My bad. I'm afraid I can't help you, then. I use Maya. Unless I might interest you in an fbx?

Vaanrose, you are awesome! Really. There are not many good Olimar hacks, the poor guy always gets ported over. I like his flat actual appearance, but I am also curious as to what you can achieve. Keep it up. And also, what did you end up doing with the ducks head? is it rigged or not?

I'm planning on doing two versions of the texture, just like Snorlax. A kinda furry look (and feathery for the ducks) and a flatter (though still shaded) look. And the ducks heads are rigged to the Pikmin's antenna joint. It results in them kinda holding their bill up most of the time, but I like it. Makes them look smug. I also rigged their wings, so they flap around a bit, too.

can someone send me olimar and the pikmin's boneset?
the bone resource thread is dead and I dont want to be warned for necroposting

I spent the better part of six hours painting the weights on his knees before I opened up Olimar and took a look at his animations only to find... his legs were doing the exact same thing I've been fighting with the dog's legs to NOT do. So, yeah, with that in mind, I'm pretty okay with how the rig turned out.

The texture you see here is literally just a flat placeholder I stuck on to help out with rigging. The final ducks will all be different colored just like the pikmin are. And he's not actually blinking, I just forgot to parent the hurt eyes (which aren't textured yet) to the visibility bone.

And something I just noticed. The duck texture is really blocky and pixelated. I don't know why, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the way the pikmin work?

Replacing the shadows... that didn't even occur to me. I took a look at the shadow model, but I have no idea how the rig works. Is there a tutorial on replacing the shadow models, by chance? I tried doing a search, but all I got was that damned hedgehog...

Oh, I've looked at Olimar's weights. I've mostly decided the issue is my dog is one solid piece, while Olimar has a multiple mesh space suit. You can cheat more with built-in seams. I had the same issue with Snorlax over Dedede. Dedede rotates his wrist like 250 degrees at one point, and it looks fine because his sleeve stays put and only his mitten moves. On Snorlax his wrist just implodes.

I know the dog will never be perfect, but I want the run animation, one of the more commonly seen animations, to actually look good. If a few attacks look a little off, at least they're not used as much.

I specifically chose one of the better poses. His knees are frustrating enough, but when Olimar runs he rotates his spine way further than I anticipated. It's taking a while to get working. Once I get one animation looking good, it messes up anther one.  Im srs here

It's the distance between the eyes. They need to be set further apart. Rule of thumb is basically give a character about the width of an eye between the eyes. And a very subtle down twist on the corners helps, too.

I think... hes done. Gimme feedback please.

He looks great. I'm not much of a Shadow fan, but I'd get this one.

So I'm sure this is old news for all you, but damn do Brawl animations twist their joints to absurd degrees...

Yep, no problem. Happy hacking.

Do me a favor. Try using this common5: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24566

That one's pre-shrunk, so there's no chance the images you add will push it over the file size. Brawl is really finicky with file sizes, so if it still crashes with that one, then we can definitely conclude it's not the file size that's causing the problem.

Also, is your file named common5.pac or common5_en.pac? The first is for Gecko, the second is for riivo.

What's the file size on your common5? If it gets too large, the wii won't be able to load it and it will crash, and you'll get the beep of death. I think the default size is 11.6mb, and you don't want to go over that. Make sure the images you're replacing have indexed colors with the same value as the image your replacing. I just make sure all my icons are 115 colors, that way they're safe no matter what.

You don't need an xml. Replace the CSPs in your Common5.pac in Brawlbox, like you said you're doing, and put that file into the system folder on your SD card.

It goes: Root->private->wii->app->rsbe->pf->system->common5.pac

To replace the in-game battle portraits you'll need to edit the character's InfFaceXXX.brres files, which go in folder ....->pf->info->portrite

And to replace the victory screen icons you'll need to edit the character's MenSelchrFaceBXXX.brres, which go in folder ....->pf->menu->common->char_bust_tex

The selcharacter file is actually part of the common5. You don't need them both. If you're editing the common5 directly, you won't have anything in the menu2 folder.
134  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Problems, Updates, and Suggestions on: March 25, 2013, 05:23:18 PM
Same thing happens to me, actually.

A better description of what happens, at least for me: Say I'm browsing through DK's hacks. I'll click on page 2, and it'll take me to page 2. You can kinda start scrolling before the page is fully loaded, and then when it's "loaded", suddenly the vault goes away and is replaced by a line of text saying "nothing to display." Usually a page reload fixes it.

And I have safe search off and facebook on, too.

I said that because of his mouth, but now that I look at his proportions he's definitely suited to Olimar, heh. Looking forward to both versions.

I didn't even think of Wario until you mentioned him. I decided to do this dog because I was looking for someone to put over Olimar. But now I can't get the image of him doing Wario's laughing animation out of my head, so he'll be going on both. And the proportions of the model are easily adapted.
