yes
Alright. So doing this should:
a) stop the freezing permanently (unless it's a hack that I have that's freezing the game)?
b) allow the CSP's to actually show up?

no,  format CMPR is the like CL btw, CMPR is SMALLER than CL8by 80%ish

compress, your PNG file can be up to 80% smaller

the following belie is what i mean (ONE ONE OR THE OTHER ONLY)

OR, NOT AND

(smaller = BETTER) notice how the CL8 is 21 KB, but the CMPR one is only 10 KB?

Oh! Ok! I think I get it now. So correct me if I'm wrong: I can either put the CSP in Photoshop and set it to Index Color Mode or when putting it into the common5.pac file, I set the format to CMPR? Is that right?

you are failing to compress your texture import at import and you flood the wii's RAM and thats when it freezes, with CSPs, you have like around just under 2MB to be safe withand by failing to index them first and lazily plop stuff in, your one import floods over 2MB and makes the game use more RAM than the wii has, this is when it freezes

Answer: please save your images as indexed color PNG or use CMPR format (this is that RGB dropdown in brawlbox when you click replace, then open a file)
when you say "index" do you mean the format? As in c18 or rgb5a3 or i8? I always save them in c18 format since that's what the original was formatted to. Is that ok? And how would I compress the file? Do you mean the common5.pac file? If so, it says that brawlbox auto compresses it every time I save.

@Jade_Rock
Could you send me a link to the forum you're talking about? I looked and found a lot of them, so I don't know which one to choose.

I think so,I haven't messed with csp's really though.

You should to the BrawlEx thread in programming. There's some videos for help in there.
Thanks. I'll check it out. And fyi, axnextframe didn't work.

The CSP's aren't the only things not working though. Most stages and a lot of the characters will make my Wii freeze (Strap Loaders and BRSTM's work just fine, though...). I only get characters that have little to no freeze reports so I don't know what it could be. I thought maybe it could be that I'm using v4.3, but this forum said that that would only effect other Homebrew Applications. ... Does that mean that it would effect Gecko OS and Riivolution? Should I downgrade?

BrawlEx doesn'twork on rivo.
Oh whoops. I missed that part. If I'm using normal Brawl, but I'm having the same problem with the CSPs, do I still change the hook type to axnextframe?

Change the hooktype in gecko config to axnextframe
Is it the same for Riivolution?

I don't know if someone already posted something about this, but for the vault search, if say I search for a character psa hack, then go back to the search, it will only say that it's searching for a character hack (it doesn't list the subtypes), and the only way to get it back is to:

a) refresh the page

or

b) click on the "type of hack", change it to a different type of hack, and then switch it back to whatever type I want to search for.

I know that this is a minor issue, but it gets really annoying if I'm searching for just character hacks of different subtypes and just want to go back and change the subtype again and again.

Did I even explain that clearly enough?

I'm seeing that you edited it on the 5th. You probably ran into the same issue this guy did, which was fixed shortly afterward.

I've restored your ownership.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

I've posted 3 hacks on the vault and shortly after the site was updated, I looked back at my vault to check on how many downloads I'd gotten, and the 2nd one was gone. Just gone. There was no trace of it. I searched and found it, but it doesn't make any sense for it not to be listed in my vault. Can anybody fix this or tell me what I need to do?
The hack is called "Metal Harbor". It's an audio hack and has 49 downloads as of right now. It also, for some reason, doesn't have a "show reports" icon. Help?
70  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Can I use a 4GB SD card for brawl at all? on: October 07, 2013, 07:43:37 PM
I use a 2gb card also, but before my 4gb card broke (quite literally too), when I used it on either Gecko OS or Riivolution, it didn't even read it.

Ok, so how do I rig the characters?
And do I just place the textures in the file/folder of the fighter?
Uhh... I, unfortunately have no experience in rigging. But texture hacks, yes, go in the fighter's folder.
72  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: The Complete N00B's Guide to Brawl Hacking on: August 26, 2013, 07:16:53 PM
So how does that affect the characters?
Textures just have to be mapped to the current model, while imports have to be rigged using the characters original bones.

Ok, awesome, just one more thing: Do I have to arrange these file in any way, say like:
mario
red-00
blue-01
etc..
Do you mean the recolors? Using Mario as an example, his original color (red Mario) would be named FitMario00.pac. Same with FitMario02.pac, Fit Mario03.pac, etc. The full list of character colors and their order is located on the first page of this forum under "3. Downloading and Using Brawl Hacks" -> "Characters" -> "Character Colors by File Number"

Ok, cool, so now what?
Now look around on this site for the hacks that you want. (Go to the top of this page; click on brawl vault; click on characters; click on the character you want; search through the lists till you find a hack that you want.) If you need any help with anything else, I'll be glad to help if I can.
75  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Interface Misc. / Trophy Assists? on: August 26, 2013, 06:12:52 PM
Does anyone know where these hacks go? I looked all over all of the common3 file where all the other items are, but I still can't find anything.
