I got a new wii game for christmas, and I wanted to play it, but it requires a qii system update.
How can I work around the update? or possibly update and Keep my homebrew channel?

I ran into a similar scenario with Kirby's Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Their updates end up stubbing the IOSes that are used with the USB Loaders. I'm trying to fix this up though.

You could always switch to Stack Smash/ Gecko OS like outlined here:

Load the games through Gecko OS it skips the update process. The games don't really require any updates anyway >.>

I've managed to get Kirby's Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns to work with WiiFlow. Had to reinstall cIOS222, cIOS223, and cIOS249 during the process.
