Sorry if this has been previously mentioned but the newest update doesn't allow me to copy a pose over frame 0/T-pose (I mainly do this so I can create renders haha by exporting the posed model) great work by the way!
I would separate it into secions of the body... example:
-Limbs -Hands -Body/Hips/Torso -Single-Binded stuff (Armor, hair, etc) -Belts (So you can skin-wrap to the body) -Cape for sure
Sorry! Just woke up to see this, also thanks! That's given me a much better view on how to work on him! I'm planning to do those + Front of the cape, though I'm also debating on how to deal with:
I imagine it would be easier to separate the two parts because of the overlapping? Makes rigging much easier from what I can tell, not 100% sure as I'm new to this kind of overlapping problem when it comes to modeling.
Be very careful. Before you start rigging, you might want to do a test import and check out the materials. Some characters may have one object mapped to like 3 different textures. For example, Link comes out as one object excluding his head, hair, weapons, and eyes. Or check her textures first to see which ones shpuld be separated, but yes, separate her cape. It would be MUCH easier. Plus, I'm sure that also has it's own texure.
Okie dokies! I'll make note of this as I go through the materials and textures, luckily the costume itself is of 4 objects but I imagine it's more complicated as I dwell into it, thanks for the fast reply!
Work in progress, my first proper attempt at making a costume (If you don't count Skyward Sheik, which I'm also doing a full update on because she has a lot of issues I need to fix), using Smash4 Lucina's Awakening costume and mixing it with Marth, because I love Awakening Marth's costume.
Still got some ways to go, Kept the Hands and using an updated Smash 3 head & sword for this to give it a new vibe, I also re-worked the area around the neck as Marth has a wider neck than Lucina, I'm also planning to re-work and make textures to match up with Brawl's artstyle. I'm also going in the middle of optimizing the costume bit by bit as I go along and now currently working on the rigging.
I got a question for anyone who can answer, would it be a better idea to split the costume apart in areas (Like as separate the cape etc) as I feel that might make rigging easier? Any advice will be great thanks!
I mainly use Smashboards because it's easier to look at, that and I know quite a lot of modders over there, I mainly lurk on here which is why I don't comment much.
To address some of things people have said, I try to help as much as possible to a lot of people who message me on the SB thread, not only that I'm learning and practicing everyday on modding, being taught by some amazing people who's willing to take time to help me (Taiko for example) as well as getting feedback in so many area's whilst at the same time being inspired by the level of detail from others (IWG and Nano are perfect examples of a goal I want to reach in terms of modding in the future, they don't rush and take their time making sure it's all in check before release) If it helps I can post more often though.
To me personally, it's the site design that puts me off, I don't want to come off as rude or whatnot, this is more of a standpoint of someone who works in web development and programming everyday as a full time job, is that this is site is very dated, it's using an old themed generated website (The theme is from here: http://www.fussilet.com/) , the vault goes down, a lot and can be very slow at times. It's hard to look at and not only that the site is very off-putting to anyone who joins, I remember that I ended up using the custom content thread on SB when I first started out because I thought that was more lively haha. I do apologize if that came off really negative but that's those are reasons I keep hearing from people and not only myself.
In regards to who is rude and who isn't, I don't really see that (at least, not as much as I imagined) everyone here can be nice and we all get along in my opinion, hell, if I'm honest I never really had any issues on either side in regards of anyone being rude, everyone here and there is nice basically, doing their own thing.
In terms of if the community is dying or not, I feel it's more on question on why the site is dying, the SB forums are more than lively from what I noticed so I don't think the community is dying, that's just my two cents on it though.
I also must apologies DSX8, I completely misunderstood and threw a fit like an angry teenager, that was wrong of me for taking it out of context there and hope you can forgive my rudeness.
I apologize for the rig, but I don't have time to improve it and will do so at a later date (probably within two weeks). I didn't want to wait any longer, especially considering how long we've all waited for.
Hope you all enjoy! Post Merge: December 04, 2014, 09:20:31 AMEven though Chrom's been released there's been a handful of problems:
-Metal crashes the game -No transparency for the hair (whenever I try to add it, it crashes) -Only his blink face shows up (visibility bones weren't set up correctly, I've set them up correctly now, but his other face's don't show up properly)
Oh wow thanks for the release! Really like what you did with Chrom! Hopefully the problems are easy to fix and hope for the best! No rush though!
I ended up making a render and BP/CSP for him if anyone wants em:
For the team I'm on, yes, and I will continue Lucina with Vert unless he's decided to quit. Other than that, I have no plans to continue, except for maybe personal things.
Also, on that note, I think I'm going to limit Lucina's weapons to be Falchion and then an optional Shield of Seals, who knows if my motivation will hold with all those weapons PLUS her mask versions, haha.
And it's going to be glorious~ I know that much for certain!
