I'm not fixing it because I don't consider it broken.
Deja vu. I knew he had brought it up recently.

... you guys don't seem to know too much about the wii :/
for one... there's no cut/copy/paste
for two... reposting my post does nothing but bump the thread. I'm not interested in that. I can't do that anyways...
I'm interested in actually being able to edit my post when I need to.
if I must restate myself... the wii's text editor laggs if you have too much typed in.
an over-excessive amount of text causes characters to take 2 seconds (or more) to appear on screen. and scrolling takes the same amount of time to simply scroll 1 line.
I NEED POST SPLITS.
and if there was nothing broken about it, then I should be able to multi-post ON MY THREADS without worry. (if I'm on another user's thread, then post-merging is fine)
I DON'T WANT POST MERGING ON MY THREADS.
please fix this so that I may use these forums without these crappy work-arounds.

Don't you have a computer to work on? I have a compy with no tcpip interface...
I thought I've explained that already <_<
I won't have a compy to get net off of for quite a while.

You can't expect the entire board to change for the demands of a single person.

if the request is something simple you can... I would know... 9_9
and a USB adapter won't work... not after a ZeroAccess attack :/
I've done my research from many sites to figure this out.
EDIT: if you have experiance in this, then I retract my statement.
EDIT2: all I'm asking for now, is a simple checkbox (like the "Disable Signatures") which will disable post merging for *this* (new) post.

It's not a matter of simplicity, more like... you're the only one asking for it, so why do you expect it to be done?

So you want a button which will allow you to double/triple/quadruple/x-ple post and then get reported, warned, muted and/or banned because you have no tcpip because you got a virus which removed it and now your computer has no internet at all and you don't think a usb adapter will work and you don't want to / can't reinstall windows for whatever reason, forcing you to use the horrible wii browser with no flash and a terrible text interface that doesn't allow you to type a lot, meaning long posts screw you over which is why you want to double/triple/quadruple/x-ple post and then get reported, warned, muted and/or banned?
So because of this extreme amount of lulz, you want the admins to add a checkbox to let you do this?
"Failure to plan on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on my part." - somebody somewhere sometime
lol

conveinency yeilds less problems...
wouldn't you want your forum to suit for all users instead of just a large portion of them?
truthfully, ratio is child's play to me... <_<
sometimes common sense overrides ratio, and you have to consider the results.
I mean... it's not like my request is going to hurt anyone I'm only requesting for *user* posts and not global selection...
thugh my current request, now that I think about it would be global... <_< but by default, post merging would be on.
just because I'm one person, doesn't mean I can't make a group of people see a little improvement... Albert Einstein did it >_>
EDIT: well it's not like I'm going to multipost for something pointless
EDIT2: I'm disabling my sigs anyways when I multipost for the other babies out there 9_9
EDIT3: btw BJ... I have about 5/6 threads out on this forum which I've done nothing but multipost on.
funny thing is... all of those threads are descriptive threads talking about file formats or other things.
multiposting for those reasons is legit, and I do believe the earlier admins and mods considered that when they added the new system. (which I've noticed from the 2-day inactivity feature which disables multi-posting) ^ thank you, this is very useful
for anything else, I havn't complained about the post-merging.
EDIT4: also BJ... if you're thinking I got the rootkit (not virus) from using IE, you'd be more than wrong.
I actually had no internet connection when I got the rootkit.
I think I got it from network jumping w/o a firewall. (trying to hack an internet connection)

That's still YOUR problem. If it's one annoyed user vs no more multiposts all around, then that choice is really easy..
Deal with it and instead fix your pc. The time you spent complaining could have been used to fix it.
Also Blackjax, you win the internet good sir.

