31  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: BrawlVault: Feedback and Updates on: October 01, 2014, 03:48:05 PM
Guys, you shouldn't have deleted that Tails hack! To my knowledge, it's the only model of Tails that comes with a sloth.

I had this awesome CSP ready and everything!

In my case,
I really believed it was an import, props to the vertexer.

I checked this hack out the other day and knew right away you flagged it wrong, haha. I guess it's a lot easier to distinguish an import from a vertex when you work with vertexing as much as I have. I came here to point out the false report, but looks like you cats beat me to it.

This has been bugging me for a while now, but Ike's render is... well, it's great, but his face looks weird... the eyes, especially. It looks... kinda like he has downs syndrome. :|

In fact, I've noticed a trend among the human characters with anime styled faces; the eyes are almost always a tad strange in every render. They're often disproportionately squinty and small.

It's no big deal at all, but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Overall the work on these renders is jaw-dropping, so think of it less as a complaint and more as a friendly nudge, haha.

That Bowser is lookin' beautiful! Glad to see you guys updated him so quickly.

Any word on getting the Hacked version to work yet?
35  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: The Smash 3 Project - Short Circuit 3: 2 Fast, 2 Fat on: September 22, 2014, 05:46:03 AM

Not sure if this was done on purpose, but bowser is just an outline on the progress chart. Like I said, not sure if this was done on purpose.
Bowser is actually getting a new model (IIRC) and texture update. The Bowser they released was kind of a "beta" thing.

I can confirm that the Clone Tool won't work. I loaded up the files from the hack set and the only character that showed up was a Mario; none of the new characters.

I mean, it never really worked for me before, but it would at least display my current clones.

When you say you "found the problem", do you mean you fixed it and the Hacked version is now stable again? I'll try it again just in case.
37  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Project M+ on: September 21, 2014, 02:32:13 PM
...Uh, guys? Big problem.

I just downloaded the hacked version aaaaand... it isn't anything. At all.

It's just a completely unstable Brawl with Brawl cosmetics and the appearance of the Stage Expansion. If it doesn't freeze on the character select, it freezes when you do a match.

:| I'm pretty miffed because I just did a ton of work optimizing my SD for this. Bleh!

Erm... I know I'm probably going to get lambasted for this, but I think Sonic's eyebrows are way too subtle now. It's like he has none at all.
...Sonic doesn't have eyebrows!

I know what you meant, I'm just givin' you [censored], haha. The change doesn't particularly bother me; in fact, his eye lids were probably too prominent before.

Just a reminder; if any of you are using some sort of USB loader to load Brawl, make sure to go into the settings and switch the Hook Type to "AXNextFrame" before loading the game.

You guys should put that in the OP.

Also, I'm really hoping you guys have plans to get cracking on adding all these features to P:M's next release. The next update seems to be coming pretty soon.
40  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: The Smash 3 Project - Momma's Boys & Pet on: September 14, 2014, 12:09:34 PM
Yes, we've updated his texture as well.
Damn! So much work...

Ha, I kid. This is a good thing.
41  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: The Smash 3 Project - Momma's Boys & Pet on: September 14, 2014, 05:09:46 AM
Lucas? Finally! I've been dying to get my hands on him. My old Mother 3 version of him was pretty poor, but now I can touch it up properly!

I've got a question about Ness though; did you guys simply modify the colors, or did you also improve the texture of the images? I'm asking because I was just about to release my updated Earthbound recolor. If you've improved texture as well as color, I'd like to start all over again. Tongue

Love love love the progress. Don't stop here!
42  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Project Concepts / Re: Super Smash Bros. All Stars (Announcement) on: September 11, 2014, 05:15:38 PM
I gotta say guys; at this point I feel a little conflicted.

With the release of Smash 4 just around the corner, it's no secret that the Brawl hacking scene is going to slowly die out. Here I find myself wondering; how much longer should I keep this up for? In a year's time this could just be a lost cause.

For now, I'm gonna keep making little updates (definitely finishing that Lord Ike), but I don't know how long the project will last.

At this point I'm even considering dropping Brawl's engine for good and developing my own fan project from scratch; it'll give me more control and a better means to achieve what I'm looking for.

In the meantime, I've got around five new textures really close to release. We're talking Bowser, Ness, Pikachu, Captain Falcon, and somebody else I probably forgot.

Whatcha guys thinkin'? I hate to drop out of the game, but it's just inevitable. The clock's ticking out, y'know?

Has anybody else been having a problem with Snake? For me, selecting him almost guarantees a freeze. I've already redownloaded the package, too.

The current download link is unstable unfortunately. However, I have a stable pack in my computer lol. We just have to fix some things before we can release 0.7.
I recently downloaded the new "Hacked" version, and just as I suspected, the hack-set is running far more smoothly. It's still a bit unstable, but it's definitely worth it. Thanks a ton guys, this is just the base hack-set I needed!

