YES. I can use those. This site:http://darthscreencapture.com/MGS3/u.html has pictures of all the camos, but what's really useful are those squares that contain the actual prints themselves.
If only we could find them for the regular campaign camos, we'd have everything we need to make them all.
Yeah, but I doubt we'll be able to find those in convenient square form. :/
Ah well, perhaps someone will make the better missing ones from scratch? I know I've seen a few of them already in the Vault. Would you be interested in making the red squares texture, irish?
I also found this little image, but it's too probably small to be helpful:
And to answer your question, no, nobody has ever ripped anything from MGS3, or anything from any PS2 game ever. It hasn't ever been figured out. All MGS2 rips are from the PC version.
Okay, got it. If someone wouldn't mind, would you make a new texture out of that red brick camo from MGS3? That would be perfect for the Red Team texture. It doesn't look like it would be that hard, either...
I wonder if anyone has ripped textures from MGS3?
BTW, Eternal Yoshi, you said on smashboards that the new taunts project has hit a dead end... Any hope left, or do you think editing Snake's taunts is impossible at any point?
P.S.: While I was searching for the MGS3 Red Brick Camo texture, I came across this page, which has all the downloadable textures for MGS3:
Wow, this looks like just what I've been waiting for. I'm currently using a mashup of MasterlinkX's pack, the Brawl- codeset, and PW's 9 extra stages code, loaded via the Stage Builder exploit.
My favorite thing about MLX's pack is how alternate versions of stages are set to load if you hold down Y+A when you select the stage. I'd like to use your alternate file loader for character textures in conjunction with the A+Y alternate stages code...
Is there some set up where A+Y at the SSS loads alternate stages from Folder A, while holding down L (or maybe Z) after selecting your character/until the SSS appears/as the match starts will load the alternate texture and .pac files for that character from Folder B? I'd like to be able to load alternate characters without having to load alternate stages as well, and vice versa.
Also, could the Y+A alternate stages code load alternate music for the alternate stage somehow?
Lastly, a few more quick questions:
Do button codes involving L or R cause problems with exiting a match via L+R+A+Start?
Once you press the button activator for alternate characters (such as L or Z) at the CSS, can you let go of those buttons immediately, or must you hold them until you enter the SSS or until the match starts? After a match using alternate files, I assume the textures return to the default set, and the button activator must be entered again to use the alternate files again...?
Old Snake, the one you said it is better, gave me problems when trying to give him the Solid Eye, same glitch that Big Boss has now.
I wouldn't worry about giving that Old Snake texture the Solid Eye if it's giving you trouble. It's not like Old Snake always had it equipped.
I haven't tried the trophies yet. I'll let you know if there's any problems with them once I do.
Thanks for looking into fixing Pliskin's ears.
Hey EternalYoshi, have you looked into Snake's taunts using Tabuu yet?
P.S.: Anyone know of any good red texture hacks for Snake? I've only found Russian Sneaking Suit Snake, which only has a little red. Something similar to this would be good:
I know that looks similar to Snake's default red and black camo, but it's the best red design I can think of at the moment.
Yeah, I just tried out Terminator's pack too. My impressions and problems:
First of all - this might be just a glitch - but my codes for Brawl- stopped working once I added these Snake textures in. Probably unrelated.
Update: The reason Snake's moveset reverted from Brawl- style to vBrawl style was because I moved the Brawl- "FitSnake.pac". Oops!
Moving on...
MGS1 Snake: Looks GREAT, except that the ammo packs and sidearm are white, and you can see through parts of his chest (around the straps), back, and right where his neck meets his collar. There are also two blue triangles just behind Snake's arms that don't look like they should be there. While these are minor flaws, this texture would be truly awesome if there were no see-through spots or odd blue triangles.
Tuxedo Snake: No problems, but Snake's hands have a different skin color than his face does... :/
MGS2 (?) Snake: No problems.
Big Boss: His face, ammo packs, and sidearm each had this glitchy, rusty-looking texture. Otherwise, no problems.
Pliskin: No problems, but those robot ears bug me. They would look much better if they were vertexed properly - old Snake has his Solid Eye vertexed in over his Final Smash eyes, so couldn't a realistic headset be vertexed onto Pliskin? Just a thought.
Old Snake: No problems, but I think there's a better old Snake texture in the vault (no offense):
BTW, I get that the C4 texture is supposed to look more like it did in the MGS games, but what is that Grenade texture supposed to be? I don't recognize it.
Update: Just remembered, the grenade texture comes from common3.pac, so you guys might not know what I'm talking about. This Grenade texture looks "alien", like it came out of Halo or Half-life.
Update: I downloaded your Snake comes to Brawl pack, Terminator, 'bout to try it out soon. Quick question: What are the titles of the music you included (S02-S06)?
Hey guys, it looks like the thread I posted over at Smashboards Customized Content is finding favor slowly but surely. I've got good news and bad news:
Good news:
Eternal Yoshi says the Salute and Cloaking Device taunts are possible! He's currently looking into the extra stuff for the Box taunt.
Bad news:
"The ! and Cigar/Cigarette aren't possible without article hax. [...] Article hacks have not been looked into yet. As of now, it may be difficult to insert the articles correctly without sacrificing other articles. Tabuu does open up possibilities at how they work in FitSnake.pac and soon we may be able to make new ones using it, but as of now, the Cigar will have to wait." - Eternal Yoshi
While this means the cigarette and "!" taunts have hit a dead end, we've still got the Salute, the Cloaking Device, and the Box (probably with the new features).
