Importing models from non-mdl0 games

I know it's possible (despite not being animated).
What I want is a model from a Source Game (TF2) to be put in Brawl, seeing as it has been done with some Jigglypuff hats and a Sandvich import.
In other words: how were those models imported into the .mdl0 format?

Ok, now all I have to do is send the maker of those Hat Hacks a PM asking him how he imported the models into .OBJ format (this is probably just as easy as it is for the .mdl0 models).
Thanks for the link
