31  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: October 13, 2010, 06:30:10 PM
Aha! Nice ideas. I don't know much about MGS3, I'm more into Solid Snake. Though I do have an extensive knowledge of both Big Boss and Solid Snake. If anyone wants too, they could use the boneless models as trophies.

If you haven't played MGS3, you really need to.  I haven't played MGS4, but I've played through the other 3 multiple times, and MGS3 is easily my favorite story and gameplay wise.  There are just so many little details to the gameplay, and the story manages to be sort of profound without being overwrought and crazy like MGS2's.  It's probably my favorite game of all time, I really wish I hadn't broken my PS2.  You can get Subsistence for like ten bucks at most Gamestops.  No excuse, you're one of the biggest contributors to this thread.

If you could rip The Boss with her suit unzipped and Snake's Green Beret Uniform (which only appears during cutscenes so I can understand why this might be difficult), then I can finish two hacks I've been stuck on for a while.

Also, definitely get textures for all of Snake's camos and all of the Cobras, plus Volgin, Ocelot, and EVA.  If you feel like going the extra mile, try and get the enemy textures for the Spetsnaz, KGB, Ocelot Unit, and GRU guys, and maybe even textures for Sigint, Major Zero, and Para-Medic from the end cutscene.

As far as area textures, I'd also be interested in Groznyj Grad, Rokovoj Berej (Where you fight the boss), Dolinovodno (Where that rickety bridge is in the beginning, this would make an AWESOME stage), and the Summit of the Mountain.  Honestly get as many area textures as you can, particularly from places where you fight bosses.  This game has gorgeous scenery.

I know that's a hefty wishlist, do only what you can.  If I have to pick just one, then I pick the Boss.

I won't be using 3D Ripper DX, instead I'll be trying to rip textures with programs like 3DVIA and Texmod.
I already read about 3D Ripper Not working a while ago, I won't make that mistake...

And xxTerminatorxx, you sound too confident in me XD .

Actually, somebody used 3D Ripper DX to get Xenosaga models: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?465674-KOS-MOS-model-and-possibly-other-Xenosaga-models&p=8860236#post8860236 read all the posts by sarah, she explains how it works.

Sorry for the double post...

Good luck with that. All my attempts to do so ended in crashes.
3D Ripper Dx doesn't get along with PCSX2 for some reason.

If it did, I would have ripped all of MGS3 a long time ago.

I'm making a version of my Big Shell stage to go over SMI.
One more big thing needs to be completed, and afterwards I'll release it.

I really liked your original bigshell stage, but might I suggest eliminating the bridge rail that's in the foreground for the new version?  It makes it really difficult to see.  The whole stage could definitely be bigger too.  It's awkwardly crammed on the left side of the screen.  I know it's probably way too late to make such a big change, but IMO the best Big Shell location to turn into a stage would be the Shell1-2 connecting bridge where you fight the harrier.  It has two floors and lots of interesting scenery compared to the rest of the bridges.

It took me two weeks to download the ISO.  I suggest starting a novel or trying to master the Harmonica.  Just leave your computer on when you can with the downloader minimized and it'll go a lot quicker.

2 Weeks!? Wow, that's a little to long I think. Wait, if it took 2 weeks, wouldn't that like take up all your computer space? My computer would explode lol. Also, good luck my friend.

It was 12 gigs... I have 250... So no.  It was just a poorly seeded torrent.

Well I've got the standard 100% save file, and I was hoping to grab a savestate of the inventory menu from... somewhere.
Just so I can skip what I don't need to see.
I'll probably need to trek through that though, anyway.

I'm confident that my computer will be able to run the game at a semi-decent speed though, as it can run Dolphin well.

I just have to wait for this game of mine to finish downloading...
Though I'm afraid waiting isn't my forté...
I should go snap some pencils or something like that...

I've given up on ripping my copy of MGS3, instead I've turned to downloading a game for an emulator and ripping the camoflage textures from there. This download is a whopping 7 GB though, so expect it done in a day or two provided I have the bandwidth.
I should try and rip the rest of Snake's textures while I'm at it, but that will take a lot of screen grabs...

