When I download a character .pcs file, it works with the the slot number, e.g FitPeach01.pcs (pac) will work.
If I rename to FitPeach02 or any other number it won't work. The same happens with EVERY texture. I use PAL and RSBP.gct on gecko.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you rename the texture as "FitPeach01.pcs", but it's a ".pac", the textures that you want to apply won't work...

Typically, most PAC files are decompressed.  With BrawlBox, you can change the compression settings that your file is using.

For one thing, Brawl uses the LZ77 compression method.  When viewing certain archives, check the compression setting; if the compression is set to "None", the archive is decompressed.  You can change that compression setting at any point.

I looked at the compression settings, all the pcs files at lz77 and the pacs are *none*. Downloaded textures should work just by renaming them but they don't. So I am still no clearer. Sorry

If you have to, just do a "Save As...".

That kind of works but most still don't ;(.
Guess I will just have to use which ones I can through trial and error and make do. Unless anyone can shed any light on it.

Still, Peach's PAC files use the same amount of memory, so you'd think that you can use them on any color slots.

The only very picky color slot that I know of is Jigglypuff's green outfit, where its sleep cap is treated as a separate model.

i see, it's strange coz i tried opening the downloaded pcs' and re-saved them and some of them work but the numbers don't match the slots. This is fine coz they work but still a bit annoying.