As for LC,
Because how dare someone say something bad? No, we must silence the heathens at once.
No one cares if you don't personally like this package; no one is offended because you have an opinion. The problem is that your reasons for hating the mod are not only petty, but poorly thought out, and worse yet you're being obnoxious about it.

One shall see how much quality this pack will have. Quick hint though, don't hold your breath.
Like I said before... this isn't even a pack. It's a base for a hack-set.

This isn't about the extra characters or the new stages themselves necessarily. This is for people who want 100 stages for themselves to change, the ability to add extra characters.

So in terms of quality, this hack is already well above expectations.

It still feels a bit tacked on, though, to be honest. I still don't trust this pack to be any good as the others. Time will tell, I suppose, but it is pretty much still just a "let's take things from other people and bunch it up into a pack". I want to see what they can do to change this.
You're completely missing the point of this mod, LC. This is the first hack set of its kind. People have worked tirelessly to make P:M both BrawlEX and Stage Expansion compatible. A big reason why this pack is "as good as all the others" is that it does something no other pack does.
They don't need to do anything to change the hack (aside from fix some bugs); the whole point of the mod is to make a base for the downloader to personalize.

You only popped up in here trying to whiteknight this thread because you do the same damn thing.
No LC, I don't do the same thing.
What I'm working on is a pack.
But this guy made a hack-set.

And second of all, your main complaint is about just taking other's work and rehashing it without changing anything; something I don't do either. Do you have any idea how hard it is to make a PSA?

I'm "whiteknight"ing because P:M+ is one of the next steps for certain people in the hacking community and all you want to do is complaaaaain.

No, someone on a *Brawl hacking site* wants to change a **Total Conversion** to stray away from its original intent.
I'll believe you when somebody tries to change this game into Street Fighter.

Everything about hacking Brawl strays away from Smash's original intent. If that's what bugs you, then why are you here?

I'm pretty sure the way P:M made things, they were pretty much against unofficial builds, which technically, is what this is. So yes.
I'm pretty sure the way Brawl was built, Sakurai was against unofficial builds.

Now you're just being an idiot. But to be fair, there are still Melee addicts out there that think THAT is the truth, so I'll let it slide.
Well.
From the perspective of gameplay alone, I'd certainly side with those people.

Just because it's borrowed and properly credit doesn't suddenly make it okay to have a catch-all compilation pack whose mods someone can already get seperately.

...

Also, yeah, you're totally right. Downloading other people's hacks into a pack is SUCH hard work. P:M's good enough as it is, it doesn't NEED to be 'better'.
If it's not OK than why don't the moderators shut projects like this down?
Believe it or not, a lot of people don't have the time or patience to grab each little mod and update their hack-set like this. This is just convenient.

If P:M is "good enough as is", than why don't they just stop updating it?

You don't know what 'hypocrite' means, do you? IF I had a compilation pack of my own, you'd be right, but you're not.
Uh, actually, if I were here to complain about this "pack", that's what would make me a hypocrite in this situation. You're being a hypocrite because you're a hacker - in a thread about hacking - complaining about people hacking the game.

At least the others can form a coherent response. You barely have enough brainpower to post a [censored]ty GIF.
You know, people have been reported to the moderators for wittier insults than that.

The new Lucario is phenomenal. Keep 'em comin'!

Hey guys, I have a question for you all today concerning the P:M alternate costumes.
We were considering replacing some P:M alts entirely with our own and just not doing the P:M versions, how would you guys feel about this?
Ooh, now this is where things interesting. Let me add my two cents:
For the more high quality models, I think you should just stick to modifying the textures on them. Models like classic Fox, Ocarina of Time Link, etc.
But the lower quality models (like the "pirate Wolf" model, let's not kid ourselves) should be replaced. They were trying to go for a "classic" (SNES, N64) style Wolf, but there's something... off about it.

...Also, making an Assault styled Wolf would be incredible. But now I'm getting ahead of myself.

Personally, I really like the sound of this because I feel PM's last few alt announcements have been a little... lackluster? They look great, but I think they have their priorities a little mixed up.

At this moment we're specifically considering replacing Marth and Ike's with Awakening Marth and Hero Ike. Marth would have FE12 Marth (current) as the default with Awakening Marth as his costume, while Ike would get Hero Ike as his default, and Ranger Ike as his costume.
Very much like. Pls do.

Other things that have been talked about were replacing Virtual Boy ROB with a simple Virtual Boy recolour for ROB.
I think R.O.B. with a Virtual Boy on his head is pretty hilarious, actually. I'd consider keeping the model, the Mario Tennis game going on in his eyes is priceless.
