406  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: September 09, 2010, 11:51:39 PM
Maybe I should just give out a pack of ripped character textures to whoever wants them ^_^' .
If we were going to remake characters, then we should also think of which character would best work as a base for the recreation.

I just realised there's no 'damaged' textures for Snake, but there are for most other characters...
On topic, what is the forum's opinion on which character from MGS:TTS/MGS2 should be attempted to be recreated in SSBB?

The ears are particularly good in my opinion. What was the hardest part of Honey for you to modify?

No need to critique someone else's work publicly. If you want to, try making a better texture instead.
People have a free right to choose whatever they create, what they create their hack from, and whichever way they make that hack.

Well there's yaz0r's ModelViewerWX, apparently it supports many PS2 model types: http://papercraftershaven.charsisforge.org/mdltools/mvwx.rar

It would be possible via a direct 3D screen grab of MGS3 being emulated on PCSX2 with "3DVia Printscreen," I believe.
That picture was of the official modelling program used by Konami's team. The picture notes an advantage the team used to reduce loading times, if I remember correctly.

Edit: I could try ripping textures via the same method using "3D Ripper DX", if the first program fails...

No, I meant the snake picture two pages back. It seems that I got ninja'd. btw, I could give ripping textures from MGS3 a shot. I just need to dump the ISO from my copy.

Oh wow. It looks twice as good in-game, huh?

Ah, but I tried using PSicture. Unless it was because of a dump error...
I agree with the liquid texture. But it'd need vertexed hair, too.

Lock! It's awesome! Nostalgic Cheesy .
btw, what did you rip his textures with? I tried so hard, but failed...

That's all fine. I just wouldn't like to have my own words misconstrued.

I'd just like to say that I was quoted inaccurately (I did not mention fusing and I didn't thank Terminator.) However, I do believe improvements for Snake's texture/model could be found.

Well gee, that looks almost perfect. Is there any chance the headband could be fixed in the future? Very good, sir.

  • ...I'll see to it with the genome soldier.
  • Animated box hiding would make my day.
  • The socom could act with the same attributes as Sheik's needles; that is, it's not powerful but shoots a far distance. In that way, it could replace something like ↓A (with other adjustments.)
  • If people really want a magazine, so be it. Personally, the magazine's stun idea was mine. But I also believe it wouldn't work fairly in-game, upon consideration. At the time, it just made more sense to me that the magazine would have attributes close to that of the MGS series. My apologies.
  • Perhaps as a taunt, we could have Snake pull out the magazine, look at it vertically and smile?
  • And if Snake is going to smoke a cigarette in a taunt, I don't think that taunt should cause him any damage. In the MGS series, it took around 30 seconds for the cigarette to effect Snake.
