I had my own idea for a True Meta-Knight, but never finished it cause I ran out of ideas.
Rather than simply draw from the games, my idea would borrow from both the games and who Meta Knight is as a character....Thing is I know nil about PSA programming, and my animation is rusty.
I'd like to hear any ideas you had, I could credit you and incorporate them if I liked them enough.
@SonicBrawler - Orly? Each to his own I suppose, and I'll probably be making a standard Brawl Version soon. Well... not soon. Soon-ish. Maybe. Were you a Melee fan too?
After playing Project M I literally CAN'T go back to normal Brawl, haha. I was playing it recently and it felt just awful without L-canceling... or competitive gravity... or quicker attack speed...
I'm happy to say that this is an amazing re-working of metaknight! I have a mega compilation of Project M 2.6 were I have added a whole bunch of textures and graphical elements to brawl. In the long and short your hack impressed me enough to make it into this. Everyone who gets regular updates of my compilation will know of your work Ill be sure to sight you.
Oooooh, nice. Thanks for the mention, exposure's always nice! Have you seen my Ike PSA yet? Go ahead and use whatever PSA's you like, as long as you continue to credit me!
I'm checking out your hack right now, it looks really interesting. In the end, my "True" series is actually going to culminate in a hack pack a lot similar to this one.
So Vanguard next, huh? Aafyre's was nice, but I'd love to see an import of it.
I don't think he's doing Vanguard next, but I believe it's on his list. Yeah Aafyre's is pretty good quality for a vertex... but for something like Vanguard Ike I don't think vertexing really does the job right.
Looking great! That new texture is awesome too! Although I'd prefer a lighter texture in the cape...
The "True" PSA hack series is designed to provide each and every character with a moveset that is 100% faithful to their in-game abilities, while maintaining a sense balance.
Let's be fair; Smash Bros. is arguably the GREATEST gaming experience available. However, there's no denying that there are simply some things Sakurai got wrong. But through the magic of PSA hacking, we can make Brawl the game it should have been!
Most likely, I will NOT be making this hack for any other version of Brawl but PROJECT M. Seriously... Why would you hack this game and NOT play Project M? IF enough people complain, I MIGHT just reconsider. MAYBE. Don't count on it though. http://projectmgame.com/en/ ^ There's Project M. Seriously; download it. Instead of making me do all the work of coding/releasing alternate versions, do YOURSELF a FAVOR and download Project M. See? Everybody wins.
This is the next hack in the "True" series! Now this is a hack built for TRUE Kirby fans! Those familiar with the series will certainly appreciate the changes I've made here to Meta Knight. Each change is based entirely on the attacks and actions Meta Knight performs in all of his games.
- Change List -
SIZE MODIFICATION In the Kirby universe, Kirby is said to be about 8 inches tall. Meta Knight and Kirby are both apart of the same species. In other words, he'd be the same height as Kirby; in any case, he looks too large in Brawl.
JUMPS Meta Knight now has lyk 7 jumps, but the trick is his jump height is much worse. What I wanted to do was give him lyk 20 quick-jumps with even less jump height, but PSA won't let me do that for some reason... I'll figure it out soon. His mid air jump animation has been changed too; now he looks upwards as he flies.
RUN Run animation has been changed. The idea of gliding as a dash sounds cool and all, but A) it's not what Meta Knight does in his games and B) this new animation looks really, really cool.
JAB Meta Knight's jab is just stupid in Brawl. I've changed it to reflect a move he had in Kirby Super Star but now that I've seen what Meta Knight does in Return to Dream Land I'm probably gonna change this...
DOWN TILT This move now has forward momentum like int he games.
BACKWARD AERIAL The animation has been changed. It's not actually something Meta Knight does in any game... it's based off of a Galactic Knight animation.
DOWNWARD AERIAL The startup lag has increased, and the speed has decreased. I'm trying to make the move stop in the air upon startup.
- List of known bugs - Run animation slightly buggy. Slightly. Jab GFX not connect to sword... no big deal. Jab hitbox is a little wonky right now.
