    I'm pretty sure they don't need to be brres, pngs are fine in my experience.

    For example, Open up "InfFace001.brres" double click on textures, then right click the "tex0" file and click "replace" then, look for a .png that Has The EXACT same size as the Tex0 file. if it's too big, it will freeze your game.
