can i put any stage over Flat Zone using the appropriate .rel, and will it be 3-D? can i use the Stage Expansion .rel's, and just re-name them?

Flat zone would stay the same format (2D). Yes, you can just rename them to st_custom##.rel |

okay well i tried porting LenShos Twilight Palace over Delphino Plaza... but that froze the game. i used a Battlefield.rel

It's the rel layout. You need to redo a line of code from: 38 A5 00 00 38 80 00 01 to 38 A5 00 00 38 80 00 00
Should work after that.

You're trying to replace delfino plaza, not the stage expansion.