Please be sure to give me some feedback! Report any bugs, complaints, compliments or SUGGESTIONS (notice something frpm Kirby I didn't include? PLEASE tell me and I'll add it!) Thank you for downloading my hack; you WON'T be disappointed!
Isn't Giga Bowser just ONE slot? I need 10 Giga Bowser slots? It's the same with Wario Man? And If I don't have a texture filling EVERY slot, the game freezes?
The list that cBliss comes with is a little confusing. Certain characters have their red team costumes as one of the four added costumes; I don't understand how a costume the character already has can be considered an additional costume.
I used your (M2K) cBliss enabler thingamabobber on my P:M 2.6 GCT and... the game freezes. I can't play levels at all.
If I'm on the character select screen, and I scroll through the costumes, the moment I get to past the sixth costume the game freezes. It's a freeze with the beep. If I'm on the stage select screen, the moment I press to start the match... well, it doesn't freeze, but it doesn't DO anything. I just sit, and sit, and sit, and wait, and wait... and nothing.
I really, really wish someone would just upload a P:M ready .zip with all the proper directories in all the proper places, because I have absolutely no idea what could be going wrong. I've followed all the directions and no matter what my game just freezes. ._.
=EDIT= I dunno if I'm just being stupid or what, but I honestly feel this whole cBliss business needs a much more... thorough, specific tutorial. Something more... straightforward? I thought this would be easy enough, but... obviously all the freezing proves it's not...
Yeah, I DEFINITELY don't expect the P:M team to care about my hack, but I might as well try. This piece, or rather this series, has MASSIVE potential; Just wait until you see what I've got cooked up for Link. My Mario is getting close to done too, I oughtta work on him next.
Or maybe I should focus on the simpler characters... for the majority of the roster, there really isn't much to change at all. All I'm doing for Wolf is changing his stance, and for R.O.B. I'm cutting his size in half and changing his Special to an attack where he throws the blocks from Stack Up.
To be fair, if I were to make Ike TRULY "Ike-ish" he'd be... so unbelievably broken... In FE he really IS a tank. Trouble is, he's also incredibly fast. And Aether heals you with each point of damage it does. I think as a joke after this I'm going to release a TRUE True Ike, with all these unbelievably broken qualities. Lol... HEY maybe I should make that the Brawl Minus version! xD
I really can't wait to get my hands on this next piece; looking at it I can't help but feel it's PERFECT for a proper Greil vertex hack.
Normal Ike isn't buff enough for any Greil vertexes to look good. ...Although I suppose vertex hacking could make it look that way, this model would probably look more natural for it.
Sounds to me you'll be the type ready to judge and shoot down 4 because it's not Melee 3, but that isn't the point I'm trying to make here.
The development team is actually trying to make it bridge the gap between Brawl and Melee. You can see in the footage that attacks are faster and gravity is stronger. I'm real hyped for Smash 4, even if it's not as close to Melee as I'd like.
Um, that's the point of B-Minus. It's not supposed to be taken seriously.
I was told that the point was to alter each character except for Meta Knight, to make them as good as Meta Knight. The same guy, who I'd say is pretty knowledgeable about Smash, said it was fairly balanced. But he was telling me some RIDICULOUS things characters could do, so I'm actually not to convinced by him, haha.
But that's... exactly what you're doing by inserting True Ike into P:M only. I'll admit you'd have done a good enough job of it to maybe be accepted into their team, but don't quote me on that.
I knew you would say that. See, putting this in Minus would sort of UNhack the hack. But putting this in Project M ENHANCES the hack. Replacement and enhancement are different. It's really not the same. Ah, and thanks for the compliment. Hearing stuff like that is encouraging since this is my first PSA. I'm surprised I could pull off a near-PM quality hack within the span of like... 2-3 days maybe. I've considered approaching the team and asking what they think, suggest that they consider polishing it up etc.
