This is the weirdest thing...

Ok, I have the japanese version of SSBB. Well anyway, it started off when on the mushroomy kingdom stage, this particular song (A03 - Underwater Theme (Super Mario Bros.)) whenever I tried to highlight it, it started to freeze (The stage would work fine, but the song just wouldn't play.) this started happening a couple months ago, I tried to clean the SD card and the USB loader, still froze. I tried running without the codes on the USB loader, still froze up. I EVEN tried running the game on the gecko, without the codes, or anything, just the good old fashion disc. and it still froze. so now I know the problem isn't the game ISO itself, it might be the saved data. so I restarted the game from scratch, unlocked everything to the point of having characters, stages and whatnot, and I figured that would've fixed... I highlighted... and it still froze. so I just said to hell with it for now, and decided that it's only one song.

it is now October, and a few minutes ago, I discovered a way to use the custom stages with the REL files. I was messing around with it, and I noticed, that this song (A15 - Main Theme (Super Mario 64)), did the exact same thing as the song I mentioned before... but it doesn't stop there...
Both, Luigi's mansion, and Mushroomy kingdom just don't load at all. it freezes immediately when I select the stage itself, I can't even load the music list.
Oh, and all the other stages work fine, that's the weirdest part.

As of right now, I'm trying to make a new WBFS from the disc and trying the USB loader on that...
I'm having doubts at this point, because if it's starting to do that, it'll spread, and eventually make it so that the game in it of itself, would become unplayable.

And I've been doing Brawl hacks... for about a year and a half, and I'd hate for all that work to be wasted.

I even made a new WBFS, and it still froze.

As of right now, I am currently reformating my External Hard drive (Not to mention that I got Monster Hunter Tri a few days ago and it froze as soon as I select start game... but that's not the issue), I kinda have doubts that it will help any, but I can't really think of anything else.

Sorry, I thought description would help...
umm, to put it simply, it just freezes when I select the luigi's mansion stage, as well as highlighting some of the songs.
It could be a problem with the system itself, because even if I load from the disc without the codes, it still does it.

someone had something similar happening to them on the family thread, does this happen just with hacks, or all the time?

...There are 2 solutions to this.

The Music Reset Code.
Or deleting your game save.

Both work.

Managed to fix the problem, basically change the coding around.
