76  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Stage Workshop on: December 19, 2014, 06:00:17 PM
This is the color's version.
Peardian ripped it, Im gonna import it.
The game uses .brres, so you might have better luck porting it from there than using the OBJs I exported.

Oh, so you're the one who made this stage! It's beautiful, and a wonderfully pleasant surprise tribute to Super Mario 64 as well. Great job! Cheesy

Neat Marx! Aren't his shoes supposed to be brown, though?

I made some models in the style of modern Mario games:

I'm glad that everyone likes the carrot. It seems to be one of my most popular creations for some reason.

Anyway, now that the board is back to being stable, I can show the new model(s) I just finished!

All of the blocks from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga! Like the carrot, this was a friend's suggestion, and is also rather high-poly.

I made a carrot!

Specifically, the carrot from Super Mario Land 2. It's rather high-poly, though. Unless someone wants to make a stage out of it, I don't think you'll get much use out of it beyond a trophy.
81  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: Giry's models ~ New WIP: Pencilvania (Balloon Kid) on: September 29, 2014, 04:23:06 PM
What a neat stage! I like all the detail in the background.

I'm worried that it might be too hard to differentiate the foreground and background, though, considering parts of the background use the same textures as the main platform. I suggest adding some fog that is the same color as the lightest part of the sky. It doesn't have to be a dense fog or anything, just enough so that players can quickly tell what is in the foreground and what is not.

I hate to partake in a conversation like this but...
I'm sorry, what? What is so criminal about the possibility of a fan model being better than the official? It can be done with enough work put it into it. For example: Project M's Ocarina of Time Link, that is the best model of OoT Link I've ever seen, even better than the 3ds and Melee models. Are they "Mole Convention 2014" for accomplishing such a task? Are you that [censored]ing dense?
There's nothing wrong with a fan-made model being of higher quality than those used in a video game, especially if the game is on system that uses relatively low amounts of polygons. The Link example you give is true, because the original models are on the Nintendo 64 and GameCube, and the model in Ocarina of Time 3D is somewhere in between those in terms of quality.

It's also conceivable that a fan-made model could be more accurate to a video game's official artwork than a game model, especially if the game uses stylized character models or, again, low amounts of polygons. The overworld character models in X/Y have rather large heads compared to the official artwork. However, the official Yveltal model has none of these attributes. The model has more polygons than in any other previous Pokemon game, and was made by professional 3D modelers based on drawings by the official Pokemon designers themselves.

The main problem here is that the model is not more accurate than the official model. (No offense to the modeler, of course.) I pay attention to small details on things, and there are a number of points where the fan-made model deviate from the official design. To name a few: the legs bend the wrong way, the pointed marks at the base of each finger are missing, the nose is not pointed enough, and the hair is very wavy whereas the artwork has little waviness to it. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Besides the design inaccuracies, the texture is noticeably lower in resolution than the official model.

Is the fanmade model better in quality? Just on a technical level, no it is not. Is the model more accurate? No, it is not. Is the model bad? No, it's still decent and is possibly one of the best fan-made Yveltal models out there. Is it bad that someone likes the model better than the official model? No, it's just their opinion. Is it bad that someone thinks that the design is more accurate than the official model? Not really, though anyone who does might need to pay closer attention to details.

The other part of the problem is that a number of people here seem to lack manners when it comes to addressing others, but that is beside the point.

Woo! Where are you getting all these models? Are you making them yourself?

Also, I made an attempt at Oktavia's concert hall barrier in case you're interested. (You can find it in my model thread.)
84  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: [General] Custom made models on: September 27, 2014, 01:01:24 PM

I made not one, but three models for the SMRPG enemy Orb User! The leftmost design is based on the style of Super Mario Galaxy, and the rightmost design is based on the enemies in Subspace Emissary.
85  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Orb User on: September 27, 2014, 12:51:44 PM
Surprise! It's a new SMRPG model!

It's the Orb User family! What you see here is actually three different versions of the design: Classic, Modern, and Subspace. All three designs come in all three colors. I didn't put any thought into how these guys could be used in a hack, so you'll have to get creative if you want to use them.

Ooh, neat! Even though it would kinda ruin the overhead view, I think you should consider making the NPCs stand up instead of being flat on the ground.
87  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Butter Building DX on: September 07, 2014, 06:29:28 PM
You know, that's something I didn't actually look into. When the camera moves, it shows the tower  is definitely round to some amount. I have a feeling you might need to squish it by about half and tightly manage the camera (a la Flat Zone) in order to help maintain the illusion of depth. The camera's viewing angle will be important. My suggestion would be to try and match the game's camera view as close as possible.

Glad you guys like it! It was fun to make.

I think I may give a shot at turning this into a stage.

That would be neat, though masamune has also expressed interest in importing it. You should probably contact him if you decide you really want to try importing it, too.
89  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Stages / Re: Stage Workshop on: September 06, 2014, 03:33:06 PM
I guess this belongs here...

I recreated Butter Building from Kirby Fighters Deluxe! It would be nice to see it made into a working Brawl stage, but the people I asked either said no or didn't answer. Still, the model is complete at least.
90  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Butter Building DX on: September 06, 2014, 03:27:28 PM
So, Kirby Fighters Deluxe came out, and I couldn't resist trying to recreate one of its new stages:

This is not one of my usual creations, nor was it even really planned. Because this is mainly a recreation, it is not specifically designed for use in Brawl, so it may require adjustments. I'm posting it here anyway since I figure someone here will want it.

The model is up on The Models Resource already.
