I got the instructions and I wasn't even online at the time. Annoying. If I come across it naturally then the cookie will be mine, but this doesn't sway me at all.
To be awarded shouldn't become a goal. That simply equates to internet points, which truly don't matter. Proof: I was gone for 5 days for EVO 2014 and came home to find "King for a Day" added to my award list. An award I didn't really earn for a hack I simply added a single sound to and packed together to be more easily usable by others months ago, all because of a SSB4 character reveal. It means absolutely nothing to me, merely another colorful thingy underneath my avatar that few will pay any attention to.
I agree that the way the P:M codes were revealed wasn't the right way. I'm still glad to have them out in the open, though. It gives me the chance to take some of the codes and use them in Brawl+.
I guess I'll post my module editor today. And we will see what people do with it. My guess is that nothing will be done, even though my module editor supports features that PW lacks. In fact, I don't see anyone doing much module editing (Outside of PW+PMBR).
To do so would be incredibly difficult Keep in mind that the difference between C18 and CMPR is a more than 100% file size; CMPR at around 10 KB and C18 at around 21 KB, which means you'd be doubling the file size of char_bust_tex_lz77.pac.
The best way to see if it's even possible is to extract sc_selcharacter_en.pac from common5.pac so you can directly see it's file size. It's maximum size limit is 3.79 MB.
Your first step should be to look over every MiscData# in char_bust_tex_lz77.pac (A.K.A. the sets the CSPs) and change their compression from LZ77 to ExtendedLZ77. This'll help your file size by a decent amount, but every little bit helps at this point. (NEVER CHANGE A "NONE" COMPRESSION TO A LZ77 OR EXTENDEDLZ77 COMPRESSION! WILL FREEZE WII!!!)
Your second step should be to obtain a 4x4 image of black (you can find one in the Stock Icons for P:M's SSS), then look over the other textures in the other MiscData#s of sc_selcharacter and blank out any unnecessary and unwanted textures with it. A good example to remove might be the franchise icons or character name in MiscData[30]. Each individual icon or name is around 2 KB so that's over 100 KB (or 0.10 MB) right there. Again, every little bit helps at this point.
Beyond that it's up to what the numbers come down to and what textures you decide to live without. You might even have to make sacrifices of your own; make some of your CSPs C18 and leave others CMPR.
Are we getting some kind of post or PM to know the results?
Those that are chosen will be PM'ed when we have actually chosen. This will likely happen on the 2nd or 3rd- after we close this thread tomorrow (the 1st). Until then we are merely collecting and lightly deliberating on those we already have.
Allow me to reiterate the important stuff applicants need to know:
1. Applications are STILL being accepted, and will remain as such until Oizen says otherwise and locks this thread. 2. Order of application doesn't matter, all are being examined and considered equally by Curators and other Staff. 3. We haven't determined exactly how many Curators we're adding, so don't let the number of applicants discourage you from applying as well 4. There are 8 questions on the first post of this thread. New applicants need to include them in their application, whether posted here or PM'ed to Albafika or Oizen. 5. If you PM your application and/or questions you may not receive a reply, but rest assured that it WAS received. Albafika and Oizen just don't have the time to reply to every one. They spend too much time already ruling the world.
I will apply for a staff position. As one of my life responsibilities just got dropped I would like take my newfound time to give more to the community and the Vault. I already provide fixes to broken hacks from time to time, the power to fix them myself would make things easier. It would also give me an excuse to upgrade from 'Ninja Lurker' to 'Actual Forum Member.'
I just wanna say that this is amazing! The clone engine works perfectly, Sammi's tutorials made it beyond easy! Even got their own portraits and icons working! Once individual sound/graphic effects and announcer calls have been mastered this will be perfect! Even without them I'm having a great time with these clones!
I'm... not sure why Albafika didn't mention that before; must've searched for it in the Vault to fix it last time. Proof I shouldn't post after midnight.
Last month my Dropbox was taken down. Yeah, that happened... And I just realized all the DL links I'd fixed were down too! So here they all are, AGAIN!
I spend far more time lurking around the vault (nearly daily) for awesome hacks and repairing broken ones then actually posting, so I volunteer my hands to the cause. Treat them well.
Regarding more than 10 costumes, I'm leaning towards not doing them. Because to properly do them without overlapping cosmetics I would need to relocate half the roster's cosmetics. That means I have to re-do ALL of that half a roster's cosmetics in the WHOLE game. Not to mention although doable the filesize of those extra ~240 CSPs might be too much, and I want to leave room for potential extra slots.
Yeah, that's a hell of a lot of work, and I don't know how much work you put into what you've already given us. I guess you could put it on the back burner and possibly touch on it here and there when you find yourself with nothing to do. Thanks again for cBliss, you are amazing!
ok so im just stupid. i have those, and i've been doing texture and stage hacks, but i'm not understanding these directions. where do the 3 files go? i download the group so it contains a .raw, .wad, and .elf.
This technically isn't the place for this question. I'm assuming the pack you're talking about is the cBliss + Melee/64 Expansion Pack. The download info says to ask the uploader for help if you need it. Would be a good idea to ask what exactly the WAD and RAW overwrite so you know what to backup before using it. And don't ask me for help either, I didn't use it.
