So I was working on some textures and brawlbox was saving correctly, then out of nowhere it said "Unable to open file for write access" when I pressed Ctrl+s now every time I want to save on bb it gives me the same error.
I restarted my pc and stuff, still says the same thing, if I try Brawlbox 63d it says "The process cannot access the file xxxx because it is being used by another process. This happens with ALL my pacs and pcs and everything.

    Any help?

I can put pics of what I do to fix this problem here for you Friday probably. It only works 90% of the time tho & 10% of the time I gotta redownload it. Would you like me to do so anyway?

I reinstalled windows, but it would be nice because I don't know if it will happen again (in fact I don't know if it still happens)

    Post Merge: June 28, 2012, 11:52:34 PM
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU all this for nothing, after the mother f***ing reformat it still gave me the error, daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, wtf!!!!!

BTW, something similar happened to me before, I opened a motionpac in model preview, edited it and when I saved it gave me the "brawlbox stopped working and bla bla".

    Is it related?

Not sure. Try redownloading BB & see if it works.

But for example, it happens with ALL my Brawlboxes I have "63d, 63d mod 4.2, 65 and 66b" none of them allow me to save, if I redownload I don't think it would change that or will it?

I think it has something to do with a common something isn't it?

Edit: Downloaded BrawlBox 65c to see it a "fresh" brawlbox worked, and not, it didn't same error: "Unable to open file for write access"

Additional info: I'm grabbing random .pacs or .pcss in my pc and just ctrl+s on them.

Only 1 other thing. It should work.

1: Open BB then goto settings (I think)
2: It should show all kinds of file extentions like ".pac" or even things like ".m0dl" & stuff. Make sure everything is unchecked. Save the settings & close BB.
3: Reopen BB & go to those Settings we looked at earlier & this time Check all & I mean ALL of them. Close BB after you save again.

This also works for me tho you might not have the "source" of it with it. It's a glitch like this probably.

Nop, tried that and still wont work, any other ideas?

When I open with 63d and try to save i get this error handling message, maybe this could help?:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Thanks dude, you've been very helpfull. I PM'd BlackJax96 asking him to check this thread, maybe he has some idea to what the hell it is.

Hopefully he won't get mad about the pm, his signature says he hates them, but I had to try everything.

It's really beyond me why even after I reinstalled windows the error kept coming up, I really really don't know what to do, if I knew where BB saved stuff (maybe it saves stuff on my documents or something) I could see if there was a problem there, but really I have no clue.

It sucks, I've been working with it so well

I'm gonna look around after I texture this Stage (1st time so if I upload it don't expect something like the EGGCARIER or like a model).

Augh I'm totally mad at you for pming me!11!!!1?!?!!

    jk.

    - Check to see if any folder is set to ReadOnly by right clicking the folder and clicking properties.
    - Make sure you have available space on your hard drive.
    - Make sure you actually changed something in the file before saving.
    - Close all other programs that could be using the file you're trying to edit.
    - Try it on another computer?
    - Try running Brawlbox as administrator, if on Windows 7 or maybe Vista.
    - Use Save As on the file and save in a completely different location
    - Try editing the file right on the SD card?
    - Make sure the SD card has available memory also
    - Make sure the write protection is off on the SD card too
    - If all else fails, try creating a completely new file using Brawlbox and see if it will save somewhere.

Ok, i see what happens, IT LOOKS LIKE i can only save when I've done something to the file, before I was able to save even when there was no change at all (i think) I will test some more.

    Thanks Smiley

I am sorry if I am doing something wrong by posting here, but I am new to forums and honestly don't know better....
I am having the same problem and I have tried absolutely everything! I've done everything BlackJax recommended and I am honestly upset because I love modding brawl and I can't edit the csps and what not without brawlbox. Any tips? I am really desperate...
