HELP!!! common5.pac and sc_selcharacter.pac crashes the game!!!

I am trying to do my own Portrait Textures for Brawl, but the 2 possible files for this always crashes my game, so I can't see them. Here are the files I use (I use both of them) :
private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/system/common5.pac & private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/menu2/sc_selcharacter.pac. Here are what they do when I try to play the game:

private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/system/common5.pac = Crashes the game at "Loading" screen (before the game's intro)

private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/menu2/sc_selcharacter.pac = Crashes the game when I choose the Character screen and emits a very high pitched 'BEEEEEEEEEEEEP!' that is just too loud for my ears.

However, the common5.pac is only 12.4 MB while my sc_selcharacter.pac is only 3,79 MB so I don't understand. Textures are inside my sc_selcharacter.pac file in the char_bust_tex_lz77 mini-folder of both .PAC files, but... Is it because...when opening Brawl Box, the char_bust_tex_lz77's compression option is "None", but I ust change it?

There are a couple of things that could be wrong.

First: Do you use Riivo?  If so then common5.pac is all you need.

Second: You may be saving the pics in the incorrect format.

Third:  Make sure you dumb down the file size of the png as much as possible and make sure the image is the correct size.

Fourth: Did you download a clean common5.pac?  If not maybe it's corrupt.

In what format must images be? When I export them, they become transparent .png files. I also used Brawl Texturizer from http://superjmn.wordpress.com/2009/09/21/brawl-texturizer-for-super-smash-bros-brawl// to import .pac files, images then export the system/common5.pac. But should the images be of another format? Anyways, I use HomeBrew Channel and Gecko OS to load the game, I might try Riivolution and see if it works.

same thing happened to me,

trust me, it might be that you have too much stuff on it

i have only done a few amount of CSP's at a time on my common.pac
then one day,

BOOM! crashed right when i go on the CSS

to fix this,

(i did this so i don't take up alot of room)

type in notepad the name of the hack, and what costume is on that character it's on,
and as for the ones i completely replace (example: Shadow over D.K.)
i keep those CSP's so then i KNOW it's not D.K.

and it helps alot,

and you can also know what hack it is by just looking at your computer, (just don't accidently put it on the SD card XD)

well, you don't NEED to do the notepad if you don't want to

i just mentioned it if you wanna know what hacks are on what characters costume

so you can just do:

keep ONLY the fully replaced characters CSP's
(example: Shadow over D.K. Mewtwo over Lucario etc.)

But the thing is, I want my CSS to appear on the Character Select Screen so badly, I don,.t know what to do with the TXT file... Do you have a sample which I can download (on something like MediaFire)? If not, can you tell me what to write in the TXT file?

Someone said that in order to prevent the game from crashing, the output file must not exceed 11.4 MB, though I don't know if it's true... Anyhow, good luck with my .PCS files!

do you know that you can replace the original CSP's on the common5.pac?
even with PNG's,

if their the right size of course

cause i don't use anything to convert them,
i don't even convert them

and they work perfectly fine for me

Thanks! I now have my own SSBB Character Roster thanks to you. It never crashes, and is just perfect! The reason why it crashed MIGHT be because the countless common5.pacs I downloaded were corrupted, and somehow by browsing MediaFire, I finally downloaded a raw, unused one.
