31  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Programming / Re: Final: File Patch Code V 3.5.3(NTSC-U)-Custom CSS 50 slots on: May 11, 2013, 01:13:22 PM
Alright, what about this hypothetical?

Mewtwo over Rob vs Lucario (Already Lucario) would work, if I read the comments right, but in the same setup, would having Mewtwo over Rob versus Rob have any issues?  I would assume so, because Mewtwo had taken over one folder of Rob, while there is still another.  Both folders would likely fight over the graphics and effects, right?  Or at least the first selected folder would dominate in that struggle...
32  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Problems, Updates, and Suggestions on: May 10, 2013, 10:05:22 AM
hey im experiencing one bug with the page, when you want to go to a second or third page of anything like, characters, stage, misc and any others, when you select a diferent page automatically returns you to the first one.

and i turned off the safe search and the Facebook and the bug still happening.

If you meant that you turned Safe Search off and Facebook on, then you must be trying to navigate the Vault incorrectly, either that, or you don't wait for the Vault to load up the page you had intended to navigate to.

I've seen that little quirk whenever I go to the next page in a category like, say, the character Link category, and there have been times when for some odd reason, clicking to go the the next page shows no results.  After that happens, I usually click refresh, then wait for the first page of the category to load, then to the page I was trying to access before clicking refresh.  The waiting process is kinda long, even for my beast of a computer, so I don't think it's completely your fault.

I have been able to use the Vault with both Safe Search and Facebook off, however, since Facebook really only adds to the already long loading process and isn't completely necessary, unless you prefer to keep an eye on the feeds on the Brawl Vault main page.
33  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Mewtwo2000's Stage Thread [No news yet... (07/05/2013)] on: May 08, 2013, 02:10:28 PM
I suppose it's because I like things the way they looked, so I feel I'm playing the original games in some way. Maybe they would look better with a new look, but they would be harder to make, would take even longer, and wouldn't feel the same for me. I do my stages for me, and I share them when they're done. And because of that, I make them the way I prefer them, and that's with their old look.

I feel as if though I offended you somehow.  It wasn't my intention to nag you about not making high resolution textures with high poly models, but observing that one of the more well-known stage hackers creates stages in the look they had from the original game they came from.

I do see it the way you do, in many cases.  Especially OoT... Every time I think about a cutscene from the game, it's harder to imagine it with the more recent 3DS graphics than it is to remember its N64 look.  I've said this before somewhere, but the quality of the hacks isn't necessarily dependent on the graphics, but on the functionality and creative elements thrown in.  I believe that's why your name carries a lot of weight on in the Brawl hacking community.

EDIT: As for making the hacks for yourself, well... I figure that everyone would make hacks for themselves as well, whether it is for the enjoyment of making content, or sharing with others, or just because you want to use whatever hacks you make the way you like it.

Sharing it is just so everyone else can enjoy it with you.  I get all that.  And I have always been one to appreciate such gestures of kindness.  This Vault wouldn't exist (or much of the internet, for that matter) if people refused to share their work.

More curious than anything, as I'd use your stages wherever I can, but, Mewtwo2000, why is it that you like to keep the retro look of all those N64 stages and place them in a game where character models tend to be more detailed than they would have been on SSB64 or TLOZ: OoT (64)?

Yes to that Ocarina Ganon.  Can't go wrong there. Smiley
36  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Problems, Updates, and Suggestions on: May 06, 2013, 09:52:03 PM
Lemme get this straight.
Mewtwo uploads Peach's Castle N64 using the original textures. The next guy uses the HD ones. Then THIS guy uses the original textures HE ripped. It's a never-ending circle.

Doesn't really look like the same textures between Mewtwo's and this guy's...

I don't know what this report is hinting at, but if it's accusing the uploader of stealing work, Mewtwo2000 was credited, AND the textures are not the same... so, I don't see what the problem is...

38  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: New: Classic Exp. Pack 5.3 (Brawl) - with a non-crashing common5! on: May 06, 2013, 09:12:22 PM
Nope, I don't really understand Riivo so I use riivolution for Gecko users. Which is basically the same thing as it sounds like. Works with Sfx and all that goodness too.

Actually, it's as simple as editing the source path, and the path to the file on the Brawl disc.  It is pretty time-consuming, but not hard to figure out what to do once you get a grasp of the keywords in the XML.

I'm actually working on making the CEP 5.3 files work with Brawl Minus using P:M's XML.  You know, the one that allows more than one Brawl build to exist on the same SD card?

Gonna test it tonight, and I'll post it when I'm sure there's nothing missing.

Thanks for the help. Any little bit helps, I hope others help as well.

No probalo.

I had thought I had a few of your other hacks, but I must've deleted them at one time or another... it's a shame... I really liked those CD textures.

One more thing I should mention... The only things I changed from specific downloads was:

1) Created PACs/PCSs for costumes that lacked either one.
2) Zipped up now paired PACs and PCSs for costumes.
3) I might have changed the file names of some of them for easier identification for later browsing.

I'd prefer you at least keep the costume files paired up (I tend to create PACs and PCSs for any and all costumes, regardless of whether I use them in single player if they aren't transforming characters. Either I or someone else will use a single player costume eventually.), but I'm not so worried about re-renaming the files to what you would like them to be.

@ nanobuds
Porting in project m is pretty screwed up. I myself didn't succeed in porting Lucario and jiggs. It's something to do with coding or how the rels work apperently.

You neglected to mention that this info was more of an educated guess.  We aren't really sure of what the cause is, but those two instances, though loosely related, are the most apparent causes.  There could be something that's hiding beneath all that junk to screw with users.

^This.  It's an awesome PSA too.

Next stop, Fighter Kirby PSA.  I hate when something screws something else up, so this will be helpful.

Thanks for the info on this.

Thanks a ton, PhantomWings and Linkxp500.  And as for the whole virtual OS and Wine thing- the first one I actually tried once and failed miserably at, so I'm not inclined to try it again. I guess Wine might be worth a try, though every Wine port made by someone else I've used has had big problems- freezing, randomly closing.

Eh, no reason to thank me, I was pretty much prolonging your problem more than fixing it.

Oh, and by custom build, I believe Bakuz means he customized his own build of P:M.  This means he can't really use it on Wifi with default P:M users.  All you'd really need to do is well... have a lot of time and make sure your game works the way you want it.  Also, there could be changes to specific characters in P:M that require Gecko codes to implement, which may also affect how ported characters function.

I think SonicBrawler was working on a complete package of Plug&Play modules with the proper adjusted values, but I guess he's not done yet.

For now, here's the two modules you requested.

download

Such a nice guy... Makes me feel like a [censored] for trying to help them help themselves. Im srs here

Well, whatever.  Your help was more effective, so I've got no reason to complain.

It probably is a Mac problem then. I suppose I could try Wine for this, but it just seems like a stupid waste of time when all I need it for anyway is just two .rels.

This is where you are wrong.  There are so many applications that don't offer Mac support that I would recommend getting Wine if you happen to run into another similar issue.

Like say, PC games like Skyrim... Normally, they only work on Windows PCs, as does a lot of different hardwares that you would prefer over Mac's alternatives.  Although, I'm not sure how hardware could be affected by Wine, but maybe you could research about Wine and Virtual OSes about their pros and cons.  I'm sure a Virtual OS acts like a real OS, so maybe that could get all kinds of hardware to think you are running some version of Windows.
