Character Selection Freezes

Every time I try to actually play it won't work cause the game freezes every time I hit Brawl. Can someone help me as to what I should get rid of or add in a certain folder? Note I'm not really good at this hacking stuff so.. yeah lol

Are you using Riivolution or Gecko?

If you're using Ocarina codes, then you need to use sc_selcharacter.pac for your portraits.  Riivolution uses common5.pac for the NTSC-U version.

Be advised though, that if you are using Gecko OS, sc_selcharacter.pac has to use less memory than normal, or else your game will crash.

I'm having problems with character select screen freezes as well. I'm not even using a custom CSS anymore, just the basic screen that comes with Brawl minus. Before it only froze when flipping through costumes with Kirby. Now it does it for ROB and/or Pit and I have no idea what the issue is anymore.