I'm not saying Brawl was better though. I'm just saying I'd like an option to play with this PSA in vBrawl. You just make it sound like it's the only pack worth modding, as if P:M created the hacking scene and not tampering with vB.
In the end I'm probably going to make a Standard Brawl version because A) that would give my hack more exposure and B) that'd be really easy; I basically wouldn't have to change anything but the characters gravity... and maybe add some frame speed modifiers to make some attacks slower. ...In fact I might not even do that for the sake of making Ike a decent character in Brawl.
Brawl was floaty as balls and had no combos because hitstun was virtually non-existent. It's a great game, but it will NEVER be as fun as Melee. You're just trippin'. Pun intended.
Brawl Minus is a really neat idea but it feels really fake, and the point of this hack is to provide the most authentic "Nintendo" experience possible. There's little point in making a Minus version because the changes in this hack wouldn't translate well; Minus Ike has a cancel-into-anything Quickdraw and an Eruption you can charge, store, and use later. My True PSA WON'T include these features, and the broken gameplay of Minus is the whole point of the pack. "Hey, here's a hack for your hack which un-hacks the hack you hacked. HERFUDERPALUMAFOERPLEEEEEEEE"
Brawl Plus is basically dead.
Of all the major hack packs P:M has the heaviest gravity, the most rewarding hitstun, is easily the most balanced pack, and is essentially the most faithful return to Melee, which is... arguably the best game in the series. You'd have to make a REAL good case to convince anyone Brawl, in terms of gameplay rather than content, was better. If I'm snooty for having a preference for fast, rewarding, competitive gameplay than so be it. Your assessment of "LOL NOT P:M" is waaaaaaaaay too simplistic.
I honestly couldn't care less if the P:M team frowns on customization. The SSBB developers frown on hacks.
Like I said, I might consider making this for the other packs like Minus and standard Brawl. But... that sounds like a ton of work for versions of the game I frankly don't consider worth playing.
The highlights in the texture are a tad bright tho. There are certain parts (such as the sleeves) that are originally black, which you've colored grey. I'm all for adjusting the brightness so it fits with the game; but nothing black should look grey.
Yeah, that neutral air is probably my favorite move in the whole game right now! Post Merge: July 20, 2013, 04:12:13 PMTrue Ike v1.5 has been released in the vault!! I repeat, True Ike v1.5 has been released!!
Changes: New Jab, New Down Smash, various Post Merge: July 21, 2013, 12:42:50 PMI really hate to triple post, but A) it's my own thread and B) I'd like to update it in a way where those following the thread are notified.
True Ike v2 has been released in the vault!!
Changes: New Dash Attack, New Up Smash, Forward Tilt made slower, Up Tilt made weaker.
I'm gonna make the forward momentum on the Dash Attack go a liiiiiiiittle bit farther soon. And I have to admit... the new Up Smash is... maybe kinda sort of cheap. But not really! See, it has a tendency to... combo into itself. HOWEVER, this is only true when fighting CPUs, who are too stupid to L-cancel and roll when they are launched towards the stage. Any human fighter with even a basic grasp of this game should be do that, making the move fair. But, even with all that, I still think the move needs a little balancing and a lot more end lag. It's NOT game breaking at all though. The Forward Tilt is a little slower than I'd like but for now it's perfectly fine. The Up Tilt was cheap as balls before; it had literally all the same properties it did before, but the new animation made it's range INSANE. I didn't want to make the move slower, so to compensate I lowered the damage.
Enjoy! Version 2.5 will include slight graphical changes, balancing tweaks and polished animations. Version 3, the final version, will contain edits to the specials. Look forward to it!
Path of Radiance will always be the top Fire Emblem game. Always.
I HAVE the SNES games, but... I've barely ever touched them! They give you SO many options, it so overwhelming! Hey, thanks for reminding me to look into those games again. ...Oh! And perchance to make some hacks based off of those Lord characters! >
Hopefully I get my True Ike PSA working before ths model gets rigged... The Jab is mad bugging out... AAAAH, and the Jab is one of the coolest pars of the hack!!