Eh, Bent, seriously you like the way Snake already looks?
I said I'm "fine with" Snake's current look... Once you main a character for a few years, you just get comfortable with the way they look, you know? Besides that, I've been known to have facial hair like that sometimes, lol. They even call me "Snake" at GameStop.
Not that I don't like MGS: tTS Snake - I think it's a classic look - I just don't want to give up Snake's current face entirely. Snake has six .pcs slots... I'd probably use two or three with the face of Brawl Snake/Big Boss, one or two for classic Snake's face, and two or three completely different characters, like Wesker (a favorite of mine).
So yeah, I like facial hair on Snake. It gives his face some variety. But classic Snake is good too. That's my opinion.
That's the point of me even working on the Twin Snakes Solid Snake for his main texture.
I really think his main texture needs to be changed to what I just mentioned since it looks retarded.
You mean this one?
Or this one?
That was the only Snake texture I saw in your Brawl Vault submissions. It looks like it would look better in the game... I'll download it and try it out soon.
I think Snake looks like a hobo for his Brawl look. Nintendo fused together MGS3 Big Boss and MGS2 Diving suit together, it's like the put the wrong face on or somthing... Thank you Terminator for fixing this with TTS texture.
Based on this, I think this needs to be changed. We can't just say "He looks like his father" he may so look like that in Brawl as his default texture, but it dosn't need to stay like that. If we start giving him Big Boss' personality to Snake like how Nintendo did, it won't turn out pretty. It would of been better for Big Boss to be ported seperately over Olimar. Besides, anyone should agree that Big Boss' face and MGS2 suit fused together looks retarded anyway.
Eh, I'm actually fine with how Snake currently looks... A MGS: tTS Snake looks may look better to some people, but I'm sure just as many prefer the default mix of Big Boss's face with Snake's diving suit.
Honestly, I'm going to have to reserve judgment until I see MGS: tTS textures in-game.
I disagree with replacing Olimar with Big Boss; One "Snake" is enough. However, it might be a good idea to use a Big Boss moveset for Snake's Clone Engine alternate (is that working now?)... Unless there's a better candidate. Snake does happen to be the base for several popular characters (Gordon Freeman and the Resident Evil 5 textures come to mind).
Oh, and nice job Bent on the thread, the only question is Cigars or Cigarattes?
Thanks. Hopefully it will attract the attention of a good animator or two.
Everyone should be able to pick and choose which textues they want to use.
Cigars or cigarettes? Probably cigarettes, since this is Solid Snake we're talking about. It would be nice if Big Boss textures could have cigars without affecting the other .pcs slots, but I'm guessing that won't work.
Hey guys, I posted this summary of what we've decided on so far over at the smashboards Customized Content board:
"Animator(s) Needed for Two new taunts for Snake"
Hi! Over at KC: MM, a few other guys and I have been discussing how Snake could use two new taunts. Having the box for all three is ridiculous if you ask us. Take a look at the discussion thread if you like:
In general, we've decided to go with a Salute and Smoking for Snake's new side taunt and down taunt, respectively. We want to keep the box up taunt since it's the fastest form of that taunt. Now we just need an animator or two, and anyone else with the technical knowhow needed to make these two new taunts a reality.
To elaborate:
The salute is meant to be a quick, no-nonsense taunt that doesn't last long at all but gets the point across. Snake should salute (with his right hand) in whichever direction he's facing, not towards the screen. Then again, perhaps saluting toward the player would make more sense than saluting the opponent...
I do wonder if there is a better quick taunt for Snake than a salute? In the MGS series, Snake is always pretty somber when he salutes, not sarcastic... IIRC. I've only played MGS: tTS. Feel free to make suggestions for a better quick, "taunty" kind of taunt.
The only other feasible taunt ideas we've thought of so far are Snake's Cloaking Device and the "!" alert... But the Cloaking Device is more functional than taunty, and the "!" makes more sense on enemy soldiers, since it mostly appeared over them in the MGS games (again, IIRC).
Smoking, the new down taunt, may be frowned upon by some (I did at first), but smoking is an iconic part of Snake's character, and there seems to be more support for it than opposition. We think that the Smoking taunt should be similar to the box taunt, in that after Snake smokes for a second or two, he should toss the cigarette behind him (we're undecided in what way exactly; over the shoulder? Underhanded?). Then again, tossing it in front of him could work just as well (that would be more "bad@$$" I suppose - imagine flicking the cigarette at an opponent struggling to recover and getting a Cig KO). Being so much lighter, I think tossed cigs should travel farther horizontally than the box does, unless a shorter range works better for Cig KOs.
Anyhow, the cigarette should inflict minor fire damage and knockback to opponents on contact. As a nod to the way smoking works in MGS - and to how harmful they are to your health - we think that the Smoking taunt should also inflict 1% damage to Snake whenever it's used. Also, since SSBB Snake looks a lot like Big Boss (Snake's "clone-daddy"), it should be noted that Big Boss preferred cigars, not cigarettes.
Ah, and one more thing:
If this is even possible, we'd like it a lot if Snake could move around while hiding under his box, and be able to stay under there until the A button is pressed or he is attacked. We also think it would be stealthy if Snake could drop C4 (or even Grenades) silently while he's under the box. He's never been able to drop such things like that in the MGS games, but it sounds like a fun idea.
Now, any animators out there willing to help us make Snake's new taunts?