A word of advice, I had the same Idea, and it runs SLOOOOOOOW on the emulator.  It still might be possible, but I hope for your sake you have a better rig then I do.  It's not hard.  I'm on a dual-core Dell Laptop.  Nearly made it to the first Codec sequence, but then it crashed, and I obviously had to skip the cutscenes, which itself took half an hour.  It's apparently possible to play through the whole game on PCSX2, but it might be rough.  If you have your disk still, I'd recommend running it from that instead of an ISO, and just getting the BIOS from a torrent.

Hey man, one thing, the sword is getting pallets from the CPU/Other character and much other things on the round, I tried to put Dark Nut and the same and worst, it keeping appearing black big pixels at the screen, according with ganondorf idle movement/attack.
Well, this is what happening (on Dolphin and Riivolution):
Here is a LOT of examples of this pallet glitch (13 Examples):

Most of times, this happens when you got an hit, any type, or only the character and EVEN the pause on the training mode!
Most of the characters contain a white sword, but with pink border/shade.
Any help?

This is the glitch I was talking about earlier.  The darknut sword textures itself with the body texture of whoever you're fighting.  It looks really weird.  I've tried deleting the Darknut sword and redownloading numerous times but it keeps happening.  I have no idea what would cause this sort of thing.

You made one of my many requests from a long time ago happen.  There Will Be Brawl!  Now, if you can get the Falcon Punch voice from TWBB to the game, that would be most epic.  Good work!

I'm kind of preoccupied by far more important and to be honest, meaningful matters IRL right now, but my long term plan is to eventually do TWBB versions of every character, add voice packs, add stages, add CSP's, Assist Trophies, even change some of the visual effects when characters get hit to look like blood spatter if I can figure that out.  Basically the long term plan is to make There Will Be Brawl: The Game. I'm basically done with Samus and Mario, as well as a Newscaster Lakitu Assist Trophy, and I'm very close to finishing the Ice Climbers.  However, if I do ever get around to accomplishing all of what I'd hoped, it will be in short, small bursts over a long, long period of time.

Brawl Trophy models have No rigged bones.

That would explain it.  Still, I'll definitely be updating the Naked Snake I've got with those textures.

Hey guys... I just had an epiphany...  You know the Naked Snake Trophy?  Why haven't we tried to port that model over Snake yet?  Same for Iriquois Pliskin...
42  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: September 22, 2010, 09:36:30 PM
Nice touch. Any idea why most Snake texture hacks have a different teeth texture than the original Brawl Snake?

The reason for this is in my MGS:TTS Snake texture I textured his teeth to look better. It's originally yellow, and I didn't like that. I noticed Irishladdie's Liquid Snake had the white teeth and the MGS:TTS ripped eyes. It's obvious he used my hack for his hack. Lol, it dosn't matter.

Yeah...  No denials here, I used your face texture as a Base so that they would end up looking more like "twins".

Hey irishladdie727, have you started on your Squares Camo texture yet?

No...  I've got so much going on IRL right now stuff like that's kind of getting dropped.  However I got PCSX2, and now I'm trying to download the subsistence ISO, it's just been two weeks and it's barely halfway done...  It'll be a while.

So have you dropped the Squares Camo permanently, or will you attempt it at a later time? If permanently, I'll ask someone else or try to figure out how to do it myself. ~.~

Hey Eternal Yoshi, what's happening with the Smoking taunt? The ball is in your court, so to speak.

I plan to do as many camos as I can once I get the emulator working, but like I said, it might be another 2 weeks before the ISO finishes downloading. :/ Your call.  And in all likelihood all prioritize other stuff ahead of this when I get chances to do Brawl hacks since I feel like I've done a million Snake camos already.  But I still plan to get around to it when I can.

dude, I officially love you for the Kirby 'the Cannibal' hack. the TWBB series is just too epic!!!
Maybe you can do hacks of the other characters in the series?

Way, way, WAY, ahead of you.  Mario and Zamus are more or less done, Donkey Kong, the Ice Climbers, and Luigi are well along the way.  I even made a newscaster Lakitu hack.  I'm going to do them all.  Stages too.
