Help: Hacks Not Working at All

So I recently scored a 300 GB hard drive and an SDHC card of 4GB. I transferred all my game files to it so I could use the old microSD card for my new HTC Touch Pro. I loaded SSBB from my disk drive and enabled the file patch code. The cheats didn't work... at all. So I'm wondering if any of these influence the fact that the file patch code doesn't work at all.

i think i heard that anything above a 2 gig sd card wont work for brawl mods, but i'm not completely sure

SSBB can only read from SD cards (guessing that Riivolution will let you read from an external hard drive).

Apparently, the game can't read from anything larger than 2GB. I think a 4GB SD (not SDHC) will work...
