121  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: [Official] Project M discussion: 3.02 patch on: July 12, 2014, 12:25:45 PM
Interesting indeed, but I honestly don't see what most of these videos have to do with P:M. Balancing for Skill does seem pretty relevant since I don't think that much effort is put into the balancing of characters to favor non-competitive skills. But for the others, I think we'd need a bit of an explanation as to why they would be pertinent to this specific project.

As a side-note, it got drowned out by large walls of texts but I'm still waiting for an answer as to my suggestion of switching to BrawlEx on the long-term.
Does that long silence mean consent, or is it taking you guys that long to find some popcorn?

If they make a better BrawlEx, then for us it would be the same as the Project M clone engine. The PM clone engine is perfect for what PM wants and needs.

Why waste their time working on something that they already have?
Because after some tweaking, it would end up faster (to set up), safer (for the project) and better (being more tightly programmed, so more stable). And in the long run, that could be profitable?

I don't think we're communicating properly right now. I'm not saying BrawlEx is better today. Right now, both system have their flaws and advantages.
But to me, it seems the flaws of BrawlEx are easier to fix than the CE ones.

Didn't you just say that you can't release the CE because it super-complicated and long to set up? .-.
If what is taking time is actually animating and balancing, then I don't see what the big deal is. Anyone can do that without needing to tune everything to PGM Melee standards.

Our team focuses on Project M, and Project M only. [...]
I had gathered as much, but that does not adress what I was talking about. At all.

All I'm asking is whether an investment on perfecting BrawlEx on the long-term wouldn't end up faster, better, AND safer, for the reasons explained further above.

What I wonder is, if only two people in the world can customize that system, is it really that worthwhile to stick with it? You talk about more flexibility with other codes, but from the sounds of how complicated that Engine is to set up, it sounds more like an eldritch horror as far as programming goes.

Wouldn't researching ways to go with BrawlEx and improve from there make for a much safer route? I mean, I'm not saying "drop everything, fix BrawlEx, and have it in the next version of P:M." I'm talking about a longer term goal there.

Right now you have two people to work on it. Not only would the really slow process probably be faster if more people could work on it, but what if one or both leave the team for a variety of reasons? What if they happen to be huge jerks and you really need to kick them out of the team?

why is your clone engine better than brawlEx?
and if it's not, why not use BrawlEx, which is a lot more customizable, and has plenty of slots...
Yeah, that'd save me some trouble when the Engine gets leaked out every other month.

Oh my. Seeing some Jugdral love was becoming more and rare, even coming from IntSys's side.

Kinda disappointed the Falchion is untouched, though. Would have been sweet to see the artist's (Pik's?) take on the Tyrfing's minute differences with the Falchion.

Took me a little while to award it, but here ya go. br3 also found it a couple of days ago. Smiley

Obviously it means Project M is a malicious resource. You should report them to the cyber-police.

The ability to merge topics is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Yep! That's the one. Congratulations. Smiley

From what I've read, a more accurate description would be:

"Adobe is effectively distributing their software for free, but don't want you to take it for free."

Man, it'd be real nice if people would not play mini-mods.

All there is to say on the matter is that hackers should take the time to mark wifi unsafe mods, out of politeness for people who do need to play online or practice competitively.

And for these users, I'm afraid it's not up to you to tell modders to do specific kinds of hacks. You can ask wifi safe versions when they release them, and you are perfectly entitled to enjoy nice skins. But don't get your hopes up and keep in mind this community has never cared much about the competitive aspect of Brawl. We just kinda [censored] around with stuff, see what happens.

Now back on topic, por favor.

Every time someone asks that question. And every time someone completely misses the point.

This isn't about e-mails, it's about the "Show new replies to your posts", which has all the threads you've posted in, regardless of subscriptions or notifications.

No, there's no way to unsubsribe other than deleting your posts in them.

No, we can't do anything about it. SMF doesn't have that function and there are no mods for it.

Probably because the forum kinda expects you to use notifications to follow threads you care about, and not that link which lists everything.

All right. I'll look into it.

Not sure what you mean by "move", considering I've already established it can be found in all sorts of places.

If by "does it move?" you mean "Will finding the cookie in one place mean I won't be able to find it where it was before?" then no, that's not the case.

If you find the Cookie somewhere, then it may be anywhere else at the same time. It can always reappear where you found it too. Because a cookie always returns to the scene of the crime.

Oh my goodness. Now Vish and Asuka found the Cookie too.
