Looking good. I'd love to have a proper fancy suit Bowser in Brawl! Peach's outfit from New Donk City would also be nice.

Lowering the spec map's resolution is a fair compromise I think. Sheik's team colors are looking good, especially the red one.

Sheik's looking like she was made for Brawl. I'm impressed that the 1024x1024 textures can be used without going over the filesize limit. Funny, this will probably end up making the 3DS models look better than the Wii U ones which had to use downsized textures (outside of Dolphin HD textures) to meet filesize limiations.

I know this is an odd request but would it be possible to make a version of Zelda (HW default costume) that has one additional expression: default eyes and mouth open? To clarify, I plan to use her in my machinima series in which I employ lip synching but as I'm sure you're aware Zelda by default has no 'talk' expression unlike most characters. Her only expression with open mouth is her 'hurt' expression which sucks for normal dialogue. I know that it wouldn't appear ingame without animation edits but that's not an issue as I'm capturing all the lip synch footage directly from Brawlbox.

If that's too much of a hassle or you're already too far along with the mod then that's okay.

Either way, really hyped for the release. The Sheik previews are looking great already.

Sure, sounds good. I don't have access to my Wii right now but I should be able to test it on my Wii U (which I think is functionally the same as playing Brawl on a Wii).

I'll ask him for impa's model this weekend maybe, don't want to keep bothering him with too many model request. Do you need her model right away or do you think you could hold off for a little while?

That's cool, no need to pester him with requests. Would be nice to get it eventually but I don't need it right away.

They should be fine at those counts, yeah. I'll do some stress-testing anyway once you release them just to be sure.

It's amazing that the 3DS models are obtainable after all. From your previews they don't really look any different from the Wii U models so the lowered poly counts make them a perfect fit for Brawl. Could you maybe ask for Impa as well? I rigged and imported her Wii U model but since I only have very basic 3D modeling knowledge my optimization to make her work ingame is shoddy at best. I'd rather start from scratch with the Legends model.

From what I understand objects that aren't loaded (i.e. different faces) don't cause any lag so these models should be fine.

Really impressed that you managed to get the 3DS models. I was looking for those a while ago but from my research it seemed that no one was able to rip from HW legends.

Unfortunately, I don't have fixed weapons for Stalfos Captain. I had no plans to import him or any of his weapons so I never looked at or fixed any of his items. All model import broken if they use physics, some worse than others.

Unfortunate but thanks for the answer. Don't think those are fixable, the sword already looks like a jumbled mess of vertices in Noesis before I export it and the shield doesn't export at all.

Anyway, Zelda is coming along nicely. Really looking forward to using her default HW costume in my next short.

I'm pretty sure it isn't required on the stable release of 5.0, though. I walked someone through the process of setting up mods on Dolphin 5.0 who hadn't used Dolphin before (and clearly doesn't have a NAND dump). Worked just fine for him.

EDIT: Tried out 5.0-6208. Installed IOS36 but Dolphin spits out an error message upon trying to load Gecko OS 'Invalid read from 0x0000000c, PC = 0x80e4ee9c' which keeps popping up after closing it, forcing me to end Dolphin's process.

Guess I'm sticking with 5.0.

Great job on the FD Link and I'm really looking forward to Zelda! Dolphin user as well so I can't say how well it works on Wii either.

I was wondering since you have access to the HW models, do you happen to have the Stalfos captain sword and shield? I made a Stalfos import but the weapon models for them were broken in the model rip I have.

This is not necessarily a problem with the new release (had it since 0.77) but it still persists in 0.78.

On some models the graphical overlay for the bone rotations gets very small but it only affects the overlay since in order to actually rotate the bone I have to hover the mouse over where the X/Y/Z lines would be if the overlay was normal size.

I know this works on Dolphin but I can't get it to work on my end. I've tried this build and a few other custom builds (ALM's build, Project Ganondorf) but Dolphin always crashes right before the intro starts with several "invalid read" errors.

I can load normal PM 3.6 just fine but whenever I attempt to load any build that involves BrawlEX, Dolphin refuses to cooperate. I tried both loading it through Gecko and the PM launcher. Same result for both, except Gecko with Hook Type set to VBI. With VBI I can get to the CSS but any clones (for this build Mewtwo and Roy) show up as Waluigi and crash the game when hovering over them. AxNextFrame as some troubleshooting guides suggest, results in the same invalid read errors as leaving the Hook Type on Default.

Are there any specific settings I have to make in Dolphin in order for it to work with BrawlEX? Or is there anything I have to change about the file setup? I was testing this build as it is, not even trying to add any clones yet.

Tested both on Dolphin 5.0 and an older version 4.0-4971. I'm using WinImage to inject the contents of the PM+BrawlEX pack to the root of a virutal SD. I have not altered anything about any of the builds I tried.

EDIT: So apparently I had a modified ISO which never interfered with anything until now. I guess BrawlEX is just a very special little snowflake. Either way, I got to work now.
