I've been reading up on this character porting business, and I would love to be able to create an ike port over jiggs. However, I still don't understand what codes I am supposed to replace in the generic .rel file. Is there a tutorial on this?

Yeah, I read that, but I still don't understand which numbers go where. I open the generic .rel in a hex editor, and there are so many numbers my head is spinning. Is there a youtube video or something?

    Quote
    1) Open the generic .rel PW posted in a hex editor.

    2) Go to the offsets PW indicated in the Change.txt (00000, 1C248, 14080).

    3) At offsets 00000 and 1C248 you're going to have to change the module ID of Ike (77) to that of the character you want to port him to. So for example, if you wanted him over Olimar change 77 to 71.

    4) At offset 14080, change Ikes Character ID of 22 to that of the character you want him over. So 19 for Olimar.

The module IDs are here, if you missed it: http://opensa.dantarion.com/wiki/Modules. The character IDs are in the Change.txt.

    These are instructions from Beyond.

With Jiggles you're going to have to change her multi-jump IC Constant to 0. Also if I'm not mistaken Jiggs has a Rapid Jab.  Just so you know you're not the only one struggling with porting.  Tongue

I can't find the one that ends in 48. And how do you do the other codes.

I patch .rels exaclty the way other people patch them, and it still freezes, yet if I get the exact same .rel from someone else, it works perfectly - that's why I was just like, [censored] hexing and .rels

Haha seriously?  That sucks if that's the case with me.  Sir what hex editor did you use and what did you save your hex file as?

I don't remember because I was so pissed off that I just deleted everything in the folder, but I know it was a HxD

I use HxD as my Hex editor. Now with Jiggs, I had to use a couple of ocarina codes with code manager. Specifically, I used a code to jump once, not multiple times. I also used a code to make Jiggly's jabs go 3 times. If you want, I can post it in the Vault. Somebody just has to tell me how.

So after you edited it, what did you save the generic file as?  Maybe this has something to do with it.

I saved the generic Ike file as ft_purin.rel

Instead of looking like a generic file, it has the HxD logo on it. You will have to accompany it with code eventually, but it shouldn't freeze when it loads up.