again with ratio -.-*
why can't you simply make everyone happy... I thought the owners of a forum were supposed to cater to everyone's needs.
on top of that, I'm not just complaining... I've made 2 suggestions on how to better your forum that nobody can argue with because it won't REALLY change too much.
I want to use your forum like a REAL forum. instead of being limited with crap you fail to reconsider.
shoot, SWF even understands my position, and they'll split my posts when I need them to. why can't you guys do the same
the reason I'm posting here and not there is because this place is more legit for the content I'm posting. (or I just want to give others the conveinence to not have to go over to SWF to view)
you guys have to consider the views of everyone, and not just be like "oh well, the forum plays this way, and that's how it is". no it's not.
you keep playing by those snobbish rules and you're going to get attacked. (for example the DOS attack that happened a while ago)
look... I love KCMM ok... and I want to see it become better. :/
stop using childs-play and start considering the stuff professionals do. otherwise nothing's going to change... heh... I would know XDD
Post Merge: April 19, 2013, 07:33:25 AM alright... I'm sorry that one sounds a bit harsh...
but you know, it's simple common sense... if it's causing a problem, it needs to be fixed.
post merging is causing a problem for me.
and I'm more-so telling you how it can be fixed...
it's not going to get me banned... reported/warned... maybe... but that's only if I multi-post in another users thread... and THEN banned
I'm the owner of my thread, I should be able to state how I want things to go down. (that's how a REAL forum works)
granted there are limits, such as being able to moderate other's posts. <_<
but this isn't even as big of an issue as what you guys are making it out to be... :/
all I'm asking is that the problem get's fixed. (it's a wii, so the website has to adjust to fit the system)
EDIT: don't say anything about the post merge there... I wanted that to happen.

I don't see it as a problem really.. I understand your view but instead of demanding the forum to change, why not try and fix your PC? You can easily bypass rootkits by getting a new HDD for example, or doing quite some formatting on the HDD or whatever.

If I open up this option to you, I also open it up to, say, people who repeatedly bump their own request threads. Which is exactly the sort of thing the post-merge function is intended to prevent. Truthfully, I don't think I understand your problem. You say the Wii browser can't handle large amounts of text, but... you never have to deal with all that text. The forum handles the merging for you. The only ways I can imagine you interacting with large amounts of text: - You're copying the text of old posts into your new post and deleting the old posts, thereby bumping your thread. There is no need for you to do this. You post primarily in Programming, which does not get enough activity to warrant bumps more than once every two days (which is what the current settings allow).
- You're editing a post that has been previously merged. This is a more legitimate use case than #1. However, I am inclined to say that you should just proofread better. You got yourself into this situation by doing risky things with your computer. It is insane to just do whatever you want and expect everyone else to adapt to the circumstances in which you find yourself. You messed up. This is a (minor, in the grand scheme of things) consequence. Adjusting to it is your responsibility, not ours. This forum is not intended for use on anything other than a desktop or laptop. It is about Brawl hacking, which requires a proper computer to do, ergo it makes very little sense to cater to other platforms.
I will think about your request over the weekend, but its likelihood of being implemented is low. Also, if you ever say anything that sounds like a threat of attacking us again, I will report you.

ok first off... I wasn't threatening... I don't know how to attack someone's website... (though I want to learn because I've got other issues on my end reguarding spam-sites who won't leave me alone.) 9_9
just to get things strait, I don't want to attack the forum, and never will
I was only making a point.
secondly, you're right... the post merging merges small amounts of text into one large post...
but now lets say you want to update some outdated documentation in that post. that's made nearly impossible due to the text size when editing.
tbh, that's all I've ever really complained about.
as for consideration to what the post merging is ment to prevent... might I suggest maybe a catagory of users to allow this option to... (like how you have "moderator")
@*characters I can't type*: the rootkit has already been removed... I just have a compy with no networking interface...
for some reason, the ISO I have crashes, or reports missing files when I try to reinstall windows... (lost my other windows disks while I was homeless)
any other options I have towards reinstallation, or another means of internet connection probably won't come around for a few years...
until then, I'm stuck with my wii.
