Using a Homebrew app known as WiiXplorer, I can view and copy and maybe replace files on the SSBB disc. Couldn't this be another method of replacing .brstm files?

Wrong section, this need to go on "Help".

WiiXplorer? I don't know this HBC.

Replace them with Wiiscrubber. Works like a charm.

Made by my best friend, Annelies.
