Thanks! I appreciate it.
2  Help & Tutorials / Help / I need a barebones .gct file on: September 28, 2011, 07:40:10 AM
It's been a really long time since I've been here. Also a long time since I've even tinkered with anything related to hacking Brawl. Forgot a lot of things essential to it. I come back asking for a small request.

I want what I recall is a .gct file with as little coding as possible so that it'll work through an ISO through Wiiflow with Ocarina enabled. That is, if gct files is what Ocarina uses.

I use to simply resort to my physical copy of Brawl through Gecko for everything I've implemented, but I don't know what has happened to my copy and I'd rather not simply go out and purchase another.

All I want is for the ability to replace all the music, and all text in the game. Nothing else, not even character models or stage replacements.

I've rummaged through the tutorials and help threads, but they don't seem to have what I'm looking for. I appreciate any help I can get from anyone here.

Damn.

Alright. Thanks anyway, you guys.

It regards the extra 9 stages we can add to our selection of stages.

I'd like to replace all the pictures of Battlefield and FD in them in order to better remember what stage is what.

Is this even possible?

If so, how can I do this?

What Doomfire said.

Great job on the CSPs though, I could really use some of these!

This may sound like a dumb question but I'm really at a .

If anyone can seriously direct me to the best guide in changing character portraits, that would be absolutely wonderful.

I'm really trying to make my hacked Brawl more authentic. So far I managed to change all the song titles so I want to change the big and small portraits next.

Also, would I have to make my own CSS or can I use the CSS I have now and just edit it through Brawlbox?
7  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: .pacs on: September 26, 2010, 03:57:11 PM
I thought I'd ask a question since we're discussing .pac files. Something recently hit me and I believe certain hacks are what make my game freeze.

Should .pac files be the exact same size for all the models/textures of each character? For example, my Squirtles. I have 5 model hacks set for them. All .pac files in there are about 575 KB except for one particular model hack. It's 607 instead.

Just wondering if this is a problem.

I tried updating to a new SD card with more space. I am, in fact, running out of space on mine.

I got an 8 GB SD that is, in fact, compatible with Homebrew. The list said so, so I believed that everything Homebrew uses should be compatible as well.

Everything seems fine until it applies SD codes through Gecko. It SAYS it's applying the codes, but nothing is changed when Brawl actually starts.

All I'm asking is the name of an SD card I can simply order online. One that's larger than 2GB that works perfectly fine for Gecko OS. If one exists, that is.

EDIT: Okay, so apparently I can only use Riivolution for cards larger than 2 GB? If true, how exactly do I go about that for Brawl? Sorry in advance if I'm being a pain.
9  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Music & SFX / Re: What's your Custom SSBB soundtrack? on: September 06, 2010, 10:10:53 AM
Music hacks was a gift from God when it came to my standards of music in video games. It's always been my dream to put music I want in games. It's one of the reasons I loved Excite Truck and Phantom Dust so much. The ability of making your own soundtrack is awesome.

At first I thought "I'll just replace songs I just can't fight to." Because, who the hell can fight to the Car Select tune from F-Zero X (what the hell were they thinking?). Now, I'm replacing the majority of the soundtrack entirely and don't leave any songs from the official game on.

I put it whatever I feel fits in the stages. Something that actually goes with the stage and environment well. I also restricted myself to NOT putting in any video game music that actually sounds like video game music, I much prefer real bands composing songs (which means I've made exceptions, such as No More Heroes and MadWorld) for the Brawl stages. Although, recently, I feel in love with the soundtrack to the Scott Pilgrim game, and I never even liked chiptune music that much before! So, a few songs from that game made it to my Brawl. Besides that, the majority of my songs are from official bands.

Another restriction is techno. With the exception of Lylat Cruise and KittyCorp dance club, I want absolutely no techno in my game. No offense to those who like that genre, but it's really not for me and I think it sounds too generic.

I'm currently submitting the majority of my soundtrack thus far. It's 1.22 GB worth of brstms at this point.

I'll list a few stages and a song from it;

-Final Destination: Take Me Away by Epicot
-Battlefield: Attack by 30 Seconds to Mars
-Luigi's Mansion: Ghost Town by Shiny Toy Guns
-Port Town: M-80 by Papa Roach
-Mushroomy Kingdom 1-1/1-2: 3's & 7's/ SickSickSick (both by Queens of the Stone Age)
-Norfair: The Gears by Dethklok
-Yoshi's Island: Get it Together by The Go! Team
-Lylat Cruise: Push by Gameboyz
-Fourside: Rooftops by LostProphets
-Wario Ware Inc: Hong Kong Garden by Siouxie and the Banshees
-Halberd: Starts with One by Shiny Toy Guns

And so on. Idunno if you guys agree, but I think these songs fit said stages very well. All of this and more will be avaliable by me over time as well.

I have just one question, it's about submitting songs into the Brawl Vault.

Are there any boundaries to what we can submit? Or can we submit whatever we can?

I ask because 95% of my .brstm files are songs by official bands and whatnot.

I'd like to share them with the community but I want to make sure that it's allowed.

Maybe it's just me, but I think this makes excellent menu music. I can give you the .brstm if you'd like.

For anyone here who played Killer7 (most likely no one here), this is what plays at the end of the first stage when Harman first fires at Kun Lan.

Another excellent choice is the character select screen from Marvel VS Capcom 1;

I can give you the .brstm to this too.
