So my Wii died. I can still turn it on and everything, but it won't read any disks. I want to send it into Nintendo for repair, but here's the problem: I previously had Riivolution installed on my Wii. I uninstalled it later on, but will there be anything traces nintendo can spot that could cause them to not repair my wii?

i think that if you sent it in, they might be able to tell that it was softmodded. but even if they don't, i think they would still update it to the latest version of the firmware.
you can send it in, get it fixed, and install riivolution again or you can install the usb loader/wiiflow apps on the homebrew channel and play it off a flash drive(unfortunately you can't use riivolution on flashdrives).
(someone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)

They can, I have a friend who got his wii serviced and they removed the homebrew channel and upgraded his wii to 4.3
(And considering your DVD drive is broken your rather off sticking to a usb loader like neox said. |

Don't change to USB, just don't.
If they update your Wii, you can A. use a newer method to hack it. B. Use Smash Stack to launch gecko directly(You won't have to hack your Wii) Or if you're feeling dangerous C. Downgrade your Wii (Not recomended. Its the only way without being a retard to brick your Wii)

Change to USB. If nintendo can't make a functional system that can read dual layer discs, they deserve this.
You could alternatively try buying a lens cleaning kit. Probably won't work.
Nintendo may or may not see that your wii was softmodded, but even if they don't they'll update it to 4.3.
remember, softmodding does void your warranty, but they will fix your wii if you send it in. If you're going to send it in, at least update to 4.3.
Oh, and keep in mind, if you do get it fixed, its possible that it will happen again.
USB is the way to go, especially if you're only using it for brawl.

^ Unfortunately I have a rather large collection of Wii games..... I'd rather not switch to USB as well, because I'd have to buy one first of all, and then download the ISO's of my games again......(Not to mention that I have siblings that consistently buy Wii games as well) I'd rather just use the disk drive. And it's my fault it broke anyway, I was playing Black ops (Dual layered+ Constantly streams from the disk) for 6+ hours a day. Thank you all for your help though. All I needed to know is if they'd repair it or not.

Black ops is single layered. But if you play Wii games so much you should consider usb loading, even if you decide to repair your Wii. Then you can play games all day long without worrying about wearing out the disc drive (again) and if you repair your Wii you don't even have to download any ISO's, just put the games in the drive and rip them with your USB loader.

Bloodhunter talked about ripping them after getting the disc drive fixed. So it could, but i can understand you reading it like that. Sad but very true. Although a friend of mine's did get fixed, simple way is to backup all your saved data onto a drive and just format the Wii's memory about 3-5 times. He did that and they probably didn't find anything since they repaired it for free (warranty). |

Do you have any proof of this because everything I've ever heard (and I did a lot of research when I bricked my Wii) is that as long as it's not HARD modded Nintendo will just remove any hacks and update the firmware (if it's under warranty they'll probably make you pay for the repair though. Only if the Wii's been cracked open and physically hacked will they not fix it. |

I agree, My wii was(is) softmodded too and it couldn't read ssbb anymore, other games were working fine but still.. so I sent it to nintendo and they did repair it, and I think my hbc was still on my wii menu.. |

^Huh. Not sure who I should believe..... But if you're telling the truth, I'll be fine, because I've already uninstalled Riivolution, and even updated my Wii after that. Hopefully they'll repair it.....
