I know how normal .rel-s work, but I cannot seem to figure out how to get them working for a custom slot made from PW's SSS Code (found herehttp://allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?pid=1312951) this is my situation...

I have downloaded stages from this site, awesome by the way, & have always known how to use them, & exchange them for other stages with rel files. Well, I came across the SSS code, & thought that would help a lot, so I wouldn't have to overwrite as many stages. I got the codes just fine, put them with my codelist, & everything was going great, then came the matter of making the rels. I have seen that the value must be 00 for these new stages, but I usually use Bero's Stage Switcher, so I am a bit confused on how to set this up.

How do I go about making a correct .rel file for a custom stage? If you do answer, if you could, please use a Final Destination to STCUSTOM as an example, to show me how I would go about making others.

Thats actually the page I usually use for my current knowledge of rels. What I don't understand is how to set one stage rel to a custom one. Is there any setting for this on Bero's Stage Switcher, do I have to hex edit it manually, or do I only need 1 rel that I rename that works for all stage options?

EDIT: OK, I figured out how to make a correct rel, but the stage still doesn't work. I know it is correct because it tried to load normally, it didn't freeze the sound as well. What is going wrong now? Am I missing something? I am using a Final Destination to Custom rel that I made (switched the value 02 to 00).

Yes, I have other .rels that work. They work quite well. My problem is using them with the 9 extra stages code made by Phantom Wings. I cannot figure out why I can't get a Final Destination stage rel'd over to one of the STGCUSTOM stages. I have made sure to have every file named correctly, & the rels are made correctly.

The only other option I know of would be to try another stage, to see if this stage has issues on its own (i was using Budokai Tenkaichi w/"Death Grass" stage). I'll report back if it works.

Oh, & on a side note, I have noticed that there is nowhere online that has st_custom.rel's for all stages created yet. If I went ahead & created them, then tested them to make sure they work, would it be "against the rules" to post them here on KC-MM? If not, what forum would I make a thread for them in?

I don't think you can use Bero's tool to make a st_custom#.rel. I have purl=http://frhed.sourceforge.net/]Frhed[/url] installed to do this.

I couldn't get a different stage to work either, so it seems to be 1 of 2 things that could be wrong.
    1) my rel file isn't set up correctly
    or
    2) I am missing some cheat to make the extra stages playable, much like Giga Bowser, Alloys, etc.

You are correct, it doesn't. I used Ultraedit to hex edit them using the module files info on the page posted by Chuy. I do have some experience with hex editing, but I could still be doing something wrong. You see, I tried 3 different hex editors that I have, & only 1, Ultraedit, would find that string. I'll also try the hex editor libertyernie posted.

EDIT: I finally got it. Frhed didn't work, because it seemed it wouldn't open the full file, so I used Ultraedit again. I apparently accidentally changed the wrong value the first time. Thanks guys!

Also, again, is there any thread that is collecting the rel files for others, that I could donate to?
