Eh, yeah I got more to talk about this bug that's been the bane of my modding career. I've made a mod that's called "Sonic Pokemon Z" and on occasion when a character's entry is trying to show up, or even when it isn't (Training mode), the game may crash. I know that no files are corrupt and it is entirely random. I did some troubleshooting just to come-up empty handed for years now. I have noticed that the game on rare occasions doesn't load the texture or Motion file for a non-BrawlEx character. If the game tried to load a BrawlEx character it would certainly crash. Though that doesn't explain why it happens in Training Mode as I can see that all of the character's files have loaded properly.
Brawl Vault isn't exactly the most populated place anymore, but if I can fix this then I can focus on some other bugs in the game and help others that have issues with it.
I'm starting a thread here to help people that may have issues with my mod.
These are all currently known bugs:
Disable Panic Handler as it causes several issues.
Make sure your Hooktype is set to AXNextFrame.
Make sure you are running a version of Dolphin that has SDHC support. Always use a 4GB or higher Virtual/SDHC card.
Try to avoid having a player select an original brawl character for one match and then select a clone based on that character for the next match as this can cause instability (backing out of the CSS after every match can avoid this problem but the crash is infrequent enough for me that I don't think it's worth it).
Clear mode will crash the game. [FIXED, but Clear Mode doesn't change anything]
Attempting to have a second player join in any of the solo mode activities will crash the game. [Seems to work fine now with Time Patrol]
If Naruto or Future Truncks activate their Fatal KO then the Fatal KO feature will be disabled until the game is reset. [FIXED]
Team Battles in All-Star VS mode will result in characters being stuck to a color specific costume.
After a character loses their first stock in Stamina mode they will be instantly killed if the are in their down state and will be affected by the blast zones even if the world wrap is active.
I'd recommend setting a save state at the CSS so if the game freezes you can just load the save state so as to avoid having to reboot Dolphin.
If you run this game on the Wii/Wii U then these issues will occur:
Selecting Haunter, Cloud, Naruto, Geno, Zoroark, Rainbow Dash, Piccolo, Krillin, Dark Sonic, Zamasu, Rouge the Bat, Lloyd, Gohan(Adult), Darkrai, Sephiroth, Klonoa, 2D Marisa, Airalin, Tuff Puff, Decidueye, Bass, Broly, Aegislash Knight, Megaman, Cream & Cheese, Alastor, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Emerl, Ridley, or 2D Alice may cause a crash at the result screen for some consoles. [FIXED]
The game may freeze mid-battle if Tails and Blaze are in the same battle.
Home Run Contest will freeze immediately after selecting your character. [FIXED]
Noah the Fox will always crash the game. (Fixed? I reduced the file-size of Noah's cosmetics a while ago, so it may not crash on Wii/Wii U anymore. I haven't tested this so I'm unsure of this right now.)
The FPS will drop below 60 very frequently if more then 3 high-poly characters are on screen.
There have been many reports of freezing at the CSS, I haven't ever encountered this issue and I can't recreate it. (This may be caused by using an outdated version of Dolphin.)
Has anyone made any stage hacks, character mods, or music imports from Sonic Forces? I'd like to see Infinite or some of the awesome stages in that game get their own mods.
Well I figured I'd make yet another post for this. I think this is like the 48th time or some [censored]. Anyways I've made a BrawlEx mod pack called "Sonic & Pokemon M Super+ Advanced", and ever since it's inception there have been bugs. I've practically fixed every bug that surfaced, some even solved themselves when I shifted to Dolphin. But there's always been this nasty bug that seems to happen very randomly and for no reason I can pinpoint. The bug causes the game to crash during the character entries at random. I've tried replicating almost every scenario only to come out empty handed.
I know it's NOT the entry files in any way, shape, or form. It's not a file space issue. And it's not a missing file or anything. I'm fairly certain it has something to do with my codelist. I've looked thoroughly through the codes countless times, but I'm just not that familiar with coding.
When you open a codelist in Code Manager and want to create a .GCT file make sure that the codes you want active have a checkmark on it. I'd also recommend keeping a .txt file backup of your codelist so you can edit it at anytime. Another thing I sometimes forget is when I add a new code to click the "save modifications" button before creating the .GCT file or the awesome new code you added won't be there.
I've heard lots of people say this site is "dead" because Sm4sh modding has become quite popular. But it still seems to be as active as ever. Sammi Husky is working on bringing more Exmodules for characters and fixing other ones. Modders have recently created and are working on more fantastic mods.
Calikingz01 recently made a Frieza PSA with good GFX, models, SFX, etc. and is currently working on a Vectorman PSA. KingJigglypuff made a remake of the PM Ridley PSA for vBrawl with the classic design (which I personally prefer) and it looks like he's at work on Decidueye and Team Rocket Meowth. Of course there's always everyone's favorite: Full mod packs, PMex or Legacy XP anyone? vBrawl mod packs? How about Super Smash Sisters, Sonic & Pokemon M Super+, or SSB Infinite?
I genuinely feel like there's still a lot of creativity still to be seen on this site. Great mods are released almost weekly. Sure their are some that you may not like, but you'll find that one texture or PSA that you just absolutely love and couldn't stand to be without in your mod pack.
I reached the limit of 50 characters with the Custom CSS code. So I shifted to using the CSSRoster.dat and was able to add the 51st character and every character works flawlessly. But some of the CSS icons are flickering, what does the CSSRoster.dat do that causes this nasty bug? Is there any potential fix? I'm fairly certain as I've seen mods that incorporate over 80 characters into the mod (Super Smash Sisters, SSB Infinite) that don't have this issue.
Respawn from the air like an Alloy 4A000000 8077F908 D2000000 00000003 2C1e00BE 40820008 3BC0000E 60000000 93DD0038 00000000
And for some reason whenever Goku dies with Kaioken or SSJ2 he respawns with it. Furthermore if Goku dies when he's at 70% or higher, when he respawns his down-b triggers SSJ2 instead of Kaioken. Can anyone offer a solution here?
A relatively simple question. How do I move the stock display and difficulty selection that appears in Classic mode/Boss Battle? Is there a specific file that I'm missing?
I'd like a code that would cause Star KO/Screen KO to go into a normal KO. This is to speed up times between deaths. I already have a code that makes characters respawn faster so getting rid of Star KOs would really speed things up.
Well I figured I'd make another post for this. I think this is like the sixth time. Anyways I've made a BrawlEx mod pack called "Sonic & Pokemon MX", and ever since it's inception there have been bugs. I've practically fixed every bug that surfaced, some even solved themselves when I shifted to Dolphin. But there's always been this nasty bug that seems to happen very randomly and for no reason I can pinpoint. The bug causes the game to crash during the character entrys at random. I've tried replicating almost every scenario only to come out empty handed. If anyone can offer insight into this, the help would be greatly appreciated.
I'd like someone to configure Calikingz' Goku moveset for BrawlEx. His soundbank should be set to Crazy Hand, and his GFX configured to the same ID as the Giant Goomba in SSE.
Anyone that picks this up will be properly credited in my BrawlEx pack!
