Author Topic: None of the custom stages works for me (freezes at stage selection screen)! Help  (Read 4876 times)

Hi!

Im kinda new to kc-mm forums but I will go directly to my point.

I tried to use some of the custom stages made from here (like blue moon battleship, hyrule castle 64, metal harbor and a few more) but none of them work for me because when I choose the stage (ex pirate ship stage for blue moon battleship) the game freezes!
However, when I tried to use stages made from an another site (SmashBoards) they all worked fine and none of them froze! Here is the link if you want to check it out http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=7449039
I'm now wondering what the problem could be, and I hope that someone got the answer for me.
Here is some info about the things I've done:

* Wii: PAL
* Using Gecko OS to load codes (with File Replacement 2.1a)
* Using SD Card 2gb -> G:/private/wii/app/RSBP/pf/stage/melee/Stages.pac
and for those stages with a .rel file I put it in private/wii/app/RSBP/pf/module/st_stages.rel
(By the way, those maps I tried from smashboards which worked does not contain any .rel file, in other means, my module-folder is empty at the moment)

Alright, I think thats it. I just dont understand why my game freezes when using textures from THIS site, while textures from most other sites works well!

Did you check that your files are named correctly? If not, do that, and, if necessary, rename them. I'm not sure how Gecko OS works, though.

    i mit be wrong but some custom stages have file size limits meaning there to big
    one last thing is your File Replacement for pal users? of not hear

    Okay, lets try the Blue Moon Battleship. I got 2 files, one st_pirates.rel and one STGPIRATES.pac.
    I put the .rel file in the module folder on my SD-card, and I put the .pac file on my stages/melee-folder and making sure there is only one STGPIRATES.pac in that folder.

    Then I start wii -> homebrew channel -> gecko os -> Codes loaded (with the PAL code 2.1a, since maps from other sites work) and then I choose some characters and I select the Pirate Ship stage!
    However, it still freezes while the other edited stages (for example final destination) works fine.

    *EDIT*

    btw, what does the .rel file really do? Never understood its funtion :/

    srry, I use riivolution, so I have no clue how gecko OS works. the files are properly named, but idk about folders. also, idk what the .rels do. my advice is maybe you should look for a video showing how to use custom stages with gecko OS.

    Okay, I'll try that one. Gecko only reads a File replacement code for textures to work at the sd-card. Hmm, im not very good at expaining that :p

    But, if I use riivolution, will it make blue moon battleship to work on my PAL wii, assuming that the creator of that stage is NTSC?

    I thought that 3.5.1 didnt exist yet for the PAL version?

    Is it too much to ask you if you could make a step-by-step guide for me with riivolution? I have made the first step to put the programme in my apps-folder on the SD card, but now Im lost! Sad

    That only exists for NTSC copies of Brawl.  Music hacking is limited to Riivolution for PAL users.

    So, nobody got a clue about why only Kitty Corp custom stages freezes for me, and why stages from Smashboards works smoothly?

    Some stages will only work with the proper region.  You must also take into consideration the file size of the stages, since they have to use less memory than normal when modified (if the stage PAC files have compressed contents).

    those stages I've tried to download weren't bigger than the old ones, thats the part that confuses me Sad Is it possible that all stage-textures from kc-mm is restricted to NTSC or something? It would be weird since all the character textures from here works fine without any trouble!
