I'm not very familiar with 3DS MAX and I just need to know how to get rid of things in a .obj 3D scene. Some model rips have other things attached to it that I want to get rid of, but leaving the model where it is. (If there's a simple noob-friendly way to do this)
For example: Getting rid of a weapon, or background or platform attached to a model that I want to erase.
Would be greatly appreciated  Cool

    Select it.

    Click Delete.

    .... the end.

Umm...how do I isolate the thing I want to delete?
It's attached to the model which causes the wrong thing to be selected.
Keep in mind that I've only recently picked up 3DS Max...

Oh, I see what you're saying. I assumed that it was just a separate model you were trying to remove that wasn't attached to everything else.

I suppose you could try to edit the vertices. Select the polygon you want to edit, click on Modify (the blue rainbow thing near the top-right), select Vertices, and shrink the vertices down using the Scale tool.

... I'm pretty sure that would work.

Click the editable mesh modifier and instead of selecting the "select vertices" button, click the button on the far right. This will allow you to select elements. Now select stuff and delete it.

Thanks! I'm still trying to get a hold of 3ds Max. (Literally my first time trying to do anything besides previewing models in it)
