Author Topic: freeze before character selection caused by csp ( ? )  (Read 2367 times)

I used a Pal disc on a Pal Wii with Riivolution until recently.
Now I started using a Ntsc Iso on my Pal Wii with Usb loader GX and replacement code 3.5.1.
Strap loader, textures, music, custom css and menu are working fine but after I replaced the "char_bust_tex_Iz77.pac" in selchar/common5 (i tried both) with the one i used before (for Pal(every csp was working)) the game started freezing before the character selection.
first I thougt it is freezing because im using a Pal "char_bust_tex_Iz77" on a ntsc selcharacter/common5 so i tried it again but this time replacing only the pictures not the whole pac files 
(as example MenSelchrFaceB.011 ) but it didn´t work either.
I heard the Size and format of the pictures is very important but with riivolution and Pal disc there was no problem? (some of my csp are format:RGB5A3)

It would be very nice if someone could help me  Smiley

    every character portrait has a certain size for it and if it's too big, it will freeze, and almost all of them are different.

    Hmmm weird. i never had any size problems with Riivolution.
    So does the size of the new csp have to be EXACTLY the same as the original csp or is it ok if they are just alike?

    And do you know how to make the csp size smaller?

    The dimensions of a normal CSP is 128x160 pixels.
    Anything over that will freeze.

    yeah i know that cause i used csp´s with Riivolution. actually i meant the file size


    Edit : ah i found out how to decrease the size of the file extremly ( with a programm called riot )
    and that solved my problem but now i got a new problem.
    after i restarted brawl the css was completly dearanged .
     
    im using the "Dark Flaming Blue CSS" (up to now it was working fine ) http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=6201.0

    edit2: ok the problem is solved now ( there were some wrong digits in the css code )

    it might be the giga bowser, independent pokemon and zss css codes. just a guess, try taking one code off at a time and see if you can find out which code(s) is giving you problems.

    Yeah you are right there was a problem with the custom css code. Seems like evrything is working fine now Smiley thanks for your help
