbage", no offense to you vertexers; a lot of the vertex hacks are still really good. Despite that, I have almost no vertex hacks on my slots anymore, lol.

I'll probably admit that while importing takes effort, it doesn't require skill like animating and vertexing. There's no art or imagination involved in importing, but I'll take an import over a vertexed model any day. Vertexing is pretty much dead nowadays, because you just can't beat the professional model-creators that made the actual video games.

I'm a progressive type of guy, and I love imports. Here's to the future!  Grin
2  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Rise of the FallenKing: Dragonborn done! Progress will be very slow here on out. on: April 05, 2012, 01:35:52 AM
Hey everyone, I'm FallenKing, and I'm beginning my quest to become one of the top brawl hackers.  I hope to get better, and I want to eventually move on to PSA'ing. You can download all of my hacks on my vault.

3  Help & Tutorials / Help / FAT16 or FAT32? on: September 07, 2011, 04:52:00 PM
I'm not sure which one to use. I'm currently using Fat16 with GeckoOS and a 2 gig mini-SD card put into an SD card adapter. Which one is recommended, or does it not matter?

I have a LOT of hacks, and I notice that the game will just randomly freeze when I'm playing Brawl mode. I've taken out all the items that cause freezing, so I'm not sure what else would cause the game to freeze in the middle of the match. Would it help if I used an SD card with more memory, a normal-sized SD (because I'm using a mini-SD with an adapter), or FAT32?
4  Help & Tutorials / Help / Peach lost her voice. on: September 04, 2011, 09:47:28 AM
I'm a Gecko user, I have Brawl Minus, and I have a LOT of texture and PSA hacks on almost every character. I'm guessing somewhere along the way, one of the PSA's that required me to input a gct code had a side-effect of Peach losing her voice. Her Final Smash won't even play that tune anymore. I dunno, it might be something else; I'm using the expansion stages (36 of them), I have a lot of stage hacks over the original stages, and I have a couple of item hacks as well.

As of now, I'm using the top-downloaded "Rosaline HD" PSA. Even if I take off that hack and replace it with Peach's original Brawl Minus files, her voice is still gone. Peach not having her voice is annoying (I loved having her say "Hi" and "this is fun" when throwing), but I don't want to lose any of my PSA's for her voice. Is there some gct code I can put in to give Peach her voice back, or at least give her another female character's voice?
5  Help & Tutorials / Help / Downloaded "Classic Expansion Pack 4.0 Gecko+Brawl". Music leaks to other stages on: August 28, 2011, 12:04:41 AM
80/80 topic title.

Anyway, I downloaded that new Expansion pack that recently came out, and I'm really enjoying it so far. There aren't any real problems, but I really don't like how the music from the expansion stages leak onto my original stages. I put quite some time into gathering all those brstm files for all my custom and non-custom stages, and I really hate how I won't be able to hear those custom songs half the time because some other song finds it's way onto the stage.

I'm considering removing the music modifier(s) on my gct file so that the stages only play Battlefield's music; that is, if this makes it so that the music won't leak onto my original stages. Going to the Music Settings on the Options menu doesn't help either. For example, I only have 2 songs set for FD, yet other music finds it's way onto FD like half the time.

P.S: Can someone teach me how to edit gct files? I can add codes via GCTedit, but I can't remove any. Also, is there a way to add those really long gct codes without taking like 10 minutes removing asterisks and spaces?
