286  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Idea for a Texture Review Site on: July 09, 2009, 07:04:14 PM
i would love this 2 work ^.^ There are alot of good textures out there, that no one knows about

Exactly. In conjunction with the Wiki, this idea would explode - and everybody would get a fair-game chance at making the "big-leagues".
287  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: what does it take for someones textures to get noticed? on: July 09, 2009, 07:01:14 PM
Indeed. That converter will be quite handy... The amount of "screwing with Brawl" will become huge.

I can't believe I didn't hear or learn about all these homebrew applications for Brawl until just recently, it seems like it's got a huge following.

And now you're one of them. Welcome.

A texture hacker after my own heart. Months ago, my first texture was playboy Luigi. Heh.
290  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: So what textures does everyone like using? Need some input. on: July 07, 2009, 09:58:03 PM
For lack of a kick-arse Diddy texture, I'm going to have to recommend my own Coconuts Diddy. I'd like to thank Gazoinks for gesturing my Peach's Castle stage. I'm proud of it.

I'd also recommend Playboy Luigi, but I would be stoned. (Please don't use it, there are a plethora of awesome Luigi's out there).
291  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: wtf is with people? on: July 07, 2009, 04:40:46 PM
I agree with what's been said already. Making another texture of the same thing isn't a crime. If they're the exact same quality, then it's kind of silly.

I'm going to go with answers "A", "B", and "F". Heck yes, as long as it's better, and there aren't more than 10 of the same one.
292  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: How Long Do You Usually Spend On A Texture? on: July 07, 2009, 04:32:50 PM
I spend roughly 6 hours on textures for characters, just to make sure everything is spot-on. The Peach's Castle Stage however, took over 50 working hours to complete. Not one TGA when unscathed. XD
293  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Idea for a Texture Review Site on: July 07, 2009, 04:29:25 PM
So I noticed! In any case - I would love to be involved in the project.

If a representative from MeowMix is selected, we would be more than happy to shut down the newly reformed "MeowMix Spotlight Review", and commit whole-heartedly to this new project.

I can empathize with your possible frustration. MeowMix didn't expand and evolve overnight (or wait...) - but here are a few tips for making sure you're noticed:

1) Forum Posting: Doesn't work as well as it used to. If you create your own thread, and continue to update it (the first couple being incredible) then you'll become a reputable source for textures.

But who in the world is awesome during their FIRST couple of textures? It's usually later that they understand how to truly make textures shine. So...

2) Join a Team: It's been mentioned multiple times, but this is truly a quick & dirty way to get yourself recognized. The "Big-Ones" (as stickied here) are as follows:

Stack Smash probably wont accept you, as they rarely accept anyone. No offense, but many members there think the universe revolves around them.

Kitty-Corp has seen better days, and whether they believe it or not, could use some more staff members. They've recently tripped over the "invisible standard" of one update per day. You may consider applying here, as their staff members are humble and nice.

MeowMix has a good reputation of treating their staffers right, and is an easy-in if you've got over-average talent. They stick out pretty badly from the "standard" look you'll see all over the community, but MeowMix is MeowMix. You may consider applying there.

Elite Smash Hackers is really a coin-toss. BigSharkZ runs the place, and is exceptionally pleasant to work with. Be sure to impress him with a few textures as you apply.

3) Submit your textures to the BrawlHacks Wiki. This will make sure people see your textures. This is considered the 'new standard'  and many reputable hacking sites are submitting their textures as one super-database of textures from everywhere. People that are not on a team can add their textures just as easily as those that are. No waiting for admins to get your texture submitted required. Sign up, and you're home free.

So, as you can see, multiple ways to "springboard" your textures into orbit are available. Whether you end up following these tips or not is another matter.

Good Luck!

Sounds remarkably similar to the "MeowMix Spotlight Review"... However, I like the idea a LOT, and agree with you completely on the idea that there are too many textures to "sift" through.

Your idea sounds like something that could easily work hand-in-hand with the newly released BrawlHacks Wiki.

awesome Cheesy
I feel like the Database will be very usefull, since everyone can post their textures in there!

one question:
I've made a tutorial in french on how to use/create a texture hack.. Is there a way to put it there so that french people can understand too?

edit: I think Zephron f@cked up everything in C. Falcon's page. And he's not using 150x150 pics.

edit edit: I added Ness Scout, but then everytime I'm trying to add something it says somebody edited the page while I was. Am I just unlucky?

I have revamped every character stage by hand. The entire site is now "smaller resolution friendly" with shrinking and expanding tables.

I noted you inputting Ness Scout just as I was converting Ness's page to the new standard. Yes, you were just barely unlucky.

Can't wait to see everyone's textures bubbling over in this place. Great work.

298  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / The Next Revolutionary Step in the Texture Hacking Community on: July 07, 2009, 12:34:49 AM

Dear fellow brawl hacker/user,

We hereby invite you to join and participate in the next revolutionary step in the hacking community. This step is key for brawl hackers and users alike, and will well accomplish what we have all meagerly attempted to get done within forums and/or extremely long and unorganized roster pages.

We present to you, the BrawlHacks Wiki. We can assure you that many, many hours (even weeks) went into the preparation and creation of this Wiki, and is very ready for your input. We didn't want to clutter up this post with more than 1 image, so you'll have to click the link above and become familiar with the navigation and purpose of the BrawlHacks Wiki.

[While currently incomplete, we need your input and help to finish it!]

While the main page does state "MeowMix Wiki" - it was required that we name it that in order to give Wikia.com information about our roots. This Wiki is, however, NOT AT ALL exclusive to MeowMix textures. In fact, it is quite the opposite. We intend for every texture hacker, whether on a team or not, to participate freely in updating the database of textures within the Wiki.

By using the BrawlHacks Wiki, users will be able to copy and paste a simple template, edit it, and have their texture freely downloadable among other users. Many popular forums have attempted, and done fairly well at making sure giant "indexes" of textures were well organized and easily usable. Where the forums fail, however, is where the BrawlHacks Wiki picks up the slack. No admins will have to help each and every individual user. There will be house-cleaning every once in a while, but with the templates provided - the addition and updating of textures is as easy as 1-2-3.

If you are on a texture hacking team, we admonish you to let your visitors know via an update, as well as participate yourself. The faster this Wiki grows, the more central the site will be for people to come and enjoy everybody's creations.

Don't think for a second that just because you may be on a team that this will transfer the focus of texture creations from your site to this one. That is not the intention of the BrawlHacks Wiki. The purpose is to create a central location where users can view, submit, and download each texture easily.

We appreciate all that you have done to participate in the Brawl Hacking Community, and hope to continue to see more artisans in the near future.

-The BrawlHacks Wiki Team

I like it. You're VERY right - most boot straps are completely idiotic.
