Installing characters to a custom build

Hello every1 ^.^

I know there are tutorials on characters and other things...but i just need a step by step tutorial on adding characters to a custom project M build.

the pack i'm using now is (PROJECT EX bycbennett2121) and i have already dl like 3 characters but i have already tried installing them but every time i start up Project m the game goes black and then freezes. I was just hoping there was someone who could help a fellow brawler out! XD

PS: if there isnt anything u guys can do then dont worry. i know you guys are probably fed up with all the help post anyway lol
